A lightweight bout appears to be in the works for June’s upcoming UFC on FX 4 event between TUF 13 finalist Ramsey Nijem (5-2) and UFC newcomer C.J. Keith (8-0).

News of the matchup was reported by MMAWeekly.com who learned of the bout through Nijem’s management.

UFC on FX 4 is expected to take place on June 22, 2012 at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The event is headlined by a lightweight bout between Gray Maynard and Clay Guida.

Nijem is 1-1 in the UFC, winning his last match in October at UFC 137. The bout saw Nijem return to lightweight winning a decision victory over Danny Downes at the Las Vegas. Previous to that Nijem debuted at the TUF 13 Finale against Tony Ferguson, losing by first round knockout.

Keith is undefeated earning eight straight victories. He signed with the UFC several months ago but had his debut delayed due to a fire which saw his family house burned down. Keith had his last fight in October, earning a first round TKO finish at a TWC event in California.

The final years of Tito Ortiz’s career haven’t exactly gone as the MMA legend would have hoped. Aside from a submission win over Ryan Bader that has since been written off by many as a fluke, Ortiz hasn’t won since his third fight with Ken Shamrock in October 2006.

However, Ortiz will have a chance to leave the sport on a high note at July’s UFC 148, when he will meet Forrest Griffin in a rubber match that is expected to bring a close to the 37-year-old’s career. The former champions traded split-decision victories in their first two meetings, so the third bout between Ortiz and Griffin is expected to be another close and entertaining fight.

As MMA’s first generation of great fighters continue to age, there are sure to be more fighters who join Ortiz in retirement in 2012. Here are a handful of retirement fights we’d like to see for some of the sport’s great fighters before this year comes to an end.
