Ronda Rousey has a bone to pick with Kim Kardashian.

The Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champ fielded questions on the red carpet at the wrap party for ESPN “The Body Issue” on Wednesday night.

One reporter asked Rousey what celebrity she disliked most and would step into the cage against.

Never one to disappoint, Rousey had plenty to say about celebrity heartthrob Kim Kardashian.

“You know what, I would beat the crap out of Kim Kardashian actually. Any girl who is famous and idolized because she made a sex video with some guy and that’s all that you’re known for, ‘Oh, I got my fame for [expletive],’ I think it’s pretty stupid, sorry, but it’s true.”

Out of 27 professional athletes, Rousey was chosen to be featured on the cover of the July issue of ESPN The Magazine. Through her hard work and sacrifice, she hopes to be a true role model others can look up to, especially her 14-year-old sister.

“Why is everyone slipping it under the carpet now? She’s selling Sketchers to 13-year-olds. I don’t want some girl, whose entire fame is based on a sex video, to be selling Sketchers to my little sister.

Girls like Kim Kardashian are being pushed in my little sister’s face, and it’s just not healthy. She shouldn’t need to have role models like this, and that’s why I’m doing stuff like ESPN Body because someone needs to do it.”

Whether it’s fighting or playing basketball, Jon Jones is all business when it comes to sports.

On Tuesday, the UFC light heavyweight champion made a guest appearance on ESPN’s SportsNation. There, he entered a three-point shooting contest set up to win a couple of lucky fans tickets to the 2012 ESPY Awards.

The objective of the contest was for Jones to make one basket with a limit of only three attempts.

After missing the entire rim on the first attempt, Jones sunk the second basket to win the contest.

It was a good chance for fans to finally see the champ out and about, despite ongoing legal issues stemming from a DWI incident in May.

The Press & Sun-Bulletin (h/t ESPN.com) is reporting that Jones is expected to be sentenced on July 31.

He will be charged with a misdemeanor for driving while intoxicated in an incident that resulted in him running his 2012 Bentley into a utility pole.

NSAC Could Punish “Unprofessional” Anderson Silva, Chael Sonnen Against It

Chael Sonnen may have saved Anderson Silva from serious trouble with the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

The NSAC is mulling over the possibility of disciplining Silva for his actions at the UFC 148 weigh-ins.

After weighing in for the fight, Silva threw a shoulder at Sonnen during an intense staredown. There wasn’t any serious damage done, but the shoulder did hit Sonnen in the mouth.

After the incident, NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer told Silva and his camp that similar stunts won’t be tolerated in the future, and another such incident could result in the termination of Silva’s fighting license in the state of Nevada.

Kizer recently spoke with MMAjunkie about his heated discussion with the UFC champ.

“Anderson had some very lame excuse initially about, ‘Oh, well, Chael put his head down at the beginning of that.’ I’m like, ‘C’mon, that’s silly.’ And then he said, ‘Well, I’m upset about what he said about my wife.’ I said, ‘Look, I understand that, but that’s not an excuse for doing what you did. It’s inexcusable what you did.’

[Silva] wasn’t very happy with us pointing that out to him, but he understood. I finally had to say to him, ‘Look, if you ever, despite your previous record with us as a good licensee, if you ever do anything like this again, that’s it for you in Nevada. You’ll be fighting your fights elsewhere.'”

Before speaking with Silva, Kizer asked for Sonnen’s opinion on what type of discipline should be handed down. Since Sonnen was the one attacked, Kizer thought it was only fair to give him an opportunity to have some input on the punishment.

Kizer continues:

“I wanted to respect Chael’s opinion. He definitely doesn’t need me to fight his battles. Hopefully, we’ll never see anything like that again from Mr. Silva. I talked to [Sonnen] and said look, ‘What’s your view? What’s your level of outrage, so to speak?’ And he was very forgiving.

I’ve got to give him a lot of credit. He basically said to me that he wasn’t looking for any kind of serious discipline against Anderson, that he’d forgiven him. He wasn’t even sure if it was premeditated by Anderson. He was very gracious, very forgiving.

But I wanted to let him know. I said, ‘You’re the aggrieved party here. I want your input before the chairman makes a decision, here.’ His viewpoint was, ‘I’m not looking for you to discipline him or anything. If you want to do a small fine, that’s fine, but I wouldn’t even do any kind of fine.’ I said, ‘I appreciate your input, but it’s the chairman’s call. Your input is the most important of all.'”

According to Kizer, Silva apologized for the incident and admitted it wasn’t the right thing to do. He continued to attribute his actions to inappropriate comments made by Sonnen about his wife.

The NSAC has yet to make any decisions regarding a possible fine or suspension.

Chael Sonnen: “I Broke Anderson Silva, and He Came Back and Destroyed Me”

Anderson Silva earned Chael Sonnen’s respect at UFC 148.

After being dominated in the first round, Silva rallied once again in dramatic fashion to stop Sonnen and put to rest the storied feud that has captivated the MMA world for over two years.

In an interview with Jim Rome, UFC President Dana White opened up about Sonnen’s reaction backstage after losing to Silva for a second time:

Chael Sonnen, motivated, in great shape, injury free, couldn’t have been better going, and wanted that title so bad. That first round, you look at the way that happens, and this is what Chael Sonnen said to me after the fight. He didn’t say it at the press conference, but he said it to me.

He said, ‘I have so much respect for this guy, Dana. I’ve been competing in combat sports since I was seven-years-old. In that first round, when I was on top of him, and I was hitting him with those big elbows, I felt him break. I broke him in that first round. He came back in that second round and destroyed me. I’ve never seen anybody do that ever.’

The first round of the rematch was déjà vu for Silva fans, and not in a good way.

Sonnen stormed after Silva early, secured a takedown and spent the entire round in top position landing unanswered punches and elbows.

The second round proved to be a completely different story, as Silva fought off the takedown attempts and utilized his otherworldly striking to earn the TKO stoppage.

With the win, Silva extended his UFC record for most consecutive title defenses to 10. He plans to continue fighting as long as the UFC keeps throwing worthy challengers his way.

The future is a bit more clouded for Sonnen.

Some reports indicate the possibility of the “Oregon Gangster” hanging up his gloves and retiring from fighting.

Has the MMA world seen the last of Chael Sonnen?

Appeal Proves Silva-Sonnen Feud Far from Over, Rematch on the Horizon?

Chael Sonnen is proving to be an itch that Anderson Silva can’t seem to scratch.

As reported by Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Snowden, Sonnen’s camp is set to appeal his UFC 148 loss to “The Spider.”

The appeal is based around a knee thrown by Silva in the second round, which led to a TKO stoppage.

Sonnen, who was obviously downed at the time, took a knee directly in the chest from Silva.

At first glimpse, the knee looks clean, but with a closer look, it’s obvious Silva pops Sonnen in the face with the follow-through just above the knee. In the UFC, it is illegal to kick or knee a downed opponent in the head.

What counts as a knee? If not a knee, would Silva’s strike be defined as a kick?

Sonnen’s chances of winning such an appeal will likely be a long shot, but it is certainly within the realm of possibility.

Snowden caught up with Sonnen’s manager Scott McQuarry, who had plenty to say about the questionable knee thrown by Silva:

Chael’s not the kind of guy who likes to complain after a fight. I felt I needed to take this action to protect him. At the point of impact, Anderson had his hand locked in the cage and his feet left the ground. We believe his intentions were clear. We started the process of filing a complaint with the Nevada Athletic Commission. We believe the knee that Anderson Silva threw was illegal with the clear intent to strike the face. And it did in fact connect with the face. Chael bit his tongue and needed eight stitches.

We’re going to ask for a rematch. We deserve a rematch. If the only way Anderson Silva can win is by cheating, we need to keep a closer eye on Silva before and during a fight. And we need a rematch now. Legal knee or illegal knee, there’s enough doubt with all the fouls to warrant a rematch.

Silva has to be growing tired of the ongoing feud with Sonnen. For over two years, Sonnen has disrespected his family, teammates and the entire country of Brazil.

Silva has already defeated Sonnen twice, and both of the bouts ended in stoppages.

With that said, a potential rematch between Silva and Sonnen is good for business. The UFC 148 main event was arguably the biggest fight in UFC history. If Sonnen wins the appeal, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to think White would be quick to green-light the trilogy.

Buckle up, folks.

The Silva and Sonnen feud is far from over.

UFC 148 Results: Is Mike Easton a Threat at Bantamweight?

Mike “The Hulk” Easton may not be a giant, green superhero, but he is certainly garnering plenty of attention in the ever-growing UFC bantamweight division.

At UFC 148, he extended his win streak to eight with a unanimous decision victory over wily veteran Ivan Menjivar.

With the emergence of Renan Barao and Michael McDonald, the UFC bantamweight division is quickly loading up with talent. At 28 years of age, Easton is a legitimate bantamweight, who could one day crack into the upper-echelon portion of the division.

Unfortunately, he is still an unfinished body of work. Menjivar is undoubtedly a tough opponent, but Easton showed serious struggles in his ability to close the distance and cut off the cage.

Upper-echelon bantamweights such as champion Dominick Cruz, Urijah Faber and Barao are masters at utilizing range to their advantage. Cruz is especially a matchup nightmare for most fighters due to his ability to move in and out of the pocket so easily on opponents.

Easton is certainly a threat at bantamweight. He boasts rare knockout power for a 135-pounder combined with a strong grappling base. The Maryland native is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under world-renowned BJJ practitioner Lloyd Irvin.

It will be interesting to see how his wrestling stacks up against some of the tougher guys in the division. Future bouts against Brian Bowles or Scott Jorgensen would go a long way in forecasting Easton’s UFC future.

Will “The Hulk” continue to smash his way to the top, or is he bound to hit a wall when he faces stiffer opposition?
