Earlier Tonight (Sat. October 31, 2020) UFC Fight Night: Hall vs. Silva took place from the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The facility played host to a matchup between UFC Middleweight contender Uriah Hall and legendary former Middleweight champion Anderson Silva. The two technical strikers engaged in a matchup that saw each have their moments before Hall was able to find the finishing blow and secure his victory. While this was spoken of to be the great Anderson Silva’s final fight during a post-fight interview the Spider shared that he was unsure of his future at this moment and could not confirm he wouldn’t fight again. In the co-main event rising Featherweight star Bryce Mitchell took on tested veteran Andre Fili. Mitchell used his grappling pedigree to weather the storm and edge out Fili on the scorecards. Outside of these two fights, there were plenty of great moments on the card, some warranting bonuses.

Miles Johns secured himself the first Performance of the Night bonus for his third round knockout of Kevin Nativdad. Johns widely dominated the fight with his grappling before finding a home for his right uppercut to put Nativdad to sleep and earn himself the victory in the opening fight of the night.

The second Performance of the Night bonus went to Adrian Yanez for his finish against Victor Rodriguez. After the pair engaged in the clinch against the cage, Yanez was able to break free and land some effective striking before closing the show with a brutal head kick in the first round.

Following that fight came another Performance of the Night earning bout when Alexander Hernandez broke his losing streak knocking out Chris Gruetzemacher in round one. Hernandez dominated on the feet before landing a flurry of punches to close the show.

The Final Performance of the Night bonus went to Kevin Holland for his dominant verbal submission victory against UFC newcomer Kevin Ontiveros. After a switch-up in opponents, we saw Ontiveros make his debut pitting his technical striking ability against the streaking Middleweight Holland. After some early adversity, Holland quickly secured a takedown dominating on the ground before Ontiveros managed back to his feet. From there Holland slammed Ontiveros down once again to which the newcomer voiced an injury forcing Herb Dean to step in and call the fight.

In what was likely his last fight in the UFC, Anderson Silva suffered defeat at the hands of Uriah Hall.

The pair took part in a middleweight bout in the UFC Vegas 12 headliner on Saturday in what was a back-and-forth contest with many observers having Silva winning the first two rounds.

However, Hall was able to drop Silva after connecting right near the ear at the end of the third round. “The Spider” survived to make the fourth but would get dropped again by Hall who landed ground and pound to get the finish.

As a result, Hall got the biggest win of his career — notably against his idol — and has now won four of his last five fights.

IT’S TIME! The UFC Vegas 12 main event is finally upon us. Uriah Hall puts place in the middleweight top ten on the line when he squares off against MMA legend, Anderson Silva in what could be the final fight in the career of ‘The Spider”’. Who’ll win? Let’s find out…

Round 1: It’s a feeling out process in the first minute of this fight. Uriah Hall is edging forward as Anderson Silva moves around the octagon. About 90 seconds in and both men exchange leg kicks in the first bit of action. Silva tries a kick upstairs but Hall sees it coming and gets his hands up to block it. ‘Prime Time’ tries a high kick of his own but slips. Silva catches him on the way up with a nice left hand. ‘The Spider’ is starting to let his hands go. He’s swarming on Hall now and the TUF runner-up doesn’t like it. Hall manages to land a one-two that just puts an end to the relentless attacks from Silva. The former middleweight king lands a beautiful spinning heel kick to the calf of his opponent. Hall puts together a couple of punches, he needs more of it. Silva storms forward with a three punch combo, looks like two of them landed just before the horn sounds to end round one.

Round 2: Once again not a lot is happening at the start of this round. Both men are burning lot’s of energy, moving a fair deal too but nothing significant has been thrown or landed. Two minutes in now and Hall and Silva begin to trade kicks. Just as the fight looks to be building momentum we have a stoppage due to loose tape on the glove of Hall. We are back underway, Silva begins advancing forward in the quirky way we’ve seem him do so throughout his Hall of Fame career. ‘The Spider’ lands a couple of low kicks. Hall just about lands with a jab. This has been a really dull second stanza. Hall spins for a kick which somewhat lands on the chest of Silva. Both men exchange powerful jabs for the most significant shots of the five minutes before the round ends.

Round 3: Silva lands an unorthodox punch to the body at the start of the third round. He goes high with the kick but misses. Hall pops out the jab but doesn’t follow up with anything. The 36-year-old almost sneaks a kick of his own upstairs. A lot of hand fighting, not a lot of actual fighting. Hall lands another jab. Silva lands low with the kick, Hall spins and misses. They are getting a little loose now. Silva tries an axe kick a follow up with an overhand. The Brazilian is starting to gain some momentum now. Silva lands a punch and Hall seems to signal for an eye poke – Herb Dean waves away his protests. Silva lands on the way in then clinches against the fence. He’s stomping down on his opponents foot – that looks painful. As round three draws to a close both men thrown down and Hall gets the better of it. A right over the top drops Silva. Hall is swarming on the floor looking for the finish but the bell saves ‘The Spider’ who was hanging on.

Round 4: Silva seems fine at the start of round four. He again tries for another head kick which doesn’t quite come off. ‘The Spider’ comes flying in with wild punches but he gets dropped again on his way in. Hall has plenty of time to work his ground strikes this time and gets the finish.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Uriah Hall def. Anderson Silva via TKO in round four.

The Ultimate Fighter 17 finalist, Uriah ‘Primetime’ Hall looks to notch his third consecutive victory and arguably the most high-profile win of his career, as he headlines the Las Vegas event opposite division icon, Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva.

35-year-old Spanish Town native, Hall has scored recent wins over both Antonio Carlos Junior and Bevon Lewis over the last two-years, return to the win-column after a knockout loss to one-time middleweight championship challenger, Paulo Costa. The Fortis MMA trainee has won eight separate times in the Octagon, scoring other noteworthy victories over the likes of recently minted Bellator middleweight champion, Gegard Mousasi, and one-time light heavyweight championship chaser, Thiago Santos.

Limited to just one triumph since July of 2013, veteran Brazilian icon, Silva seems to be on the verge of a somewhat retirement from the sport, or at least the end of his promotional stint, having featured a staggering twenty-four times under the organization’s scrutiny.

A dominant former middleweight champion, Silva had scored an incredible ten separate successful title defences, including infamous victories over the likes of Rich Franklin, Dan Henderson, Chael Sonnen (x2), and compatriot, Vitor Belfort.

Taking co-main event honours, streaking Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace, Bryce ‘Thug Nasty’ Mitchell attempts to extend his undefeated professional run to fourteen fights. The 26-year-old Arkansas native will sport his requested camouflage fight kit for the first time tonight, as he meets with featherweight mainstay, Andre ‘Touchy’ Fili.

In the UFC Vegas 12 main event, we have the #10 ranked middleweight taking on 185lb legend Anderson Silva in what many believe will be the final fight in the career of ‘The Spider”. Will Hall continue his rise into title contention? Or will Silva secure one more highlight-reel finish? Let’s see what the LowKickMMA staff think…

Jordan Ellis: As far as final fights go this one really isn’t too bad for Anderson Silva. Despite his poor form as of late I don’t think ‘The Spider’ is outmatched in this one. However, I do expect Uriah Hall to emerge victorious tonight. He’s a decent fighter and I don’t see him falling to a 45-year-old. Hall should be able to get the finish – he just needs to go for it.

Prediction: Uriah Hall

Ross Markey: Former middleweight champion, Anderson Silva seems to be in two-minds regarding his future beyond tonight’s UFC Vegas 12 headliner opposite, Uriah Hall. He’s explained previously how he plans on bowing out tonight, but he’s also noted how this fight may be just his last under the UFC’s banner. For Hall, the TUF finalist is in a rich-vein of form at this moment, scoring three wins in his last four, and while a stunning, throwback performance from Silva would serve as an ideal way to cap off his career or even his UFC run, Hall should have the timing and ability to stop Silva within the opening two-rounds.

Prediction: Uriah Hall

Harry O’Connor:

How nice would it be if Anderson Silva picked up a win in a UFC main event at the age of 45, the fact that he’s still headlining UFC cards are this age is unreal. I think this will very much be a case of Uriah Hall being the younger and fresher man, we know the power he carries and you can’t help but feel with Silva’s age, he’s going to get tagged and I think it will only be a matter of time before he is put away. I’m going to go with Uriah Hall via KO in round 2.

Prediction: Uriah Hall

Karim Nathan: I think this is a very tough one to predict how it goes. Silva is obviously not the same as he used to be but however he just went toe to toe with the current champ, while Hall has been undefeated since changing camps but also not against elite competition. Hall will have the speed advantage so I think that will be enough for him to grab a decision win.

Prediction: Uriah Hall
