Jorge Masvidal backed to rematch Nate Diaz in boxing match amid claims he's unretired from the UFC

Former two-time undisputed welterweight title challenger, Jorge Masvidal has been backed to take on fellow UFC veteran, Nate Diaz in a professional boxing rematch following last night’s revelation that he was now “unretired” from combat sports, according to professional boxer, Jake Paul – who also staked his claim for a shot at the Floridian.

Masvidal, a former two-time welterweight champion and inaugural symbolic BMF championship winner, called time on his combat sports career just 8 months ago, having suffered his fourth consecutive loss in the form of a one-sided decision shutout to former title chaser, Gilbert Burns in April of this year.

The defeat followed a grudge match loss to former American Top Team training partner and close-friend, Colby Covington, as well as a championship series with Kamaru Usman, which Jorge Masvidal first dropped a decision, and then subsequent rematch knockout loss.

And amid links to a potential comeback against the likes of former foe, Ben Askren, and a BKFC fight with fellow former UFC welterweight contender, Mike Perry, overnight, Masvidal claimed he was “unretired” on his official social media, leading fans to play matchmaker and speculate on his fighting future.

However, as far as the above-mentioned Ohio native, Paul is concerned, Masvidal is set to fight the above-mentioned Stockton veteran, Diaz in a professional boxing rematch – before urging him to score a fight against him, only if UFC CEO, Dana White allows it.

“Yeah, yeah,” Jake Paul replied. “Going to box Nate Diaz, whatever. Come see me when Dana gives you permission.” (H/T TalkSPORT)

Headlining UFC 244 against Diaz back in November 2019 at Madison Square Garden, the then-surging Masvidal landed the inaugural BMF title, landing an eventual third round doctor’s stoppage TKO win over The Ultimate Fighter winner.

Former undisputed UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou has been backed to rematch unbeaten WBC heavyweight boxing titleholder, Tyson Fury in the future – according to a Top Rank exec, who claims the Cameroonian’s performance against the latter back in October “earned” him a re-run with the Morecambe native.

Ngannou, a former undisputed heavyweight champion under the UFC banner, put pen to paper on a multi-fight deal with the PFL (Professional Fighters League) at the beginning of the year, following his departure from the Dana White-led organization.

Francis Ngannou backed to fight Tyson Fury again

Yet to make good on a debut with the North American-based mixed martial arts promotion, Ngannou made a professional boxing debut back in October in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, headlining a pay-per-view card in the Middle East – in an eventual split decision loss to Fury, with many pundits and critics calling the result dubious and controversial.

And maintaining he would fight Fury again in the future in a potential boxing rematch, Batié native, Ngannou has been backed to do just that – according to Top Rank boss, Todd DuBoef – through his October display in Saudi Arabia.

“That’s an earned ability to get the rematch,” Todd DuBoef told Sky Sports. “He (Francis Ngannou) earned that. I think Tyson (Fury) is regretful. He blamed himself. He thought he had an off night. He said, ‘I took it lightly, it was all one me.’ Didn’t point fingers, which was good.”

“Ngannou outperformed anybody’s expectation and as a result of that, you have all the components to say, hey, I want to see this again and that creates and warrants a rematch,” DuBoef continued.

Booking his own return to the squared circle before the end of this year, Fury will take on Ukrainian favorite and unbeaten world champion, Oleksandr Usyk in the Middle East in a long-anticipated heavyweight title unification bout in February – with the event billed as ‘Ring of Fire’.

Deontay Wilder claims Anthony Joshua would rather retire than fight him did you see how happy he was

Off the back of his upset decision loss to former champion, Joseph Parker over the course of the weekend in Saudi Arabia, former WBC heavyweight king, Deontay Wilder has shockingly claimed that long-time rumored foe, Anthony Joshua was set to retire – rather than fight him, if he beat Parker.

Wilder, a former undisputed WBC heavyweight titleholder, co-headlined a ‘Day of Reckoning’ billed card in Riyadh over the course of the weekend, suffering a one-sided unanimous judging loss to Parker, failing to mount any real significant offense over the course of their 12 round distance.

And in the night’s headliner, Watford-born puncher managed to extend his winning run to three straight fights, landing a corner’s stoppage TKO win over Swedish contender, Otto Wallin.

However, in the days ahead of the event in the Middle East, reports emerged confirming how Wilder and Joshua were set to agree terms on a two-fight deal – if both of them won their respective fights on Friday night.

Deontay Wilder claims Anthony Joshua was set to retire

And in the immediate aftermath of his loss to Parker, with the kibosh now placed on a long-rumored bout between the two, Wilder claims he heard Joshua was set to retire rather than fight him if he won.

“They really don’t want that fight,” Deontay Wilder told 78SPORTSTV.” When I lost did you see how happy he (Anthony Joshua) was coming out? ‘Now I can escape.’ I broke out laughing. I made him able to perform like that. He was like, ‘I ain’t gotta fight Wilder.’”

“The rumor was he was talking about retiring if I won,” Deontay Wilder explained. “March 9., the fight still can go on. But this is a perfect way for them to get out.”

Former UFC champion Connor McGregor calls out Manny Pacquiao while sat next to Cristiano Ronaldo, who didn’t seem pleased with the seating arrangement.

Last night Saudi Arabia hosted the ‘Day of Recking’ all-heavyweight boxing event, featuring the likes of Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder, Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker. As you would expect from a Saudi promoted event, the place was filled with sports celebrities including Ronaldo, who was seated where he could be seen front and centre for the broadcast.

McGregor would then rock up, sitting right beside Cristiano Ronaldo who was not ecstatic to be reunited with Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor stirs up Manny Pacquiao fight talk

Talking to heavyweight contender, Derek Chisora for IFL TV, an animated McGregor brought up the idea of him Vs. Pacqauio in Saudi Arabia

“How about me vs. Manny here in Saudi,” Conor McGregor said. “How does that sound? Now, wouldn’t you think Manny should have to come up to my weight? Considering it’s his sport. Would you think that’s what a man would do versus what a mouse would do?

“Money talks? Well, Manny already owes me eight million via court of law cause he was signed to my management company and then didn’t honor his deal” (H/T MMA Mania)

McGregor was also picked up saying ‘tell Manny to grow a set of balls’ and asking ‘is he a man or a mouse’.

There has been talks of McGregor for years now, the Irishman has expressed his interest in the fight on several occasions, but Pacquaio has never seemed overly-interested in the idea, it least publicly that is.

Pacquaio is also officially ‘retired’ and 45 years old, however, he has flirted with the idea of making a return ever since his last fight, so who knows.

Anthony Joshua lands TKO win over Otto Wallin on stool after vicious performance highlights

Former two-time world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua is in the midst of a three-time winning run for the first time since his second title reign back in 2018, turning in an eventual corner stoppage TKO win following a vicious onslaught at the end of the fifth round.

Joshua, a former two-time heavyweight champion, entered tonight’s ‘Day of Reckoning’ card in Saudi Arabia in the midst of a two-fight winning run, landing a knockout win over Robert Helenius, which came off the back of a decision win over Jermaine Franklin in a home soil return earlier this year.

Expected to fight former WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder with a victory tonight in the co-main event slot, Watford puncher, Anthony Joshua saw those plans hit the skids after the Tuscaloosa native dropped a one-sided unanimous decision loss to common-foe, Joseph Parker in Riyadh.

However, holding up his side of a slated two-fight deal, Joshua turned up the heat early and often against Wallin throughout the extent of their five round clash, particularly in the last of those frames — forcing a corner stoppage after bloodying the Swedish-born, Wallin.

Below, catch the highlights from Anthony Joshua’s win over Otto Wallin in the Middle East
