BJ Penn has never been shy in sharing his opinion. Never before has that statement been more relevant than on Monday, when “The Prodigy” took aim at both Georges “Rush” St-Pierre and “The Notorious” Conor McGregor.
Penn took to social media on Monday, where he posted two photos — one that takes a jab at GSP regarding steroids and another that mocks McGregor for his inability to win in his welterweight debut at UFC 196.

Having the gift of the gab is clearly an increasingly more important asset to a fighter looking to make it big in the UFC.
There are several examples of fighters who’ve managed to use their skills on the mic to gain attention, land higher-profile fights, make more money, and speed up their path to title shots and superstardom.
However, the trouble with talking all that trash is that you then have to back it all up in the Octagon, and if you don’t, then you’ll never be allowed to forget it.
In this article, we’ll look at 10 classic examples of fighters who talked down to their opponents, raised themselves up on a pedestal, and then came crashing face-first back down to earth.

Two featherweights in the top 15 Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 145-pound rankings did battle inside the Octagon at UFC Fight Night 83. Long Island MMA fighter Dennis Bermudez (15-5) went toe-to-toe with T-Blood’s Tatsuya Kawajiri (35-9-2).
Bermudez landed a stiff leg kick, but Kawajiri answered with a spinning back fist. A hook found the mark for “The Menace” and he got a hold of “Crusher’s” back. Kawajiri looked to work his way into a dominant position as Bermudez held onto his arm. “Crusher” got Bermudez in a cradle and landed a knee to the body. “The Menace” got back up, but his opponent stuck to him to dumped him back down. The round ended with “Crusher” pressing Bermudez against the fence.
“The Menace” closed the distance and held onto a choke very briefly. Bermudez connected with a right hand in a dominant position. The two battle for control against the fence before “Crusher” broke free. Kawajiri’s failed takedown attempt led to a series of punches landed for “The Menace.” He connected with elbows as his opponent continued to attempt a takedown. The round ended with Bermudez having Kawajiri’s back.
Bermudez pressured Kawajiri immediately and took him down. Like in round two, Kawajiri continued to try taking his opponent down and delivering little offense. “The Menace” landed an uppercut, but slipped from a high kick attempt. Kawajiri went for a choke, but Bermudez easily slipped out. A tired Kawjiri threw out a spinning attack. A leg kick was followed up by a right hook from Bermudez. The final horn sounded as “The Menace” landed some punches in top control.
Bermudez was awarded a unanimous decision win. After the fight, “The Menace” said he would like a rematch with Ricardo Lamas and a bout with BJ Penn. Bermudez lost to Lamas back in Nov. 2014 via guillotine choke in the first round.
Final Result: Dennis Bermudez def. Tatsuya Kawajiri via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Former UFC lightweight and welterweight world champion BJ “The Prodigy” Penn was gearing up to make his return to competitive mixed martial arts (MMA), likely at April 23’s UFC 197.
Penn’s return has now been postponed, however, after the Hawaiian legend recently came under some serious allegations.
A former writer of BJPenn.com and an apparent friend of the fighter has recently accused “The Prodigy” of sexual assault. The accuser has reportedly filed a police report, and claims that he has the evidence to prove his statements.
Penn obviously isn’t too pleased with the recent events, and his camp recently released a statement on the scenario, indicating that someone is trying to “extort” him (Via TMZ):
“In the almost 15 years that Penn has been a champion fighter there has not ever been any incident or allegation in regards to his conduct with women. He is a family man and father of two young daughters with a long term girlfriend. It is unfortunate that someone that BJ considered family is trying to extort him.”
The UFC also released a statement, saying that they too are launching an investigation on the matter.
Of course these are all just allegations as of now, and Penn could return to action in the near future, but he also could have a huge problem on his hands if any of this proves to be true.
Longtime fighter, multiple world champion, and UFC Hall of Famer BJ Penn is in some hot water. Former writer at BJ Penn.com Peter Alex Carrasco alleged that Penn sexual assaulted his girlfriend recently. Carrasco blasted Penn on Twitter and then mentioned that there was an ongoing investigation into the alleged sexual assault. Penn is coming out of
Penn is coming out of retirement to fight at featherweight and was planning to fight at UFC 196. However, his fight had been pushed back to UFC 197 without an opponent for the event. With these new allegations, his fighting future is certainly in question and may be put on hold.
The UFC issued a statement on the allegations against Penn on Thursday, which you can read here:
“UFC is aware of the recent allegations made against BJ Penn. The organization requires all athletes who compete in the UFC to act in an ethical and responsible manner, as detailed in the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy. UFC will not tolerate violations of the policy. Every athlete is deserving of proper review and this situation, as with any serious allegation, will be investigated by an independent party and thoroughly reviewed by the UFC. The UFC organization will also cooperate with any law enforcement investigation. In light of the serious allegations, UFC has postponed plans to book Penn for an upcoming bout until more details are determined.
UFC holds athletes who compete in the organization to the highest standard and will continue to take appropriate action, if and when warranted. It is important to note that Penn is considered innocent until proven guilty and UFC is not prejudging this matter.”
Penn has yet to make a formal statement on the allegations.
Following news of criminal allegations being brought up against BJ Penn, the UFC has decided to delay announcing his return to the Octagon.
The former UFC champion retired in 2014, but has been included in a report of assault by a 29-year-old through the Delaware (Ohio) County Sheriff’s Office. The matter, which took place in 2015 in Hawaii, has been referred to the police there.

The 37-year-old Penn (16-10-2) lost to Frankie Edgar two years ago and has not won a fight since 2010 when he knocked out Matt Hughes. He is a former lightweight and welterweight titleholder, and announced his plans to return by moving his training to New Mexico and Jackson-Wink MMA earlier this year.
A former editor of BJPenn.com, Pedro Alex Carrasco, presented the allegations to the public earlier this week with a series of posts on Twitter. He confirmed that the incident involved his girlfriend and added that he has proof to back his claims.
