Former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen has laid high praise on the boxing match between YouTuber-turned-pugilist Jake Paul and MMA great Anderson Silva. Paul and Silva collided this past weekend in the headliner of a Showtime pay-per-view, which went down from the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. For “The Problem Child,” the bout marked…

Off the back of his unanimous decision win over former UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva over the course of last weekend, undefeated professional boxer, Jake Paul has revealed his disappointment with the estimated pay-per-view buy rate of the event, revealing pre-fight controversy surrounding Silva led to the showcase tanking.
However, ahead of the clash, speculation suggested that Silva’s ability to compete in the ‘Copper State’ could hang in the balance, after a pre-fight interview surfaced detailing how the former UFC kingpin had suffered “two knockouts” in sparring ahead of the bout.
Jake Paul reveals the buy rate for his boxing clash with Anderson Silva
Attempting to walk back those comments, Silva insisted that the language barrier in place resulted in a miscue. According to Paul, while the initial estimate suggests the bout received in the region of 200,000 to 300,000 pay-per-view buys, news of Silva’s potential knockouts in sparring resulted in the pre-buy rate tanking.
“I think it will probably go around 2-300,000, which is kind of upsetting,” Jake Paul said of the buy rate during an appearance on Impaulsive. “On the pay-per-view buys thing, the pre-buys were going crazy. Up, up, up. And on Wednesday, when the news came out about Anderson saying he got knocked out or whatever and the fight was in jeopardy, and all this press came out, the pre-buys tanked. All the way down.”
“The general public sees that and, ‘Oh, it’s not happening,’” Jake Paul explained. “‘Tommy pulled out, Hasim pulled out. Jake f*cking Paul can’t get an event together. This is done.’ It killed ticket sales. We were still selling tickets, that day, everything went to zero.”

It’s almost par for the course following the culmination of a fight involving polarizing boxing upstart, Jake Paul that calls and shouts of a rigged contest or fixed fight arise. And following the Ohio native’s unanimous decision win over ex-UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva last weekend, many social media users have insisted a phantom punch from Paul resulted in the eighth round knockdown.
Improving to 6-0 as a professional after a lengthy layoff from his December rematch knockout win over former undisputed UFC welterweight titleholder, Tyron Woodley, YouTube star, Jake Paul managed to turn in a unanimous decision win over Brazilian veteran, Silva.
Fans question if Jake Paul actually landed, resulting in a knockdown against Anderson Silva
Sharing a tight and close fight over the course of the eight round professional affair, Silva managed to take some rounds from Paul, however, was dropped with a right hand in the pocket in the final round, sealing the latter his sixth professional victory.
However, in footage released and shared on social media of Jake Paul’s knockdown against Silva, the reverse angle has led fans and commenters to speculate the legitimacy of the strike – speculating if the punch even landed.
In the ringside footage released by Showtime – the event’s broadcasters, however, footage clearly shows Paul land a right-hand counter as Silva engages, sending the Curitiba veteran to the canvas.
As mentioned earlier, during Paul’s knockout sequence in his December professional rematch with Woodley, speculation was posed if Paul had given Woodley some sort of notion or nod with his glove that he was about to land a massive overhand shot – almost as if the fight had been choreographed.

At one of the weekend’s most exciting combat sports events, all chaos broke loose after Nate Diaz and his entourage were involved in a wild brawl backstage.
The venue was set for Jake Paul and Anderson Silva to throw down, but fans would get an additional treat as footage would be released depicting a massive brawl that needed security and police to stop the violence.
The reasoning as to why the brawl occurred is still not public knowledge. Footage shows Nate Diaz and his crew backstage, as two posses of people faced off, arguing and screaming.
Footage of the Nate Diaz brawl backstage at the Paul vs. Silva fight
In the video, Nate Diaz can be seen getting handed what looks to be an open bottle of soda, and a second later you can see him launch it into the air, splattering whatever liquid contents it contained all over the other crew of people. This obviously set things in motion, and seconds later both crews can be seen on footage engaging in a wild brawl.
After the chaos backstage, the action moved out into the crowd, where Nate Diaz and his crew stood watching the Paul vs Silva fight. However, their presence caused instability in the crowd, and that combined with the brawl earlier was enough to get them removed from the arena entirely.
Later, Nate Diaz would take to Twitter, further sneak dissing Jake Paul and his crew. “The only real fighters here,” he proclaimed, taking a picture of his loyal entourage.
It is worth noting, the former UFC superstar is now a free agent. Any move he wishes to make in the combat sports stratosphere is his to be made. Like the scarface movie with the blimp in the sky saying: “The world is yours”, Nate Diaz literally has the MMA world in the palms of his hands. Until he does make a move, the MMA world will be eagerly waiting.
What do you want to see Nate Diaz do next? Should he fight Jake Paul or sign back with the UFC?

MMA legend and cherished icon Anderson Silva put up a valiant effort in his latest boxing match against Jake Paul. However, unfortunately, the effort alone wouldn’t be enough to seal the victory.
The fight was a competitive contest, with things looking very even up until the eighth round, where Paul would score his one and only knockdown of the fight. The jab for Jake Paul was the real difference-maker, as he was very active with it. His activity in general outshined the MMA legend, in fact. Paul greatly outworked Silva volume-wise, throwing a total of 215 jabs alone compared to a meager 75 attempted by the legend.
Accuracy was a different story, though. In the first round, Paul landed his jab with 5.6% accuracy, going 2 for 36. In that same round, Silva landed at a clip of 33.3%. However, he only threw a total of three jabs, landing just one. So, it was a story of accuracy and activity. That is, until the knockdown in the eighth round.
At the end of the night, the fight would ultimately conclude in a decision, with boxing’s most hated Jake Paul waltzing away with a victory. Not happy with his performance, the legend himself Anderson Silva would speak on things after the fight.
Anderson Silva addresses the Jake Paul loss
“Jake is better than me today…” The legend began. “I tried to put my game inside, and (that was) my whole strategy. I didn’t find my distance, I failed in my strategy and Jake is better than me today.”
The next question was in Portuguese, but it was obviously something like “Will you be done fighting now?” because Anderson Silva shook his head and responded. “I can’t stop (fighting)… I can’t stop. You asked me about stopping or not, I can’t stop.”
One reporter mentioned that Silva was ahead in power punches, and wondered if the legend thought he was ahead on the scorecards leading into the last round. “You know, I fail in the strategy,” Silva sighed. “In the last round, Jake took a good punch… My base is not correct, that’s what my coach says…”
Silva would then go on to elaborate, saying that his fighting stance itself put him off balance, causing him to be knocked down by Jake Paul in the eighth round. He also would talk about a fighters union, mentioning that he believes he and Jake Paul could do something big to benefit the fighters.
Overall, Silva would indicate that he wasn’t ready to retire and that he was disappointed that he “failed his mission”. He also didn’t entirely write off a rematch with Paul, saying: “I don’t know, let’s go see what happens. Maybe (we’ll run it back), I don’t know.”
