It’s now nine successful submission wins for Roufusport grappling standout, Brendan Allen — who scores a late first round heel hook win over Karl Roberson on the preliminary card of UFC 261.

Rebounding from a knockout loss to Sean Strickland back at UFC Vegas 14 in November, Allen moves to 4-1 in the UFC with the win, with two of his promotional wins now coming via submission.

The Dana White‘s Contender Series alum adds Roberson to prior successes over recent UFC Vegas 22 headliner, Kevin Holland, British standout, Tom Breese, and Kyle Daukaus. The former LFA middleweight best moves to 16-4 as a professional off the back of his win over Sanford MMA trainee, Roberson.

Round 1: Both men exchange jabs at the start of round one. Brendan Allen follows up with a nice low leg kick. Allen even tries to go upstairs with one. Sean Strickland catches a kick and takes out the legs of his opponent. Strickland jumps into the guard. He postures up and tries to land shots but Allen uses the space to stand up. Strickland has his man pressed against the fence – the pair jockey for position before disengaging. Strickland is looking really good on the feet here. Allen is pushing forward to try and gain some momentum. Allen lands a huge left hook – Strickland eats it well before going back to his own work. It’s really high volume from Strickland who is punishing his opponent every time he steps into range. Both men exchange huge shot. The horn sounds to end a super fun first round.

Round 2: Another really fast start. Allen is rushing forward. It seems to work for a moment before Strickland steps back and begins to pick his shots again. Allen is just eating so many shots right now. Strickland puts a combo together than rocks Allen. He’s tumbling to the floor and Strickland follows up with more to put his man away!

Next up on the UFC Vegas 4 main card at the Apex facility is a middleweight encounter between Brendan Allen and Kyle Daukaus.

Round 1: Allen misses a right hand. Daukaus lands a heavy body kick and lands a left hand soon after. They clinch up. Allen lands a body kick. Daukaus goes for the takedown but it’s defended as he has Allen up against the fence. Allen lands a big knee which drops Daukaus and has him mounted. He has the neck but Daukaus defends well. Allen still has his back and is landing heavy ground and pound including an elbow that cuts him open. Daukaus explodes and now has Allen’s back. However, Allen reverses and ends the round on top.

Round 2: Daukaus opens the round with some good striking but receives some of his own before he gets taken down by Allen. Daukaus eventually reverses and is in the half-guard position on top. But as is the theme in this fight, Allen reverses and lands some big shots. He looks to take Daukaus’ back but the latter escapes. Allen ends the round by dropping Daukaus with a left hand.

Round 3: Daukaus lands a nice combination on the feet and looks for the takedown soon after. Allen is taken down but looks to reverse with a guillotine attempt that fails as Daukaus is in his guard. Daukaus eventually gets his back and has the body triangle locked in as he looks to sink in the rear naked choke. Allen reverses and now has Daukaus’ back. They both scramble with Allen ending the fight with strikes. This was a proper scrap!

Official result: Brendan Allen defeats Kyle Daukaus via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-27, 30-27).
