41-year-old former longtime UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva finally got back into the win column with a controversial decision victory over Derek Brunson at this February’s UFC 208 from Brooklyn, New York.

Now back to his winning ways, Silva appears to be focused on landing a big fight, and there have been rumors suggesting his next fight could take place in his home of Brazil on June 3, 2017 at UFC 212. If that’s the case, “The Spider” would like a rematch with his former opponent Nick Diaz, as he stated earlier today on his official Instagram account.

Silva also expressed interest in a rematch with reigning 185-pound titleholder Michael Bisping:

“We are three great professionals, what makes the most sense at the moment, is not his fight with any other, but with me, regardless of belt. Regardless of the show, we respect each other, a new fight between us, would be a great fight of gentlemen,” Silva wrote.

“Because with Nick [Diaz], it was a no contest, we have a story to tell, I’ll wait for you in Brazil. And I’m waiting for you, Mr. Bisping, after your fight with GSP.”

Silva scored a unanimous decision victory over Diaz at UFC 183 in Jan. 2015, but it was later changed to a no-contest after both men failed drug tests. “The Spider” would end up serving out a year long suspension before returning to take on Bisping in Feb. 2016 in an entertaining bout that he lost via decision.

“The Count” is currently set to take on the returning Georges St. Pierre later this year and Diaz has yet to book a fight since his suspension ended last August.

Who would you like to see Silva fight next?

Anderson Silva Still Looking For Michael Bisping Rematch

Reigning UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping and former longtime divisional kingpin Anderson Silva have gone back-and-forth in the media ever since the final bell rang in their controversial Feb. 2016 bout, a fight in which Bisping won via decision. Reigning UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping and former longtime divisional kingpin Anderson Silva have gone back-and-forth in the media ever since the final bell rang in their controversial Feb. 2016 bout, a fight in which Bisping won via decision.

Although the two have indeed taken shots at each other, Silva feels as if the feud is ‘healthy’:

“Actually, he is controversial,” Silva told “Combate News” on Combate (and translated by MMAjunkie). “Every now and then, he posts something, taunts. I actually shouldn’t keep up with the pace of his taunting, but it’s funny because people follow us on Twitter, and it’s cool, because they end up interacting.

“It’s nice, in a level, because it’s healthy. We are not attacking each other. Although he sometimes crosses the line, it’s healthy. And I think it’s important for the fans to have that interaction of taunting each other a little bit, within our limits and what we feel is right.”

“The Spider” has fallen on rough times as of late, as he’s lost four of his last five bouts with the fifth being changed to a no-contest after he failed a drug test surrounding a Jan. 2015 bout with Nick Diaz. Despite his fall from greatness, the Brazilian legend feels as if he beat Bisping, and he explained why below:

“In my opinion, I won,” Silva said. “It was very controversial because he landed two strikes when I was out of balance. He ended up getting the points. There was a situation when he was on top for a while, but I think I won the fight. Because when he ate the knee, the bell rang. And the rule, if I’m not mistaken, says he needs to get up on his own to go to his corner. He didn’t get up on his own and, while I was up in the cage, the commission came in.

“The commission never enters if the fight isn’t over. So when the commission came in, I was already celebrating, because he was knocked out. It’s a sport, I didn’t have to keep attacking him, also because the bell rang. But it’s done, it’s over. After he was knocked down, they brought in the stool for him to sit. The commission helped him get up and sit on the stool. He didn’t get up on his own. He was sitting in my corner, then they removed the stool, and put it in his corner, and he was sitting down for a while.”

Due to the fact that he feels as if he got the better of “The Count”, Silva would like a rematch ‘regardless’ of if Bisping is the champion or not:

“In my opinion, I (beat Bisping),” he said. “But it’s OK. He’s the champion, he needs to be respected, and I hope to have another opportunity to fight him regardless of it being for the belt.”

At age 41, Silva is clearly past his prime when he reigned over the 185-pound division for nearly seven years, but he did say that he has ‘five or six’ fights left on his contract, which he unsurprisingly plans to complete:

“The truth is that I still have a few fights left in my contract,” he said. “I have, I think, still five or six fights left in my contract. I intend to do them. And since I fight in the (middleweight) division, there may be (a rematch with Bisping). Depending on my performances, I might have the opportunity to fight for the belt again.

“But it’s not something that I’m seeking. I want to do the fights that I need to for my contract. (I want to) put on good fights, of course, and I hope to win all of them and give a good show to the fans.”

Could “The Spider” have one last run left in him, or has time simply passed him by?

It’s hardly a secret that nearly every fighter from 145 pounds all the way up to 170 pounds wants a fight with featherweight champion Conor McGregor, but the latest man to call him out may come as a surprise.

That fighter was none other than longtime former middleweight champion Anderson Silva, who most recently loss a closely contested decision to Michael Bisping at UFC Fight Night 83 before signing on to face dynamic middleweight Uriah Hall at May 14’s packed UFC 198 from his home of Curitiba, Brazil.

Even with that fight fast approaching, however, Silva wants to take the time to declare that he is aiming for a bout with ‘The Notorious’ in the media, telling Brazilian news source Combate that he wants to test his skills against the Irish trash talker. In the interview, Silva also touched on rematching Bisping due to the controversial ending of their fight, and Nick Diaz, whom he beat in a somewhat uninspired decision at UFC 182 (translated from Portuguese):

“It’s a challenge that I would like to accomplish. I never asked anyone to face, never asked to fight with anyone, but it is a challenge that would like to have, to test my martial skill against McGregor.Like that of a rematch against Nick Diaz and against Michael Bisping. I think McGregor is a great fighter standing in the last fight he did not fight very well because just getting into the game Nate Diaz, and is a very difficult challenge, they (the Diaz brothers) have a lot of gas standing. Have to respect the loss to Diaz does not diminish his career, but they are opponents that would like to test my skills: McGregor, Nick Diaz, and again against Michael Bisping, because the fight ended in a way that does not was nice.”

It’s not surprising to hear Silva call out Bisping for a rematch, as he’s done just that ever since their fight in London, but taking on a much smaller McGregor just doesn’t seem like something the UFC would be willing to schedule for their golden boy.

After his first-ever UFC loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 196, the humbled featherweight champion has been rumored rematching the younger Stockton sniper at July’s UFC 200, and then of course he probably needs to defend the belt he hasn’t since winning it from Jose Aldo last year.

Regardless, a bout between Silva and McGregor would do huge numbers, and there’s no question it would also be extremely exciting to see Silva throw down with Bisping and Diaz again.

However, with a very dangerous opponent on the horizon in “Primetime,” should “The Spider” be focused on the task at hand rather than a potential dream match that most likely would never happen?

As he burst onto the scene of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 18 with an explosive striking skillset, Uriah “Prime Time” Hall was being dubbed as the next Anderson Silva.

Fast forward three years and Hall will actually step into the Octagon with the man he was once compared to, the man many consider to be amongst the greatest mixed martial artists of all-time.

The UFC has confirmed that Silva and Hall will indeed do battle at May 14’s UFC 198 from “The Spider’s” home of Curitiba, Brazil live on pay-per-view.

Despite his illustrious career, Silva has fallen on rough times since losing his title to Chris Weidman at UFC 162 in 2013. He would go on to gruesomely break his leg in the rematch at UFC 168, putting him on the sidelines for nearly a year.

The former champion then returned to action in January 2015, scoring a win over Nick Diaz. That win was later changed to a no-contest, however, after Silva failed a drug test, putting him out of action for yet another year.

After serving his suspension, “The Spider” took on long-time veteran Michael Bisping last month in London, losing a somewhat controversial split-decision, making the all-time great essentially winless since 2012.

Hall, on the other hand, picked up a super impressive stoppage win over former Strikeforce champion Gegard Mousasi last September, but then dropped a short notice decision to Robert Whittaker in November.

A battle between two of the division’s best strikers, Silva vs. Hall is a nice edition to an already compelling card.

Heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum will put his title on the line against Stipe Miocic in the main event, and top 185-pound contenders Ronald “Jacare” Souza and Vitor Belfort will clash in the evening’s co-main event.

Michael Bisping: If Nate Diaz Gets Title Shot, So Should I

Long-time middleweight contender Michael “The Count” Bisping may very well be the biggest star to have never received a UFC title shot. At age 37, however, he may closer than ever. Long-time middleweight contender Michael “The Count” Bisping may very well be the biggest star to have never received a UFC title shot.

At age 37, however, he may closer than ever.

Bisping has won three straight bouts, and is coming off of the biggest win of his career, a decision victory over former divisional kingpin Anderson “The Spider” Silva at last month’s UFC Fight Night 84 from London, England.

Recently speaking on his future with Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour, Bisping said that if Nate Diaz, who just beat featherweight champion Conor McGregor in a welterweight bout, is being considered for a title shot then he should definitely be awarded one:

“Of course I want that title fight. I think Luke Rockhold beats Chris Weidman again. No disrespect to Chris, he was a great champion and is a great fighter. I think Rockhold gets the job done, again, and I would like that rematch. I just beat Anderson Silva and I think that sells it in itself. I have won four out of five, I’ve fought nothing but the best fighters in the world, and people have had title shots for… Nate Diaz is looking at maybe getting a title shot against Robbie Lawler for beating a 145’r. Regardless of who that 145’r was, now he gets a welterweight title shot? Come on man, I just beat Anderson Silva.”

If Rockhold does indeed outdo Weidman again in their rematch at June 4’s UFC 199, the UFC could potentially set up a lucrative rematch between rivals Rockhold and Bisping.

And if not, “The Count” does possess quite a bit of star power to sell a title fight no matter his opponent.

Would you like to see Bisping make one last run at divisional supremacy before he’s inevitably forced to hang up his gloves for good?
