Ariel Helwani has hit back against the “1000% false” remarks made by former UFC fighter turner podcaster Brendan Schaub and his friend, podcasting/stand-up extraordinaire Joe Rogan.
In a segment on his Bellow the Belt podcast, Schaub regurgitated the rumour regarding Helwani’s UFC media ban in 2016, citing his mishandling of top-secret information regarding Brock Lesnar’s return, in the run-up to UFC 200. The information was thought to have been leaked to Helwani confidentially prior to him making the story public.
“What Joe Rogan had spewed is 1000% false. What Brendan Schaub has then paraded is 1000% false. Joe Rogan source is Dana White, Brendan sources Joe Rogan. I think you know me long enough… if someone tells me something off the record, and I am sure you have told me things off the record, if I go out and report it, I should be done. There is no way I would practice that kind of journalism and still be here thirteen years later. If you tell me something in confidence and I report it, I should never be talking to you again. I should be outlawed. I should be banned from covering the sport – any promotion.”
What are Brendan Schaub and Joe Rogan’s accusations?
Following Helwani’s ban, Rogan aired much of the whispers regarding the ousting on The Joe Rogan Experience, calling to attention how the UFC had suspected a mole was leaking classified information to Helwani for some time, damaging the promotion in the process.

Moreover, in recent weeks, Schaub would add fuel to the fire of the spat, claiming on The Dan LeBatard Show that he had heard from “a million people” that Helwani is incredibly difficult to work with.
Yet again, Helwani was in no position to roll over when confronted with harmful gossip. While admitting that Schaub had later messaged privately to apologize for the comments, the 39-year-old Helwani again took to The MMA Hour to call for a public apology:
Do you think Brendan Schaub and Joe Rogan owe Ariel Helwani a public apology?

Former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub told another hilarious story about Colby Covington on an episode of his show ‘Food Truck Diaries”.
The clip has been making its way around the internet and has been providing a lot of laughs in the process.
According to Schaub, Covington hired two models to spend the day around him during their taping of Schaub’s show. Covington then asked one of the girls to rub his shoulders. She said no, as did the other girl that was there. Schaub had former UFC flyweight and bantamweight champ Henry Cujedo on while recalling the story. (H/T sportskeeda.com)
“He did his gimmick and this is the best part, he rented two chicks and I was like ‘do you have to do this?’ and he was like ‘I’m sorry man, I got to.’ So, they don’t know who he is and they hate being in there. They may have been strippers, I don’t know. Lovely ladies. So when they’re back he goes…you can tell he is always thinking, he goes ‘oh, while I’m talking to Brendan, can one of you rub my shoulders?’ and she goes ‘I’m not rubbing your f**king shoulders’,” said Schaub.
Covington has been on record as saying that he does these things to get the fans talking about him more. He says that entertainment is a big part of the game that is way he changes into another person when the cameras are on.
“That’s what it’s all about. That’s why the fans pay their hard earned money for. They are not paying to see people who are going to be like ‘Oh, I’ll fight anybody’. They’re just boring, you know? You need to create yourself as a character and it’s the entertainment business,” said Covington

Former UFC heavyweight turned commentator and podcaster Brendan Schaub has gained a lot of popularity in recent days after his heroic actions saved the lives of four children after a fatal car crash in Los Angeles. Schaub and a few others pulled over at a busy intersection in the city to help recovery efforts after a head-on collision that has been alleged to have been intentional and with a purpose.
Schaub and 49-year-old witness Rita Campos burst into action alongside a few other bystanders to help rescue the young family from the accident. An SUV driven by Cesar Iban Torres slammed into a car driven by his girlfriend, Aimee Garcia, and their four children, with Garcia being pronounced dead at the scene and the children suffering from minor injuries.
After Schaub’s rescue efforts went viral on social media, Campos spoke with MMA Junkie about the incident after Schaub discussed the whole situation in a recent podcast episode of “The Fighter and the Kid”.
“All of a sudden all these people were texting me the story and were like, ‘This is you. This is you he’s talking about,’” Campos said. “And then I watched (his podcast), and it just brought everything flying back. He gave me the baby, and I just kind of started focusing on the other kids. I did lose sight of Brendan at that point because that must’ve been when he left.”
Campos went on to clarify Schaub’s involvement in the rescue after some doubted his story on social media.
“I do feel his description from what I saw was accurate. He was there a minute or so before I was, but when I rolled up, he was definitely in (the act) of trying to rip the doors open.”
Campos says she cooperated with local authorities until the first responders told her she could leave the scene but stayed out of concern for the rescued kids.
While authorities haven’t officially come out and pointed to Schaub’s involvement in the rescue, it seems pretty clear that he was present and in some ways; responsible for getting some of the victims of the devastating crash out of harm’s way. It’s a remarkable story that will surely be discussed for weeks to come.
