Fedor Emelianenko vs. Andrei Arlovski 2

Nearly fifteen years after their first meeting, Fedor Emelianenko and Andrei Arlovski are likely to meet again in a boxing match rumored for late 2024.

Fedor Emelianenko vs. Andrei Arlovski 2

The heavyweight great Fedor Emelianenko and former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski first met in 2009 at an Affliction event, sponsored by M-1 and Donald Trump. The two traded hands, with the quick Arlovski getting the better of the Russian. But, the UFC champion jumped for a flying knee attack and Emelianenko countered with a flush overhand which knocked Arlovski late in round 1.

Now, the two aged fighters are looking to meet once again but this time under boxing rules. It seems a match may be booked in RCC Fights.

Fedor

“The Last Emperor” Emelianenko is the greatest heavyweight fighter in MMA history having beaten a cavalcade of impressive names including UFC champions Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Frank Mir, Tim Sylvia, Arlovski, Mark Coleman, Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira, and kickboxing greats Mirko Cro Cop and Semmy Schilt.

The Russian athlete has a background in Combat Sambo and was a staple of both PRIDE FC, Strikeforce, and Bellator MMA. His last win was a first-round knockout against the US-born Timothy Johnson in 2021.

Former UFC heavyweight champion “The Pitbull” Andrei Arlovski, of Belarus, was a standout athlete in the early 2000s due to his incredibly quick hands. He had an MMA stretching from 1999 to 2024. He finished his UFC career on a four-fight losing streak.

Now, it seems, Emelianenko and Arlovski are looking to lace up the gloves once again but this time under Queensbury rules.

Andrei Arlovski fights out contract with UFC 303 loss plans to compete in different promotion

Former undisputed heavyweight champion, Andrei Arlovski has officially fought out his promotional contract in last night’s UFC 303 fight against Martin Buday, and according to reports, plans to leave the Dana White-promotion and compete elsewhere.

Arlovski, a perennial heavyweight contender inside the Octagon and a former undisputed heavyweight gold holder, featured last night at UFC 303, dropping a split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) loss to Slovakian heavyweight, Buday over the course of three rounds.

“Last night was the final fight on Andrei Arlovski’s UFC contract,” Helwani posted on his official X account. “He will not be re-signing with the promotion, I’m told, but he is still planning on fighting elsewhere.”

Arlovski, 45, made his sixtieth professional walk overnight against Buday, ending his tenure in the promotion in the midst of a four-fight losing skid.

However, making his debut in the organization back in 2000 at UFC 28 in a career which spanned multiple tenures in the promotion, Arlovski managed to land the interimheavyweight crown in a achilles lock submission win over Tim Sylvia at UFC 51, before landing consecutive defenses against Justin Eilers, and then Paul Buentello.

Over the course of his Octagon tenure, Arlovski has also landed other notable triumphs over the likes of Vladimir Matyushenko, Fabricio Werdum, Ben Rothwell, Roy Nelson, Brendan Schaub, Antonio Silva, Travis Browne, Frank Mir, and Stefan Struve to name a few.

Departing the promotion, Arlovski follows the retirement of perennial strawweight contender, Michelle Waterson, who ended her combat sports career on the preliminary card of UFC 303 in a decision loss against grappling talent, Gillian Robertson.

UFC heavyweight legend Andrei Arlovski suffered a devastating second-round knockout loss at the hands of Don’Tale Mayes at UFC Vegas 74 on Saturday night.

Arlovski, a former heavyweight world champion, stepped inside the Octagon for his 40th career fight under the UFC banner. Unfortunately, things did not go well for ‘The Pitbull’ despite keeping things fairly competitive in the early going. Arlovski had experienced a bit of a career renaissance as of late, winning six of his last eight appearances before stepping into The APEX for a heavyweight clash against Mayes.

The first round saw Mayes come out aggressive and landed early, but as the fight grew longer, Arlovski’s veteran savvy began to take over leaving fans split as to who won the opening round. Things took a turn in the second when Mayes landed a counter-right that dropped ‘The Pitbull’ immediately. Mayes swarmed in and dropped some ground-and-pound forcing referee Mark Smith to step in and call for the stoppage.

Official Result: Don’Tale Mayes def. Andrei Arlovski via TKO (strikes) at 3:17 of Round 2.

UFC heavyweight Jake Collier has rejected claims that he deliberately avoided interacting with Andrei Arlovski following their collision this past weekend.

In the UFC Vegas 53 co-main event, Collier looked to break his habit of trading wins and losses, which he’s done since a five-fight win streak was snapped in 2014. In his way of doing so was former champion Arlovski, who was appearing in his 56th professional fight and 38th in the Octagon.

Across three rounds, both men threw hard and connected with the kind of shots that could have put many other heavyweights away. Despite Arlovski’s age and Collier’s size, neither man let up, with both men putting on an impressive display of conditioning.

After going the full 15-minute distance, the bout went to the judges’ scorecards, where the 43-year-old fell on the right side of a split decision, a result that’s been heavily debated since.

After the result was announced, a visibly disappointed Collier was quick to leave the cage, with a chasing Arlovski not far behind. Ultimately, the Belarusian-American had to return for his interview, meaning the pair didn’t exchange post-fight pleasantries.

While some accused “The Prototype” of disrespecting a legend of the sport, Collier has assured that all was not as it seemed.

Collier: I’d Never Disrespect Arlovski

Collier recently took to social media in a bid to clarify the situation. In a tweet, the 33-year-old claimed that he’d simply been told to leave the cage by Octagon officials, and by the time he decided to turn back to address Arlovski, the veteran was already in conversation with Michael Bisping.

“Clarify, it looked like I walked away from @AndreiArlovski at then end of the like a poor sport, I was told to leave the cage, then to go back and he was in an interview. I’d never disrespect an opponent like that, let alone a legend who I have the utmost respect for #UFCVegas53”

Given how quick many were to bring out the ‘robbery’ claims following the fight, Collier would have perhaps been forgiven had his emotion and disappointment forced his quick exit.

On MMA Decisions, all 14 scoring media members had the fight in favor of Collier, with six even seeing it 30-27. Of the near-300 fan scorecards submitted, 82.6% believe “The Prototype” did enough to deserve victory.

Nevertheless, while Arlovski basks in his remarkable four-fight win streak and continues to break records inside the Octagon, Collier will go back to the drawing board as he attempts to rebound from defeat, something that’s been all too familiar for him over the past eight years.
