Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has finally reflected on her pro-MMA career.

Rousey has been out of the fight game for two years. Despite that fact, she still remains silent on her last two bouts under the UFC banner. Up until those losses, she was a wrecking machine as she ran through the top contenders in the division at the time.

However, that all went away when she was dethroned of UFC gold by Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November 2015 as Holm knocked her out with a head kick in devastating style. Then, she suffered a 48-second TKO loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 in December 2016.

Since then, she has largely remained out of the spotlight and not done any interviews in which she talked about her MMA career.

Now, Rousey has signed with the WWE and is an active Superstar.

The sports entertainment company aired a special video package on Rousey’s training for her first professional wrestling match during this week’s episode of their flagship show, Monday Night Raw. During that video, she spoke about her loss to Nunes.

“I remember my last fight, walking away thinking ‘God hates me.’ I had nothing left in me,” Rousey said (transcript courtesy of MMA Fighting).

Rousey said talking with her husband, Travis Browne, is what helped her get out of her post-loss rut.

“My husband is amazing and he really brought me out of some tough times,” Rousey said. “He would just look at me and just say like, ‘You’re not only this.

You’re more than just a fighter.’ That’s not a bad thing, that’s not something I should be ashamed of, it’s something that I should embrace and showcase to the world and that’s why I’m here.

“I’m not afraid to care anymore,” Rousey said. “I needed to be miserable then to be truly happy now. It’s all led to this and I didn’t even realize that I’ve always been on this path.”

Rousey is set to team up with WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle to take on Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a Mixed Tag Team Match at the biggest event of the year for the WWE, WrestleMania 34.

“I thought the Olympic gold medal was all I was ever gonna care about,” Rousey said. “But life happens and things change. Then UFC was all I thought I was ever gonna care about. And then life happens and things change.

Winning in WrestleMania, it feels like all I’ve ever cared about. I’ve been accumulating all the skills along the way to be the best at this. I was always meant to be on this stage. I was always meant to be at WrestleMania.”

WrestleMania 34 is set to be held on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

This event airs on pay-per-view (PPV) and WWE Network. It’s the most successful and longest-running professional wrestling event in history. Both Raw and SmackDown rosters will be featured.

Ronda Rousey may now be in the WWE, and she also may have been blasted for her obvious lack of striking skill during her precipitous MMA downfall, but apparently, that doesn’t mean she’s giving up on the sweet science.

Except for this time, she’ll be doing it in a managerial role. Yes, Ronda Rousey is reportedly a boxing manager.

News came this week that Rousey had procured her first client Ferdinand Koberyan while seemingly partnering with Oscar de la Hoya’s Golden Boy Productions, who announced the signing online:

Koberyan is a 20-year-old fighter who currently resides in Rousey’s home state California after moving from his native Armenia.

Rousey has long been linked to the Armenian community, specifically in her relationship with highly criticized coach Edmond Tarverdyan, but her ties to the people hearken back to her time as an Olympic medal-winning judo player.

Rousey also discussed the signing on Instagram, congratulating Koberyan:

Finally, Koberyan expressed excitement at his signing in his own post:

Scheduled to team with Olympic wrestling medalist Kurt Angle and take on WWE executives Stephanie McMahon and Paul Levesque in her first official pro-wrestling match at April 8’s WrestleMania 34, Rousey left the UFC after two consecutive knockout losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes.

The 31-year-old women’s MMA legend recently said the chances of her returning to the UFC were very slim and were as likely as her returning to judo to make the Olympics.

Exactly what she will do in terms of being a manager for fighters is unknown, and some are speculating she’ll simply be a public face for signing fighters to Tarverdyan’s Glendale Fighting Club.

Cyborg: Amanda Nunes Using My Name To Build Her Brand

Following Cris Cyborg’s first-round stoppage victory over Yana Kunitskaya at UFC 222 earlier this month, UFC President Dana White said that a bout between Cyborg and bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes was what he would like to see next.

Recently, however, it was announced that Nunes would be defending her 135-pound strap against Raquel Pennington in the main event of May 12’s UFC 224 from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

That doesn’t completely close the door on a bout between the “Lioness” and Cyborg, but the featherweight champion has begun to question whether or not Nunes actually wants the fight:

“I’m beginning to think Amanda Nunes only brought up my name to negotiate a new deal with the UFC,” Cyborg told Combate.com (Via MMAjunkie). “Like a lot of the girls, she just wants to use my name to build her brand.”

Cyborg has long expressed interest in the super fight taking place at UFC 226, which is set to take place on July 7, 2018 during International Fight Week in Las Vegas, Nevada, but if it doesn’t, she’ll be ready to move on:

“If Amanda isn’t ready to go for UFC 226 in Las Vegas I have told my team I want to fight whomever is ready,” Cyborg said. “I explained to my manager that if Amanda wins in Rio and then declines the fight for July, that I don’t want to invest any more time into trying to make this fight happen. We can visit the fight again if Nunes decides to return to featherweight and establish herself in the division against the number one contender.”

There is, however, one positive that Cyborg sees out of Nunes fighting at UFC 224 in Brazil:

“The nice thing about Nunes facing Pennington in Brazil is it will give my team another opportunity to see how big of a fanbase she has in Brazil and how many pay-per-view buys she can sell in the U.S., giving us a better picture of her side of the super fight.”

Is this a fight you’d still like to see?
