UFC Legend Vitor Belfort’s son, Davi Belfort, is making waves in the sports world of his own.

The younger Belfort has secured an offer from Nick Saban to take his talents to the University of Alamba when he finishes high school. There’s just one thing. Belfort hasn’t even started high school yet.

The rising freshman has yet to take a single snap in a high school game. Yet, the offer from Alabama is Belfort’s third. He’s also received offers from Arizona State and Florida Atlantic. Belfort took to Twitter to announce the offer, with proud papa retweeting his post.

As odd as it may seem, many colleges have begun actively recruiting and making offers to middle school athletes viewed as five-star prospects. As a 6’0, 185-pound eighth-grader with great potential at the quarterback position, it’s no surprise that scholarship offers are already coming in.

Belfort will start high school in the fall at the prestigious Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach, Florida, and play under coach Jack Daniels. Daniels, who has coached the likes of Miami Dolphins quarterback Jacoby Brissett and several Division I quarterbacks, will likely help Belfort develop the skills he will need at Alabama.

Recently interviewed by his local newspaper, Belfort was humble and excited about the offer.

“They saw me throw in the morning part [of the camp] and then after the morning part was when they decided to offer me,” Belfort said. “He (Saban) called me in his office and we had a great conversation. He said he normally doesn’t offer kids that early. He’s really excited to see me grow and develop on the high-school stage. He said he’s definitely going to be watching me.”

“It was definitely a surreal moment,” Belfort said. “It was an honor talking to one of the greatest coaches in the history of college football, it was such an honor, it was amazing.”

Davi Belfort inherited Vitor Belfort’s athleticism. He also inherited his approach to the pressures of competing at a high level.

“[The offer] definitely doesn’t put any pressure on me. … Some people think it does, but I don’t see any pressure to it,” Belfort said. “I’m just really happy. If anything, it takes pressure off of me. I’m not worried about if it takes pressure off of me or not. I’m just worried about my fall season. I can’t wait to keep on getting better. As soon as I get home, I’m going to get back to what got me to this point, and I still have a lot to improve in my game.”

How do you think Davi Belfort will perform once he gets to Alabama?

ESPN’s Ariel Helwani reported yesterday that former UFC star Vitor Belfort is in the process of making a boxing match happen with Triller on June 19. In what comes as no surprise for Triller, Belfort is lined up to face YouTube star Mike Holston, better known as “Tarzann.”

“There is a signed deal in place for @vitorbelfort vs. @therealtarzann to take place on the June 19 Triller card, per @RyanKavanaugh,” Helwani’s tweet said.

“12-ounce gloves, eight two-minute rounds. Pro bout, pending Florida commission approval likely tomorrow. Belfort is 1-0 as a boxer (2006).”

While the 44-year-old former UFC champion signed with the ONE Championship in March 2019, he never competed for the Asian-based MMA promotion, Helwani did go on to confirm Belfort is no longer with the promotion.

We haven’t seen Belfort compete in the Octagon since his brutal KO loss to Lyoto Machida in 2018.

Belfort and his next opponent in Holston have already met face to face. Holston posted a video to Instagram around the same time the news came out. He and Belfort are seen having a brief altercation that since has brought the community to question its authenticity, including that of UFC great Daniel Cormier.

Belfort notably called out Jake Paul, citing that he would “knock him out”. Maybe if he knocks out Holston, Belfort will have an opportunity against the fast rising star in Jake Paul.

Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort have had their fair share of differences in the past, stemming from their intense rivalry leading up to their fight at UFC 126.

But in a recent interview with AG Sport, Silva praised his old adversary for having the courage to make the transition from Mixed Martial Arts to Boxing so late in his combat sports career.

“Vitor is a great athlete, a great fighter,” Silva said. “Anything is possible. Vitor is a super talent, he’s a guy who, for sure, will be very successful in boxing. I think it’s a new era of entertainment in terms of combat, and it’s been really cool for everyone. Good luck to Vitor in this endeavor. I’m sure he will be very successful,”

Belfort recently revealed his intentions to switch from MMA to Boxing during a recent appearance at Floyd Mayweather’s academy. Belfort was signed by ONE Championship nearly two years ago but about never materialized for his anticipated debut in the promotion.

Silva announced his retirement from the UFC and a switch to Boxing recently as well, and is scheduled to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on June 16th in Mexico.

Silva is widely considered one of the greatest UFC fighters of all time but had a rough stint towards the end of his career in the promotion. He lost seven of his last nine UFC fights including a TKO loss to Uriah Hall at UFC Vegas 12.

Belfort originally announced his retirement from MMA after falling to Lyoto Machida at UFC 224, before coming out of retirement just a year later. Belfort holds the records for most knockouts in UFC history (12), and became the youngest UFC tournament winner at age 19 by securing the UFC heavyweight tournament win over Scott Ferrozzo back at UFC 12.

Despite their tense back-and-forth in the past, it’s nice to see Silva and Belfort show respect to each other as they begin a new venture in their careers. It’ll be interesting to see how the two elite strikers perform in Boxing.

Vitor Belfort is looking to begin a new journey in Boxing before his combat sports career is all said and done.

The Brazilian made the announcement while at Floyd Mayweather’s boxing academy on Tuesday, saying that he’d be open to boxing matches with Anderson Silva and Oscar De La Hoya.

Belfort alluded to the fact that his ONE Championship contract is nearing a conclusion and that he is already thinking about the next stage of his career after his time with the promotion is over.

“Our agreement is about to end. We have no fight there,” Belfort said in an interview with AG Fight. “But this is boxing, I am free to fight boxing, I heard that Oscar de la Hoya is looking for someone to face. Oscar, don’t be afraid.”

“Anderson and I, it would be a big rematch in boxing. It could be Oscar, Anderson, Holyfield. There is a list of guys who can make this happen.”

Belfort was expected to make his ONE Championship debut against Alain Ngalani, but the fight has never come to fruition after over a year of talks with the promotion. Belfort last competed in MMA for the UFC at UFC 224, a fight in which he was knocked out by Lyoto Machida in the second round.

Despite being on the sidelines for an extended period of time, Belfort sounds extremely motivated to make his return to combat sports. He is highly regarded as one of the most vicious mixed martial artists in history and would be a welcomed addition to any promotion.

Curiously enough, his announcement comes just a couple of months after his former rival, Silva announced that he would be taking a boxing match against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. MMA fans new and old would most certainly pay attention to a potential boxing matchup between Silva and Belfort down the line.
