Things just got real.

Earlier Wednesday, a bomb dropped in the UFC world when news broke, per Thomas Gerbasi of UFC.com, that Jon “Bones” Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson II would be postponed due to a Gustafsson injury suffered in training and that contender Daniel Cormier will be stepping in for the light heavyweight title fight at UFC 178.

While virtually everyone wants to see a Bones vs. Gustafsson rematch following their controversial and surprisingly even battle last year, Jones has been itching for a shot to take on Cormier, who’s a former Olympic wrestler and Strikeforce champion.

As you can see from the above video, the confidence he has in himself is shared by his family. Leah Jones, age six, clearly has no fear that her father will take a beating.

Jones seems pleased by the news:

This comes as no surprise considering the manner in which he has defended his desire to face Cormier:

Everyone wants to fight Floyd Mayweather. Sure, the No. 1 pound-for-pound boxing champion is undefeated (with 26 of those wins coming via knockout), but when you fight Floyd, one thing is certain: You’re going to get paid.

In addition to the cash, merely being mentioned to fight the greatest boxer alive (sorry, Manny Pacquiao fans) puts you in elite company. Sometimes, however, people go a little overboard with the hype.

UFC president Dana White says UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey would “hurt [Floyd] bad.” Joe Rogan says Rousey would beat Mayweather in an MMA fight. Even Rousey echoes that sentiment.

Floyd Mayweather’s response to the notion of fighting Ronda Rousey?

“I don’t know who he is.”

Ronda Rousey was expected to defeat Alexis Davis in the first round. The fight lasted 16 seconds before the referee called it. The question on everyone’s mind—can anyone stop her?

The final fight of the night was Chris Weidman vs. Lyoto Machida. Weidman was coming off two wins over the legendary Anderson Silva, but many wondered if the fluky nature of those wins meant that Weidman’s supremacy was undeserved. He silenced the doubters loud and clear.

Weidman looked cool and calm early, landing plenty of strikes and opening up Machida’s face. Ultimately, he would win by unanimous decision.

Dana White may be the president of the UFC, but Mike Tyson answers to no one.

White posted the above video to his Instagram account on Tuesday. Their interaction said it all:

Tyson: (Slap) Hey, come on, move it.

White: I like this seat!

Tyson: I like it better.

A silly attempt at a joke between two friends? Almost certainly. But that look on Dana’s face after the slap sure seemed authentic…

UPDATE: June 18, 2014 at 7:10 a.m. PT

Mike Tyson apparently did not stop the torment after taking Dana White’s seat.

Jon “Bones” Jones has gone full heel.

A lot has been made about how the reigning UFC light heavyweight champion is “ducking” a rematch with Alexander Gustafsson. Gustafsson gave Bones one of the hardest fights of his life in September 2013, leaving the champion battered and bruised. Bones won in a very controversial unanimous decision, and a rematch has been expected and anticipated ever since.

Yet here we are, with no date set and no contract signed.

Naturally, fans have been quick to accuse Jones of “ducking,” and they may be right. Jones, however, responds to that claim in the above video. Saying that he wants a match against the rapidly ascending Daniel Cormier, he does not feel that the ducking argument holds water.

His response isn’t exactly kind, either.

Note: Jones deleted the video on his Instagram account shortly after posting.
