It’s no secret that Bellator MMA is working on booking another fight between Wanderlei Silva and Quinton Jackson for the fourth time.
Bellator President Scott Coker went on record just last week by saying that the promotion is looking to make this fight a reality.
The promotion has yet to confirm the venue or a date for the bout as well as a weight class that the two fighters will be fighting at. There is speculation that this potential bout could take place in Brazil.
Silva returned to action from an extended layoff this past June but was defeated by Sonnen over three rounds on pay-per-view at Bellator NYC at Madison Square Garden.
The MMA Legend recently did an interview talking about the fight.
“I’m trying to bring my fight against Rampage to Arena da Baixada.” Wanderlei told Combate. “I want both Pitbull brothers (Patricky Freire and Patricio Freire) there as well, middleweight champion Rafael Carvalho and Goiti Yamauchi. Bellator really wants to come to Brazil and this Rampage fight came up, which can fill up a stadium by itself.
“I met the guys who work at Arena da Baixada when Fabricio Werdum fought there for the UFC. They’re very professional and are making it possible for Bellator to make the trip. It was a fantastic meeting. They said all I to do is warm up and show up, because they’ll do everything they can to make that happen.”
“Rampage’s name came up naturally. He looked at me funny during a recent event and I told Bellator to match him up with me. He’s the perfect opponent. I won twice, he won one time out of luck. There was no fight, he just landed one in my chin. I want to make things clear. There could not be a better debut for Bellator in Brazil than that.”
Silva and Jackson have faced off three times under two different promoters. By looking at the history books, Silva won the first two in the now-defunct PRIDE, while Jackson won the third in the UFC.
“I want to show I’m better than him. Who doesn’t want to see that live? It’s MMA history. People from the entire world will watch that. Rampage will be knocked out again just like the first two times. I’m going to throw him over the cage, out of the Octagon.”

When it comes to establishing who MMA’s all-time hardest hitters are, nobody is better placed to make the call than the fighters who have had the misfortune to experience that punching power firsthand.
With that in mind, in this article, we’ll be going beyond just the facts and figures about who hits the hardest by taking on board the opinions of some of mixed martial arts biggest stars as they reveal from personal experience who has the heaviest hands in the sport.
Check out the 10 hardest-hitting fighters in MMA according to the fighters themselves.
Wanderlei Silva
In his heyday, Wanderlei Silva was arguably the most intimidating fighter in the sport, known for his berserker style of brawling that saw him demolish 27 opponents with strikes as he beat opponents from middleweight all the way through to heavyweight.
Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz has said that the hardest punch he ever felt was delivered by Silva, who, “threw an overhand right and caught me right on the chin,” during their fight at UFC 25. “It literally felt like the earth had been turned upside down.”
Another ex-UFC light-heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin also gives the nod to Silva after having a traumatic experience going up against him in training.
”Who hit me the hardest consistently was definitely Wanderlei,” Griffin said during a fan Q&A. “Sparring with him is a horrible idea – it takes years off your life. Don’t do it!”
Former heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum can vouch for that, as he’s gone on record that the first time he sparred Silva he was flash-KO’d twice by him in quick succession despite being in top control at the time.
The granite-chinned Dan Henderson has also claimed that Silva was his toughest-ever opponent, having suffered the first loss of his career to him at PRIDE 12, while he went on to tell MMAJunkie that, “hardest hitter might go to Wanderlei also.”

Bellator MMA is going back for more and is hoping that fight fans around the world are interested in seeing Wanderlei Silva fight Quinton Jackson for the fourth time.
The Viacom owned promotion is in an interesting place right now. Under the Scott Coker era, it started with a mixture of established names with some younger talent and free agents.
Then in 2017, the promotion went in the direction of trying legitimate fights and no more “freak show” fights.
However, it appears that 2018 will be the year that the promotion goes back to the more established names, which is not a bad idea as it will bring more eyeballs to their product.
The Bellator President confirmed to MMAjunkie that the promotion is working on booking this fight at an upcoming event.
As of this writing, the promotion has yet to confirm the venue or a date for the bout as well as a weight class that the two fighters will be fighting at. There is speculation that this potential bout could take place in Brazil.
Jackson was recently active in the Bellator cage as he lost in the eight-man tournament’s quarterfinals by falling short to former title contender Chael Sonnen at Bellator 192.
The former UFC light heavyweight champion Jackson has fought as a heavyweight for his past three bouts.
This fight would make sense at heavyweight due to the fact that Jackson has gone on record in previous interviews by stating that he suffers from a thyroid condition that makes the cut to light heavyweight too difficult. Silva returned to action from an extended layoff this past June but was defeated by Sonnen over three rounds on pay-per-view at Bellator NYC at Madison Square Garden.
Now to the history between these two fighters. Silva and Jackson have faced off three times under two different promoters.
By looking at the history books, Silva won the first two in the now-defunct PRIDE, while Jackson won the third in the UFC.
Earlier this week, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, who was recently eliminated from the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix after suffering a defeat to Chael Sonnen, told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour that he’d like to take on Wanderlei Silva for a fourth time in his next fight. Silva also appears to be interested, although he has […]
Earlier this week, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, who was recently eliminated from the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix after suffering a defeat to Chael Sonnen, told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour that he’d like to take on Wanderlei Silva for a fourth time in his next fight.
Silva also appears to be interested, although he has one condition that needs to be met in order to make the fight happen:
”I will (talk to Bellator president Scott Coker), but I want to do this rematch with ‘Rampage’ at Arena da Baixada, in Curitiba,” Silva told Gazeto do Povo (Via MMAFighting.com) “I’ll put this as a condition, to be in my hometown. Then it would be worth the effort. Money alone isn’t worth it, it has to be something more, and that would be fighting in front of my friends in Curitiba.”
Silva, who’s also coming off of a defeat to Sonnen, has spent the majority of his career competing at middleweight and light heavyweight, while Jackson has competed at heavyweight as of late.
That wouldn’t be a problem for “The Axe Murderer”, however, as he said that “Rampage” is ‘fat’ and that he’d ‘beat him up like a roly-poly toy’:
”I’m kind of big, too, with 229 pounds,” he said. “I’m training a bit stronger. He’s fat. I want to beat him up like a roly-poly toy. I’d beat him up. I hate him so much.
”That knockout he gave me (at UFC 92), hit a lucky hand on my chin. And after I went down he went there and landed another one. I hate him. I only wait for the next one to return the favor. It will be a brawl, the way people want.”
Although Silva has won two of the three bouts with Jackson, scoring stoppage victories at Pride Final Conflict 2003 and Pride 28, it appears as if the Brazilian legend wants his revenge for the way the third fight ended.

Silva has been known for dishing out knockouts throughout his career, but he’s also been on the receiving end of concussions.
