Former UFC featherweight Jason Knight is set to make his return to Bare-Knuckle FC action.
During last night’s (Sat. June 22, 2019) BKFC 6 event, it was announced that Knight will be facing fellow former UFC star Leonard Garcia at the BKFC 7 event. The show will take place from Biloxi, Mississippi on August 10. BKFC president David Feldman announced the matchup himself.
Garcia is a former UFC, WEC, and Legacy FC veteran who hasn’t competed in mixed martial arts (MMA) competition since 2014. He also competed in professional boxing back in 2005, suffering a third round defeat to Miguel Ortiz. Garcia made his bare-knuckle debut at BKFC 4 in February, finishing Julian Lane in the second round.
He’ll take on Knight, who was one-half of, arguably, the best BKFC fight in history against Artem Lobov in April. Knight ended his UFC run on a four-fight win streak before signing with the bare-knuckle promotion. He went all five rounds with Lobov, who took home the win on the scorecards via unanimous decision.
Now, he’ll be taking on Garcia in his second-ever bare-knuckle fight in his home state of Mississippi. No other fights have been announced for the BKFC 7 card as of this writing, but we’ll keep you updated.

Tonight (Sat. June 22, 2019) ex-UFC featherweight Artem Lobov takes on Paulie Malignaggi in bare-knuckle boxing action.
Hours out from the contest, Lobov’s good friend and training partner, UFC mega-star Conor McGregor, took to Instagram to wish “The Russian Hammer” good luck. Here’s what “The Notorious” had to say:
“Good luck to the “Russian Hammer” Artem Lobov tonight! Stay tight. Let rip”
The bad-blood between Lobov and Malignaggi started due to the Russian’s affiliation with McGregor. Back in 2017, Malignaggi was part of McGregor’s camp for Floyd Mayweather, where “Magic Man” served as a sparring partner. McGregor leaked images and footage from their sparring sessions, including a clip that looked like McGregor knocking Malignaggi down.
However, Malignaggi claims the knockdown was a trip/shove. The former boxing world champion has held a grudge ever since. Now, Malignaggi has followed Lobov into the world of bare-knuckle boxing. The build-up to the fight has been extremely personal. Things will certainly be interesting once the pair collide inside the ring.
It’s believed that Malignaggi is attempting to lure McGregor into a boxing bout of their own by downing his good friend and training partner. The boxing ruleset certainly favors Malignaggi, but the bout being contested bare-knuckle evens the odds a bit.

In the main event, former boxing world champion Paulie Malignaggi meets ex-UFC featherweight Artem Lobov. The pair have built up a very personal feud with one another over the past several weeks. Now, it will all come to a head tomorrow night from the Florida State Fairgrounds Expo Hall in Tampa, Florida.
Shortly after the weigh-ins concluded, Lobov celebrated on the stage holding his Russian and Irish flags. Members of Malignaggi’s team began teasing Lobov down on the floor. Lobov walked up to them and yelled some harsh words before throwing a kick their way. Luckily, things were broken up before they could get out of hand.

Artem Lobov won’t be shaking Paulie Malignaggi’s hand after their bare-knuckle boxing fight tomorrow night (Sat. June 22, 2019). Artem Lobov won’t be shaking Paulie Malignaggi’s hand after their bare-knuckle boxing fight tomorrow night (Sat. June 22, 2019).
Speaking to TMZ Sports, Lobov noted he won’t be shaking Malignaggi’s hand when it’s all said and done tomorrow night, but he’ll shake his brain:
“I won’t be shaking his hand, but I might shake his brain,” Lobov said.
Lobov was then asked about if he has spoken to his good friend and training partner Conor McGregor before the fight. The beef between Lobov and Malignaggi began due to Malignaggi’s past issues with the McGregor camp. Malignaggi was a former sparring partner for McGregor ahead of his 2017 boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.
However, after McGregor released a clip of what looked like him knocking Malignaggi down, which Malignaggi claims was a trip, “The Magic Man” left holding a bitter grudge:
“Yeah, absolutely we spoke about the fight,” Lobov said. “Before every fight we always exchange strategies, we always help the other guy out into planning the strategy and how we’re going to approach this fight. But in terms of this fight, we have everything broken down at the time of the sparring happened.
“We already knew what we’re dealing with. There’s nothing to be amazed by, there’s nothing special about him. This guy has no power. Fragile little hands, plucked out eyebrows, he’s hiding his f*cking bald patch.”
Given McGregor has sparred with Malignaggi already, Lobov was asked if McGregor had any advice for him before he takes the former boxing world champion on in bare-knuckle competition:
“Yeah, absolutely, like I said, we broke down the whole sparring,” Lobov said. “So I know his weakness and I know his strengths. I was getting ready for the best version of Paulie even though I knew only a fat mass was going to show up.”
BKFC 6 goes down from the Florida State Fairgrounds Expo Hall in Tampa, Florida. It kicks off at 9 p.m. ET on pay-per-view (PPV). You can view the event on FITE TV for $39.99.

If Conor McGregor wants to attend this weekend’s bare-knuckle boxing fight between Paulie Malignaggi and Artem Lobov, Bare-Knuckle FC president David Feldman welcomes the Irishman.
Speaking to MMA Fighting, Feldman said he doesn’t know for sure if the UFC star will be appearing, but based off what he has heard so far, he’d bet that “The Notorious” will be there:
“They won’t give confirmation yet but if I’m a betting man, I’m betting he’s coming,” Feldman said. “They’re not going to give confirmation and if they are, they’re not going to tell us so we put it out there ‘hey Conor McGregor’s coming to the fight’ and then he’s mobbed.
“So it’s not going to happen like that but from the conversations I’m having, if I was going to bet on it, he’ll be there but who knows.”
The bad blood between Malignaggi and the McGregor camp is very real. Malignaggi, a former boxing world champion, joined McGregor’s training camp as a sparring partner ahead of his boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather in 2017. However, McGregor leaked footage and images of his sparring session with Malignaggi that favored the Irishman.
Perhaps the tipping point was the footage that showed what looked like McGregor knocking Malignaggi down. Malignaggi claims he fell as a result of a trip. The former world champion has held a grudge over the incident ever since. He has found his way into a bare-knuckle boxing fight against McGregor’s good friend and training partner, Lobov.
Malignaggi has vowed to hospitalize “The Russian Hammer” and put him in a coma. “The Magic Man” is likely angling for a future showdown with “The Notorious One” himself down the line. Feldman understands the bad blood between these two sides runs very deep, which is why security will be beefed up come this weekend for the press conference and weigh-ins:
“We’re going to have ample security at the press conference and the weigh-ins,” Feldman said. “They’re staying at different hotels so that’s not going to be an issue but definitely as the press conference and weigh-in where we know they will see each other.
“I don’t think if they see each other, they’re going to just jump in but when they get in each other’s face and they’re that close and then they start talking, that’s when the problems arise. So we’re definitely going to have ample security, more than ample security and I don’t see anything arising. I don’t think either of them want to blow the opportunity for this event and they don’t want to blow their pay either.”
