Our friends at RawVegas.tv were impressed with the media turnout at the WEC 52 open workouts today inside the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, but were not thrilled to ask the same questions as everyone else. So they decided to focus on a favorite topic this month, Arianny Celeste gracing the cover of the November issue of Playboy magazine and if WEC Ring Girl, Brittney Palmer could hold her own in an issue of Playboy. Wondering if there were any questions that Urijah Faber hasn’t been asked, RawVegas decided to ask him which question he was tired of hearing and which question he’d love to be asked. As first reported by the Na Koa MMA Show, WEC lightweight contender Donald Cerrone was involved in a backstage brawl with a heavyweight headliner at the first event put on by Evolution Combat Sports Championship, this Saturday in Clovis, New Mexico. The brawl was apparently about a young lady now dating Donald Cerrone who used to date the main event fighter of the evening Marcus Sursa. [Ed. note: Not Brittney Palmer. Possibly this chick.] Comments were exchanged after Sursa returned from a trip to the rest room and Cerrone was overseeing the warm-ups of several Jackson MMA fighters on the card…some words were exchanged by the two and then a shove followed by Cerrone throwing a punch causing a laceration on the eye of Sursa, who responded with a punch cutting the lip of Cerrone.

UFC President, Dana White announced they will be adding Bantamweight and Featherweight divisions to the UFC.

The two new divisions feature WEC featherweight champion Jose Aldo, who will now be recognized as the reigning UFC featherweight champion, and WEC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz. White confirmed that the winner of the Dec. 16 lightweight title fight between WEC champion Ben Henderson and top contender Anthony Pettis live on VERSUS will take on the winner of the UFC 125 main event title bout between champion Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard. This upcoming fight will serve as a UFC lightweight title unification bout to be held next year.

Finally, Brittney Palmer will be seated next to Arianny Celeste and Chandella Powell. The excited Palmer tweeted today: ?”Dana says all WEC employees will come over to UFC. We expect/insist this will include @brittneypalmer” can’t wait!”

The cat’s out of the bag, and the "major announcement" turned out to be pretty damn major after all. Dana White announced during a media call today that the UFC is absorbing the WEC beginning in January 2011; the UFC will now feature seven championship weight classes. Here’s how it’ll work…

– Jose Aldo is automatically the UFC Featherweight Champion; he’ll defend his UFC featherweight title at UFC 125 on January 1st against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.

– WEC 53 (December 16th; Glendale, Arizona) will be the final WEC event. The winner of the bantamweight title fight between Dominick Cruz and Scott Jorgensen will become the UFC Bantamweight Champion. The winner of the lightweight title fight between Ben Henderson and Anthony Pettis will automatically face the winner of Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard at UFC 125.
