Francis Ngannou confirms plans for mixed rules fight with Deontay Wilder the conversation is true

Off the back of a professional boxing debut back in October, former undisputed UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou claims “conversations” regarding a potential mixed-rules fight with former WBC heavyweight boxing world champion, Deontay Wilder are most definitely true, amid links to a bout of some form with the Tuscaloosa striker.

Ngannou, a former undisputed heavyweight champion under the banner of the UFC, made a professional boxing debut back in October in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, suffering a contentious and controversial split decision loss to incumbent WBC heavyweight kingpin and common-foe, Tyson Fury.

As for Wilder, the former undisputed WBC titleholder has been sidelined since stopping Finnish heavyweight, Robert Helenius with a thunderous opening round knockout back in October of last year in a headlining clash in Brooklyn.

Slated to return to the squared circle later this month, the Alabama native co-headlines another high-profile card in Saudi Arabia, taking on former world championship challenger, Joseph Parker beneath a headliner featuring both Anthony Joshua, and Otto Wallin.

And linked with a slew of potential opponents in a potential sophomore outing in professional boxing, Cameroonian knockout ace, Ngannou appeared to veto a fight with the veteran, Derek Chisora, however, claimed a bout of some sort with Wilder could be on the horizon.

“I prefer to fight only the top fighters,” Francis Ngannou told The Last Stand podcast. “Why did I fight Tyson Fury? Because he is the top of the game, I wanted to get in there at the top and I want the best. I want the big fights, the big show. I want everything big. At the end of the day, it is a sport, we do what we have to do.”

“The conversation of a mixed rules fight with Deontay Wilder is true, because even before this fight [against Tyson Fury], we have been having discussions,” Francis Ngannou continued.

Nate Diaz makes offer to fight Deontay Wilder in MMA let's get these contracts written up asap

In one of the more bizarre news stories of this week, former UFC lightweight championship challenger, Nate Diaz has welcomed the chance to fight former WBC heavyweight boxing world champion, Deontay Wilder, as the latter continues to hype up a long-rumored transition to professional mixed martial arts competition.

Diaz, a former lightweight title challenger and welterweight contender under the banner of the UFC, made his own crossover to professional boxing back in August in Texas, headlining a pay-per-view card against Jake Paul in a one-sided unanimous decision loss.

Bowing out of the UFC officially a year ago, Stockton fan-favorite, Diaz closed out his fighting tenure with the Dana White-led organization with a stunning fourth round guillotine choke submission win over former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson in an impromptu welterweight headliner.

And off the back of former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou’s stellar performance en route to a controversial split decision loss to Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia last month, Tuscaloosa native, Wilder has emerged as a potential candidate to fight the Cameroonian – either in boxing or mixed martial arts next.

Weighing up a potential venture into the PFL (Professional Fighters League) SmartCage to face Batié knockout ace, Ngannou, Wilder also expressed an interest in fighting the above-mentioned, Diaz in mixed martial arts, leading to a bizarre and total leftfield offer from the former to don gloves and fight the heavyweight boxer.

“Let’s get these contract (sic) written up ASAP,” Nate Diaz posted on his official X account. “Real fight sh*t respect to a real fighter down to fight for real. All love to boxing. But this is different REAL sh*t LFG 1993.”

Yet to make his return to professional boxing in over a year, former WBC titleholder, Wilder rebounded from rematch and trilogy fight knockout losses to Fury, with a thunderous opening round KO win over Finnish heavyweight, Robert Helenius in Brooklyn, New York.

In what world does Nate Diaz actually share the cage with Deontay Wilder?

Jake Paul set to fight Andre August in professional boxing match in December

Polarizing professional boxer, Jake Paul is slated to make his return to the ring on December 15. – taking on fellow professional, Andre August in Orlando, Florida – over the course of eight rounds at the cruiserweight limit.

Paul, who boasts a 7-1 professional boxing record, most recently headlined a pay-per-view card in August of this year in Texas, landing a one-sided unanimous decision win over former UFC lightweight title challenger, Nate Diaz, dropping the Stockton native en route to his victory.

As for August, the 10-1 puncher – who has been blasted and labelled as a “complete unknown” fighter for Paul at this stage of his naive career, most recently landed a unanimous decision win over Brandon Martin back in August of this year to boot.

Jake Paul books December fight with Andre August

Ariel Helwani was first to report the news of Jake Paul’s professional boxing return next month against Andre August.

“Jake Paul’s next fight will be against Andre August (10-1) on Dec. 15 in Orlando, Paul and his promotion MVP announced this am,” Helwani posted on his official X account. “Fight will be contested at cruiserweight. Eight rounds.”

Addressing his leftfield fight with relative unknown, August, Paul claimed that he wants to become a world champion in the sport, and hopes to “build” experience against “seasoned fighters”.

“I’m a professional boxer and i want to be world champion,” Jake Paul said in a press release. “So I need to pursue the path towards greatness against people who have been boxing their whole life. So far, my entire boxing career has been on pay-per-view, but now it’s about more than business. Now I want to build my experience in the ring against seasoned fighters. I’m coming to prove my greatness Friday, December 15th live on DAZN for the world to see.”

Himself speaking on the booking of a fight between Paul and August, the Ohio native’s business partner, Nakisa Bidarian claimed that the bout will be “unforgettable” for viewing fans.

“Jake’s global star power has already made him one of the biggest names in boxing,” Bidarian said. “He’s sold more pay-per-views over his first eight fights than any other boxer ever and he’s one of the few names in the game advocating for women and prospects in the sport. And now he’s once again doing what very few of the best and biggester boxers in the world have done in their 9th professional fights – fighting someone with a better record and more experience.”

“Pound-for-pound, the great Terrence Crawford fought a 9-14 opponent in his 9th fight, Canelo Alvarez fought a 0-1 opponent, and Gervonta Davis fought an opponent that had 31 losses. But Terrence, Canelo and Gervonta didn’t have the world watching. Jake Paul does, and he’s once again putting it all on the line taking on a 10-1 opponent. Thank you to DAZN for working with us to make this event accessible to fans around the world.”
