Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder fought to a controversial draw last night and immediately after the boxers took to the mic to call out ‘chicken’ Anthony Joshua.

It may have been a controversial decision, but by all accounts, it was one of the most entertaining heavyweight fights in recent memory. Fury and Wilder went toe-to-toe for the full 12 rounds last night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. They may have saved the division in the process.

After the fight, Fury had some words for ‘another certain heavyweight’.

“There’s another certain heavyweight out there,” Fury said before starting to cluck like a chicken. “Chicken! Chicken! Joshua, where are you? Where are you, AJ?”

The American Wilder chimed in right after with his agreement:

“I 100% agree with that,” Wilder said. “We’re the two best in the world, and we proved it tonight, you know. You put two warriors in the ring, that want to put on a show for the fans, you get a great fight.”

Fury didn’t stop there, however. During the post-fight press conference, the Brit explained his earlier comments. He also said Joshua wouldn’t stand a chance against Wilder.

Fury Says Wilder Beats Joshua

”It’s no secret that Anthony Joshua did not want this fight,” Fury said. “He didn’t want it for a reason: because Deontay Wilder is the most fiercest puncher in boxing history, in heavyweight division history. And I saw that tonight and I felt it. No wonder AJ didn’t want no part of that right hand. He can’t move like me, he would have been nailed.”

”Wilder came over to the UK and showed up. Called out Joshua, he got offered a lot of money. A lot of money. Money that could change countries, probably. Make broke countries rich, he turned it down. And I come in here, I said to Deontay, I’m sorry for what happened here, but you offer me the fight, I will not turn it down, I promise you. I am the fighting man and I’ll step up and represent my country, and tonight I did that.”

The American echoed Fury’s sentiment when he got his turn to speak.

Wilder On Joshua

”I’d love to fight Joshua, I’ve been trying to fight him,” Wilder said when it was his turn on the podium. “Everyone knows that it’s no secret. But those guys got other plans, and we’ll see what happens. But I’ll be satisfied either or, to be honest. Me and Fury put on a hell of a performance tonight. I’d love to go back into a rematch or I’d love to fight Joshua, so I think I’m in a win-win situation. I know what the fans want, and I’m with the fans too, you know?”

Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel reminded the press that he had offered Anthony Joshua $50 million to fight Wilder.

”That was already done, and Joshua declined it,” Finkel said. “That was an offer to make a fight, the offers they made Deontay were to not make a fight. So Deontay will fight anyone, and he knows, and I know: the next time he fights Fury, he’ll be better. I don’t know if Fury can be better.”

Jon Jones Makes Interesting Claims About Potential Boxing Career

Jon Jones breaks down what would need to happen in order for him to hang with the best boxers in the world.

Jon Jones makes interesting claims about a potential boxing career and a transition from MMA to boxing. The former UFC light heavyweight champion has had a great MMA career if you look past his failed drug tests and outside of the cage problems. Some could even say that he could be the GOAT.

Jones will have the chance to prove people wrong once he fights Alexander Gustafsson for a second time with the vacant light heavyweight title being on the line. This will serve as the headliner of the UFC 232 pay-per-view event.

During a recent interview, Jones made it known that he thinks he could hang with the best boxers in the world.

“When I started doing MMA, I found myself in the UFC about nine months after my first practice so I’m aware that I have a mind for fighting,” Jones said in an interview with JW Raw via MMAMania. “I have a lot of faith and confidence in myself,” he added.

It would all come down to him dedicating himself to pure standup training. This would include hiring the right coaches to put around himself to train.

“I believe that if I were to hire the right people to be around me, that’s maybe four boxing coaches. That’s what the guys at the highest levels [have]. Hire guys to come in here and we spend two years focusing on boxing and only boxing, I believe I’d be able to compete with the best in the world.”

Jones made it known that he’s not going to do what Conor McGregor did by fighting Floyd Mayweather or in his case Anthony Joshua. The reason for that is due to him not thinking it would end well for him.

“I would imagine he would have the upper hand big time,” Jones admitted. “He’s spent so much time throwing hands and that’s his passion.”

Newly reinstated UFC fighter Jon Jones is considering ‘big fights’ inside the boxing ring.

Who really thought Conor McGregor was going to box Floyd Mayweather last year? No one thought the Irishman had a chance in hell at luring Floyd out of retirement. And not many gave McGregor a chance at beating him.

Grant it, Conor didn’t shock the world on that night, but he did do something previously thought off limits. He successfully co-promoted a fight between MMA’s biggest star (himself) and the best boxer in the modern era (Mayweather).

So when “Bones” Jones says he wants to fight the best the Sweet Science has to offer, its really not that far fetched.

“Right now my mindset is more about making money, even those big fights,” Jones told RT Sports. “You know, I watched Conor McGregor fight Floyd Mayweather, and it was high risk, high reward. There’s a saying, ‘scared money don’t make money’. I gotta be brave when I get back in the game and start challenging guys that I could possibly lose to because that’s what people want to see.”

Whatever combat sport Jones decides to pursue it would seem he has his heart set on fighting at heavyweight. Both Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder are big men. Jones has also been rumored in a potential Brock Lesnar superfight.

“They want to see Jones versus Velasquez, they want to see Jones versus Ngannou, that’s what people want to see, and that’s where my mindset is,” Jones said. “Jones versus Anthony Joshua, or Deontay Wilder, you know, that’s what people want to see.”

While the boxing experiment worked out well for McGregor, its unlikely Jones will follow suit. With a number of intriguing heavyweight match-ups for “Bones” in the UFC, there’s just not a need for Jones to take up an entirely new sport at 31 years old.

Zuffa Boxing is always a possibility.

If Jones can pass his drug tests.

The post WATCH: Anthony Joshua Destroys Alexander Povetkin To Remain Undefeated appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Anthony Joshua is still the undisputed heavyweight king of the boxing world.

The Englishman was able to retain his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO (Super), and IBO heavyweight titles against Alexander Povetkin. Joshua knocked out Povetkin in the 7th round of their bout from the Wembley Stadium in London, England.

The victory marked the 22nd consecutive win of Joshua’s career. He has won all but one of those fights via knockout. Check out Joshua’s finish of Povetkin here:

Joshua is the “money fight” in the heavyweight division of boxing. Fellow top-ranked heavyweight stars such as Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury have been trying to land a fight with the Englishman for quite some time. Unfortunately, a deal has never been able to come to fruition.

Wilder and Fury will instead fight one another in December. The winner is expected to be Joshua’s next opponent, likely in April from Wembley Stadium. There’s an April 13th date available from the venue that Joshua would like to make his return at for a big fight.

Whether it’s against Wilder or Fury, Joshua and Wembley Stadium will certainly do big business with each other when the time comes.
