Everyone wants a crack at Amanda Nunes. The current UFC double champion comes off a successful first-round knockout title defense over Holly Holm at UFC 239.

“The Lioness” has looked unstoppable as of late, finishing nearly everyone who steps into the Octagon with her. The power in Nunes’ hands is unlike anything women’s mixed martial arts (MMA) has ever seen. The only woman who could rival her power, Cris Cyborg, Nunes finished in under a minute.

However, WBO, WBA, WBC, and IBF middleweight boxing champion Claressa Shields believes she can put Nunes away. Speaking to TMZ Sports, Shields said she believes she’d put the Brazilian to sleep:

“The greatest in MMA, but not the greatest fighter [Nunes is],” Shields said. “I’m the greatest of all time. I’ve always been. Amanda Nunes – she ain’t been to the Olympics two times. I’ve been on top of the world twice. I’m not putting myself against Amanda, because I like her, we’re both women athletes. I actually praise her like I did Cris [Cyborg]. She’s the GOAT in MMA, and I’m in boxing. And if we were to fight I’d win.”

Shields was then asked if she’d beat Nunes in MMA, to which she hilariously responded, “Hell nah, I can’t wrestle. But in boxing, yeah, Amanda Nunes would go to sleep.”

Nunes has virtually cleaned out the bantamweight division, and with featherweight so slim with contenders, perhaps a superfight between Nunes and Shields could come into play. No cross-sport fight has ever happened between MMA and boxing since Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor. Perhaps Nunes could be the first to change that.

What do you think about a potential clash between Shields and Nunes? Would Shields truly put Nunes to sleep?

10. Anderson Silva vs. Wild Card Gym Fighter

Even during his long reign as the UFC’s middleweight champion, legendary MMA fighter Anderson Silva made it clear that he was interested in competing in the sport of boxing and has stated many times he has the ambition to fight hall-of-famer Roy Jones Jr. in the squared circle.

In 2009, Silva trained for a week at Freddie Roach’s ‘Wild Card’ gym, humbly telling the world renowned boxing coach that “I’m pretty good at MMA, but I’m not too good at boxing.”

Roach decided to find out for himself and watched intently as he put Silva into a sparring session again an unidentified opponent in the gym.

Silva cruised through the rounds that followed, but it wasn’t until Roach later watched the UFC legend competing in the Octagon that he realized just how talented he was.

”I learned that he was just toying with my guys because when I saw him fight for real, he was a whole different guy,” Roach told Sherdog.com in 2012. “When he wants to turn it up, he’s the best.”

Roach has also gone on record stating that Silva had the best boxing of any MMA fighter he’d trained with, beating out the likes of Georges St-Pierre, BJ Penn and Nick Diaz.

Former Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg is approaching her first-ever UFC title bout next month (Sat., July 29, 2017) when she takes on Megan Anderson for the vacant female 145-pound title in the co-main event of UFC 214.

Justino made her UFC debut back in May of 2016 when she met Leslie Smith inside the Octagon on the main card of UFC 198 on pay-per-view (PPV) from her hometown of Curitiba, Brazil. Cyborg won the bout via first-round knockout just after one minute into the contest. She followed that up with a second round finish over then-UFC newcomer Lina Lansberg last September in Brasilia, Brazil.

Cyborg has long advocated for a female 145-pound weight class to be implemented in the UFC, and she got that wish when the promotion paired former UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie in the main event of UFC 208 this past February to crown the first ever women’s featherweight champ. “The Iron Lady” went on to win that contest via unanimous decision and was dubbed the first ever female 145-pound champion.

The Brazilian powerhouse was unable to partake in the historic bout due to the fact that she wasn’t given enough time to make the weight. Now, however, de Randamie has been stripped of her title due to her refusal to defend, and Cyborg now gets her crack at the gold when she takes on Megan Anderson, who has been called up from Invicta FC and vacated her own featherweight title to participate in the bout.

Anderson has won her past three fights inside the cage via early knockout, so Cyborg is taking her boxing training very serious heading into the fight. She has brought in North American Boxing Federation middleweight champ and 2012 Olympic gold medalist Claressa Shields for her camp, and video surfaced earlier this week of the pair’s sparing session. Check it out:

Shields took to Twitter after the session to credit Cyborg’s power and also offered her some tips to improve her striking game as well. Cyborg returned the favor by helping the boxer work on her ground game:
