Mike Tyson hints at referee favoritism if I have a tough fight he'll stop it

Heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson revealed another wrinkle in the seedy underbelly of professional boxing.

Tyson is undeniably one of the greatest boxers to ever step into the squared circle. Making his professional debut in March 1986, Tyson scored 27 straight wins in the span of 18 months before landing his first heavyweight title fight. Before long, Tyson was the reigning WBA, WBC, IBF, and The Ring heavyweight world champion. But as it turns out, Tyson may have had a little help in the ring courtesy of a particular referee that presided over multiple fights featuring the boxing icon.

In a video clip shared by JoeBuddenTV on YouTube, Mike Tyson points out a picture of himself standing alongside a referee while seemingly out for a night on the town. “He was a referee for a bunch of my fights,” Tyson confirmed. Asked if it was illegal to fraternize with a referee considering his status as a high-profile professional fighter, Tyson answered in the affirmative. “It was. Cause if I’m having a tough fight and I rock the guy, he’ll stop it quick. It’s in the business, man. That’s what we do,” Tyson revealed.

He saw me my first fight. Now he’s refereeing my fights. He favors me than the other… He see me as a kid coming up,” Tyson continued. He also revealed that referees, like fighters, work their way up the ranks. “They earn the opportunity to work bigger fights.”

Mike Tyson’s Meteoric Rise to Fame Came to a Crashing Halt in 1992

During his 20-year run, Mike Tyson went 50-6 with 44 wins by way of knockout. As fast as Mike Tyson’s rise to fame and fortune was, his fall was just as quick. In March 1992, he was sentenced to six years in prison after being convicted of raping an 18-year-old woman in an Indianapolis hotel room. Tyson ultimately spent three years behind bars, being released in March 1995. He resumed his boxing career that same year, ultimately reclaiming the WBC and WBA heavyweight titles.

He lost the WBA title during his first encounter with fellow boxing legend Evander Holyfield in November 1996. Seven months later, the two fighters would run it back. The rematch ended in disqualification as Tyson famously bit a piece of Holyfield’s ear off in what remains one of the most notorious moments in boxing history.

Today, Tyson and Holyfield work together to promote their THC gummy products, appropriately named Mike Bites and Holy Ears.

Nate Diaz described as overweight by boxer I thought he was dying Jake Paul fight

Undefeated professional boxer, Esquiva Falcao has detailed a rather worrying sparring session with former UFC lightweight title challenger and welterweight contender, Nate Diaz ahead of his slated professional boxing debut in August – as the veteran takes on the outspoken, Jake Paul in Dallas, Texas.

Falcao, a professional middleweight boxer who boasts an unbeaten 30-0 professional wrestler, managed to land a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympic games, will himself compete for an IBF championship at the turn of the month in July, taking on Vincenzo Gualtieri.

Nate Diaz and Jake Paul have agreed to now fight over the course of 10 rounds

And helping prepare Stockton fan-favorite Diaz ahead of his August middleweight boxing bow against Ohio native, Paul, Falcao had shared some insight into the tussle both men shared – issuing some worrying suggestions regarding the UFC veteran’s cardio and endurance.

“At first I thought he (Nate Diaz) was tired, and in the end it looked like he was dying,” Esquiva Falcao said on his official social media. “His fighting style is crazy. You look at him and say, ‘Oh, he’s tired,’ and then we started sparring. Robert [Garcia] told me in the second round, ‘He’s tired already, hold back a little bit and keep the rhythm so he does at least 10 rounds.’”

“I held back and kept boxing, and we did 12 rounds,” Falcao explained. “He (Nate Diaz) was tried, but taking punches and throwing, too. [He] is bad, [he] is bad, but since he’s too heavy – he’s overweight, probably around 220 pounds or more – and I’m the only big guy in the gym, I had to do it. But I liked to doing it.” (Transcribed by MMA Fighting)

Exiting the UFC back in November of last year officially, Diaz’s most recent combat sports outing came atop a UFC 279 pay-per-view card back in September of last year, defeating former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson with a fourth round guillotine choke win.

Former boxing world champion, Manny Pacquiao, is set to coach Philipines based influencer Vladimir Grand.

The infection of influencer boxings seems to be continuing to spread inside the combat sports world, and in yet another bizarre twist Pacquiao will now supposedly train a Tik Tok star from the ground up. Grand, who boasts nearly 2 million Instagram followers and 17 million on Tik Tok, posted an announcement to his social media alongside the former eight-division world champion.

“Hi everyone, this is Manny Pacquiao I have big news for you,” Pacquiao said. “For the first time in boxing history, I decided to get my first and only student whom I will personally train from zero and who will become a great boxer – Vladamir Grand.”

I still cannot believe this is happening,” Grand followed up. “I am just blown away by this news Manny. This is a huge honor and privilege to have you as my coach, to have you as my mentor, manger.

“I know this is going to be a long and exciting journey, for me, for us, for all of you guys,” Grand continued.

It is unclear why Pacquiao has decided to train Grand, originally from Ukraine, but it does seem that ‘PacMan’ has missed the sport since his retirement.

Will Manny Pacquiao to fight again?

Pacquiao retired from professional boxing following his August 2021 loss at the hands of Cuban pugilist, Yordenis Ugas. However he did have an exhibition contest against Korean YouTuber, DK Yoo in December of last year.

The 44-year-old fought professionally for over 25 years and is widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters ever. Like many boxers, Pacquiao has clearly found it hard to walk away from the sport and while there have been rumours of a potential Conor Benn showdown, Pacquiao is slated to take part in another exhibition contest this year.
