Flirting with a potential middleweight division excursion should he defeat Nate Diaz at the welterweight limit next month at UFC 279, undefeated force, Khamzat Chimaev claims he would fight former heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar for a sum of $1,000,000 if the UFC wanted to keep him active.

Chimaev, who currently boasts an undefeated 11-0 professional record, improved his undefeated Octagon tenure back in April on the main card of UFC 273, defeating one-time title challenger, Gilbert Burns in a unanimous decision effort over the course of five rounds.

Initially linked with a potential title-eliminator opposite former interim champion, Colby Covington, Chimaev has since been booked to top his first organizational event in the form of a welterweight main event in September against the exiting, Diaz – who is set to depart the UFC after completing his contractual obligations.

Expected to have one eye placed on this weekend’s welterweight title rematch between Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards, Chimaev has previously noted his willingness to fight middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya just in order to remain active should he overcome Diaz at UFC 279.

Khamzat Chimaev urges the UFC to cough up $1,000,00 for him to fight Brock Lesnar

As well as City Kickboxing mainstay, Adesanya, it appears former undisputed heavyweight champion and professional wrestler, Lesnar has once again found his way onto the radar of AllStars trainee, Chimaev, who claimed he would tackle the behemoth should the UFC fancy booking the unlikely bout.

“I actually told my manager, let me fight at 84(kg) (middleweight) as well,” Khamzat Chimaev told The Mac Life during a recent interview. “But he said, let’s wait and focus on 170. Take the belt, and then we’ll go up.”

“I’m ready for everyone, like, when I said I can fight with Brock Lesnar, it’s real,” Khamzat Chimaev explained. “I can fight with him, if they (the UFC) give me $1,000,000, it’s no problem. Let’s fight who they want. Kamaru Usman doesn’t matter.”

Yet to return to professional mixed martial arts since a surprise UFC 200 appearance back in July 2016, Lesnar originally landed a one-sided unanimous decision win over Mark Hunt, however, the result was overturned to an official ‘No Contest’ after Lesnar failed an in-competition USADA drug test.

Brock Lesnar

Former UFC heavyweight champion and professional wrestling star, Brock Lesnar, has opened up on his encounter with the late, former heavyweight boxing champion, Muhammad Ali – describing the latter’s embrace and overall aura as “powerful”.

Lesnar, a former undisputed heavyweight champion under the UFC banner, has yet to return to professional mixed martial arts since a July 2016 official ‘No Contest’ against Mark Hunt at UFC 200. Lesnar originally landed a unanimous decision win at the T-Mobile Arena, however, the result was overturned to a ‘No Contest’ after Brock Lesnar’s pre-fight drug test was flagged by anti-doping agency, USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency).

As for the iconic, Ali, the Kentucky hero passed away back in June 2016, after a prolonged battle with Parkinson’s, and his declining health, having last competed professionally in 1981. Ali, regarded as one of the greatest heavyweights and professional boxers of all-time, as well as argued as the greatest puncher of his generation, retired from the sport boasting a 56-5 professional record.

In the time since his most recent professional mixed martial arts bout, Brock Lesnar returned to professional wrestling under the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) banner, recently closing their flagship, Summerslam event against fellow professional wrestler, Roman Reigns.

Brock Lesnar admitted his encounter with Muhammad Ali impacted him greatly

Reflecting on a brief encounter with Ali, Lesnar admitted back in 2016 before his UFC return, that he was impacted by the “powerful” energy omitted from the Louisville legend.

“I got to meet (Muhammad) Ali one time and all I remember when I met and shook the man’s hand was, he never talked, at that point, Parkinson’s had taken over,” Brock Lesnar said. “But I just remember when he (Muhammad Ali) extended his hand and he didn’t have to say anything to me, it was just – not a weird vibe, it was such a gracious handshake and it was just very, I can’t even put a word to it.”
“So, I felt something powerful from the man,” Brock Lesnar explained. “I watched pretty much all of his fights, I met him one-time and he never spoke a word to me but I felt the presence and power from him. So it was impactful for sure, here’s a guy who’s a boxer, who’s selling tickets, walking the walk and talking the talk. He set the stage, it’s big business, you’ve got to be flashy on the outside and flashy on the inside.”

“It’s a tragedy, my heart goes out to the family, to live with Parkinson’s for so many years, very difficult,” Lesnar said. “That’s just a battle inside, forget how great of a champion he was. The man had to live with Parkinson’s for how many years? That’s a feat in its own.”

Frank Mir, Brock Lesnar

Frank Mir is open to the idea of a rubber match with Brock Lesnar.

Former two-time UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir took on Brock Lesnar for the first time at UFC 81. Lesnar, who came through from the WWE, had only fought once professionally as a mixed martial artist against Min Soo Kim at K-1. Following his debut win in the sport, Lesnar would be picked up by the UFC for a showdown against Mir.

Lesnar would be handily dispatched by Mir within 90 seconds with a kneebar submission. The pro wrestling superstar turned his fortunes around to go on a four-fight win streak that included a rematch against Mir, with Lesnar knocking him out in the second round at UFC 100.

Frank Mir is down to have the Brock Lesnar trilogy fight

In an appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Frank Mir shared his thoughts on a potential third fight with Lesnar.

“I wanted to put myself in a position by going out there and being successful at it, but it was one of those things where it wasn’t even in the talks,” Mir said. “I would be game [for a third MMA fight]. No [it was never close to happening]. Not on his radar, I guess. Just not that he wanted to do it. When you’re the A-side, he’s a draw money-wise, he gets to make more of the calls.

“From what I was told, because of the way I responded after the second fight, he truly felt that I was a little off. I think in Lesnar’s mind, how could you want to fight me again? People don’t [want to see it], so there’s something wrong with [me] that I think made him uneasy.” (ht MMA Fighting)

Mir claims that Lesnar does the “bare minimum”

Following his four-fight win streak, Lesnar would go on to drop two in a row. He fought one more time after that, taking on Mark Hunt at UFC 200. Although he defeated Hunt via unanimous decision, the result was overturned to a no-contest after he tested positive for clomiphene.

Mir claims that Lesnar doesn’t put all his efforts in and tries to get by doing as little as possible.

“I don’t know much about his pro wrestling, I don’t watch that often so I don’t know how bad he is at [promos],” Mir said. “But I think he’s definitely a guy, from what I understand and talking to other people in the industry, he does the bare minimum of what he has to do to cash a check and I don’t fault him for that.

“We all gotta make money and I think he’s more naturally a fighter than he is a pro wrestler and so I think it’s not his first love but financially it pays better and obviously, he can continue to do it for a lot longer.”

Dana White Regrets Never Booking Brock Lesnar vs Fedor Emelianenko

Dana White

Dana White has booked so many great fights throughout the years, but Fedor Emelianenko vs Brock Lesnar was the fighter that got away.

At the time, Lesnar and Emelianenko were two of the biggest draws in the MMA world. Lesnar bursted onto the UFC scene and it didn’t take long for him to be a fan favorite, and win a title. In just his third fight in the UFC, Lesnar beat Randy Couture by TKO for the Heavyweight championship. He then went on to defend the title twice against Frank Mir and Shane Carwin, who were two of the most dangerous Heavyweight fighters at that time.

Emelianenko around the same time was running through every heavyweight that was put in front of him, in multiple leagues. While he was in Pride FC and Adrenaline MMA, Emelianenko was beating former UFC Champions like Andrei Arlovski and Tim Sylvia. He is widely considered one of the best MMA fighters of all time, even though he never had a chance to showcase his talents in the UFC.

Dana White was fielding questions from the fan when he truthfully answered that he is still bothered by the fact that he never booked the fight

“I’ve made every fight that was ever possible to make in MMA including Mayweather and McGregor. The only fight that I ever failed to make was Fedor vs. Brock. Every other fight that we ever thought about or fans wanted to see or whatever it was, I made. That’s probably the one I couldn’t pull off.” White answered.(Transcribed by BJPenn.com)

There are many fan favorite fights that unfortunately never came to fruition, that many would have loved to see. This fight between two of the best heavyweights ever, will just have to enter that same list.

What is a fight that you always wanted to see, but never was made?

Jake Paul

Jake Paul couldn’t contain his excitement after receiving praise from UFC legend Brock Lesnar, who recently said, ‘The Problem Child’ and his brother, Logan Paul, are doing “great” work.

“Great for YouTube,” Lesnar said of The Paul Brothers during a recent interview with The New York Post. “I’m happy for those guys. They worked at something. They built their name up. They thought outside the box, they promoted themselves.”

Lesnar even suggested Logan Paul could successfully transition to the WWE.

“Can he become a professional wrestler?” Lesnar said. “Maybe if he puts as much ambition into that.”

Paul, who is clearly a big fan, took to social media to express his joy after reading what Lesnar had to say about him.

“Wow Brock Lesnar supporting my brother and I is crazy, we loved him and used to watch him all the time growing up. GO CHASE YOUR DREAMS TODAY,” Jake Paul wrote on social media.

Jake Paul’s Combat Career

Paul transitioned to boxing in 2020 and has quickly amassed a 5-0 professional record in the sport. The former Disney star is yet to face an actual boxer and holds wins over a fellow YouTuber, a basketball player as well as two former UFC fighters.

The 25-year-old has recently been flirting with the idea of transitioning to MMA, but he apparently wants big money and big fights in order to do so.

Last week, Paul took to social media with a proposal for UFC president Dana White that could see the internet celebrity square off against Conor McGregor inside the Octagon.

“Dana – Since you like me now, how about a 1 fight UFC deal to fight Conor,” Paul wrote. “If I win, you agree to my UFC fighter pay and healthcare proposal. If I lose I donate my entire purse to all UFC fighters who make less than $50K a fight and never mention UFC again Deal?”

Do you think we’ll see Jake Paul transition to MMA in 2022?
