UFC heavyweight prospect, Brendan Schaub will not be entering familiar territory in Rio de Janeiro, as he prepares to square off against Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC Rio on Aug. 27.

Schaub, who is currently training for the matchup in Brazil, spoke to TATAME.com and said Nogueira is unlike all the other opponents he has faced.

“This is the biggest fight of my career against the biggest name I ever fought,” Schaub said.

“I expect the fight of my life in this one.”

Schaub is used to challenging some of the upper echelon of the heavyweight division, as he recently defeated Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 128. Prior to that, he defeated Brazilian Jiu Jitsu specialist, Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 121, a bout that saw his stock rise significantly.

And if Schaub can pick up a win over a legend like Nogueira, it could enter his name into the title picture in the heavyweight division. However Schaub must overcome the one advantage Nogueria will hold over him: the home crowd.

Schaub said he won’t expect to be a fan favourite to the Brazilian crowd against Nogueira.

“I expect a packed house full of Nogueira fans and I am ready for a hostile environment.” he said.

At UFC 132, Chris Leben will welcome Wanderlei Silva back to the Octagon after the Brazilian had been sitting out for well over one year due to injury. Leben will be looking to make a return of sorts as well, though, after suffering only the second knockout loss of his career in his last fight against Brian Stann.

The fight between Leben and Silva will serve as the co-main event for UFC 132, which will take place on July 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Leading up to the event, Leben and Silva joined the main event competitors, UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber, on the UFC 132 media call. Here are some of Leben’s highlights from the call.

UFC middleweight and welterweight contender Nate “The Great” Marquardt defended his Pancrase Middleweight Championship against Ricardo “Big Dog” Almeida in 2003. He had won the title when he defeated Kiuma Kunioku in 2002.

Gracie-Jiu Jitsu trained and dangerous on the ground, Almeida caught the former middleweight contender in a tight guillotine choke late in the first round. Marquardt was forced to tap out, but Almeida didn’t let go for several seconds afterwards.

After finally releasing the choke, an angry Marquardt delivered an extra right hand to the chin of Almeida for the unsportsmanlike conduct. Almeida’s trainer, Renzo Gracie, entered the ring and kicked Marquardt in the face, knocking him backwards and onto the canvas.

The two fighters quickly realized they had both made mistakes and shook each other’s hands when the result was announced.

Marquardt (31-10-2) will be making his UFC welterweight debut this Saturday when he takes on the very tough and durable fighter Rick “The Horror” Story (13-3), who is currently on a six-fight win streak.

Almeida retired from MMA in 2011 with an overall record of 13-5 and a 6-5 record in the UFC.
