According to some misguided crazy people, the world is going to end tomorrow. Apparently, May 21st, 2011 is the scheduled date of the Rapture, in which Christians will be shuttled off into the air to meet Christ, while the sinners will be left behind, leading to Armageddon or something. (For more information, consult this Kirk Cameron movie). If the rumors are true, we’re all pretty much fucked. Still, there’s a few MMA fighters who will be getting the sweet end of the deal. For instance…
BEN HENDERSON
The lightweight standout is one of the more vocal supporters of his Lord and Savior in the cage, shouting out Philippians 4:13 after every win. He makes his fight entrances to gospel music, and has never touched alcohol. Whatever bad stuff goes down tomorrow, he won’t be around for it. He’ll be in mid-air, doing that pyramid thing with his hands.
Stripped of his real estate and fighting licenses, Sonnen was just sentenced to a year of roaming the earth with no income, trying to “promote goodwill” and show that he’s rehabilitated. A swift, violent end would probably be an upgrade at this point.

CHAEL SONNEN

RICHARD HALE AND CHRISTIAN M’PUMBU
For what it’s worth, tomorrow’s Bellator 45 light-heavyweight tournament headliner in Lake Charles, Louisiana, will be the last televised MMA match of the day in this country. If God can hold off the rapture until the end of the night, Hale vs. M’Pumbu could very well be the last televised MMA match ever. That’s pretty damn historic. Not that we’ll care much about history in the post-rapture chaos, but still.
VITOR BELFORT
Famously, Vitor Belfort is the guy who expect Jesus, bro, every day. How psyched is he going to be when Jesus actually shows up on a random Saturday? All the hardships he’s suffered in his life were only tests from God. Now that he’s proven his devotion, he’ll be one of the first to be lifted off his feet, while Stankie stands there earthbound and furious, cursing his fancy ass.
JASON MILLER
Mayhem’s a “devout atheist” who once told a Mormon interviewer, “after my victory, I would like to thank science.” I can see him and Joe Rogan holed up in a bunker following the rapture, splitting a bottle of wine and discussing the mysteries of the universe. It’ll suck to have their cynical anti-beliefs proven wrong so dramatically, but for one sweet moment, they won’t be surrounded by so many assholes.

When Chael Sonnen‘s suspension was upheld by the California State Athletic Commission on Wednesday May 18, it was unclear exactly how long that suspension would keep the highly ranked middleweight out of the Octagon.
CSAC Executive Director George Dodd cleared the air on that topic on Thursday.
Dodd, speaking to MMAJunkie.com, cited California Code of Regulations Title 4 Rule 399, which states:
Any applicant who has been denied an application for a license may not file a similar application until one year from the date of the last previous denial by the commission. Any application filed within the one year period may be denied without the necessity of a hearing.
Anyone who has had his license revoked may not petition for reinstatement or apply for a new license until one year after the date of such revocation. Any petition for reinstatement filed within the one year period may be denied without the necessity of a hearing.
In short, Sonnen cannot apply for a new license in California until May 18, 2012 and even then, there is no guarantee that he will be licensed.
Sonnen is free to apply for licensure in other states, however most states honor the suspension of another state’s athletic commission.
During his hearing, MMAJunkie.com reported that Sonnen asked to have his suspension ended on June 5 so that he could apply for a license in Nevada to coach on season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter opposite Michael Bisping.
Sonnen’s current suspension runs through June 29, past the June 5 cutoff he would need to apply to coach on TUF.
Sonnen’s original was handed down after his loss to Anderson Silva at UFC 117, which was held in August 2010. Sonnen’s urine tested for high levels of testosterone, which he attributed to testosterone replacement therapy.
He was originally suspended for one year, but that was later reduced to six months on appeal.

Bleacher Report’s Mike Hodges:
UFC Hall Of Famer Mark Coleman is well aware of his capabilities at 46 years old and has strongly considered retirement.
However, there is one bout Coleman would be willing to compete in before he calls it a career.
“An opportunity to fight Herschel Walker would be something that I would drop everything [for] and try to train and prepare for him,” Coleman recently told MMAJunkie.com.
A bout against an opponent who is around the same age as Coleman wouldn’t exactly excite fans to watch or pay the price of admission to see. Fans saw Coleman already get battered and beaten up by another middle-aged veteran in Randy Couture at UFC 109, and Coleman said he hasn’t felt the desire to train and prepare since then.
However a bout with the former NFL star would motivate Coleman to get back in the gym and train accordingly, at this point it is only a rumour, and “The Hammer” tries not to think too much about it.
Coleman has been comfortable with his post-fight career, as he recently took a position at Ultimate Brand Management. The licensing company, which owns multiple MMA-related companies, allows Coleman to travel and make appearances and sign autographs.

The name “Chael Sonnen” has become one of the most dubious in all of mixed martial arts. The former NCAA Division I All-American is one of the most hated men in MMA today.
It is easy—and perhaps justified—to immediately dismiss Sonnen as a cheater and a criminal since, after all, he did get busted for highly elevated levels of testosterone and for money laundering.
Nevertheless, Sonnen has been in the sport—as well as under the Zuffa banner—for quite some time. He was even 1:50 away from being the UFC middleweight champion!
So, when it is all said and done, were the actions taken by Chael Sonnen in the UFC ultimately positive or negative in the long term? Read and find out.
