Colby Covington is at it again, making some absolutely outlandish claims against one of his fellow UFC superstars.

This time, instead of taking aim at reigning welterweight world champion Leon Edwards, ‘Chaos’ is targeting former college roommate and currently heavyweight king, Jon Jones.

Currently, Colby Covington is gearing up for his third shot at the welterweight title though no official date has been announced as of yet. Recent rumors suggest that Covington and Edwards will step into the co-main event spotlight when the UFC heads back to Madison Square Garden in November for the promotion’s 30th-anniversary spectacular. That same night, Jon Jones will make his own return, defending his title against the general consensus heavyweight GOAT Stipe Miocic.

Speaking with Michael Bisping on the former middleweight champ’s YouTube channel, Covington revealed that despite recent rumors, he and Jones are unlikely to share the card together in November given the animosity between them.

“Let’s be honest. Let’s talk about the facts, Michael. Is Jon Jones going to be willing to share a card with his former college roommate who knows all his dirty secrets? All the skeletons that are in his closet,” Covington said. “I bet that he’s going over to the UFC right now and telling them, ‘Yo, I’m not sharing a card with Colby. I will refuse to fight here.’”

Colby Covington Offers Up Some Outlandish Accusations About the Reigning Heavyweight World Champion

Colby Covington took things a step further, making some absolutely outlandish claims against Jon Jones that had Michael Bisping practically falling out of his chair whilst laughing.

“The only way I see that fighting happening… We know Jon’s unpredictable,” Covington continued. “We know he might go sniff some white girls, kinda like Joe Biden. He’s not to be relied on. He might get pulled off the card and we might have to come save the day and be the main event.

“The real question that we need to be asking is honestly, was Jon Jones on the client list of Epstein Island? Honestly, there’s no way to confirm he was on it, but there’s no way to confirm he wasn’t on it. I just want to know the truth. Was Jon Jones on Epstein Island?”

Colby Covington Accuses Leon Edwards of Ducking Him

Though Colby Covington put a lot of his time and energy ripping into Jon Jones during the interview, ‘Chaos’ saved plenty for the man he is expected to square off with for the 170-pound crown later this year, Leon Edwards. Asked about the status of their highly anticipated title tilt, Covington suggested that ‘Rocky’ is doing his best to dodge their inevitable showdown, but the clock is ticking and Edwards will eventually have to make a choice; Step up and fight, or vacate the welterweight title.

“The situation is, [Leon Edwards] is still hiding from me,” Covington said. “Apparently, he knows that I’m a lot tougher challenge than even I think of him. I think if it was so easy, he would have came out and tried to defend already, but what I have to ask you Michael is, back in your career could you imagine being offered a home date in front of your home fans and turning it down and saying they don’t deserve that?

“Michael, the UFC tried to give millet mignon to the UK fans because the UK fans are so passionate and such great fans, and Leon said, ‘No. You’re sh*t. You a sh*t sandwich. You get a Fight Night event. You don’t get a pay-per-view world title fight.’ It’s sorry and I wonder what the people of the UK are saying about Leon Edwards in the streets right now because I guarantee it’s not good.

“The guy’s a coward. He’s out there ducking. He’d hiding. He’s looking for any excuse not to fight and his time’s about up. He’s going to be forced to come out here and fight, or worse things will happen. He’ll get stripped.”

Who do you see coming out on top when Leon Edwards and Colby Covington finally step inside the Octagon?

Colby Covington picked to beat Leon Edwards at UFC 295 by Rafael dos Anjos 60 percent chance

Former undisputed lightweight champion, Rafael dos Anjos has picked former interim welterweight champion and common-foe, Colby Covington – to defeat another former opponent, current undisputed welterweight gold holder, Leon Edwards, in an expected UfC 295 title fight.

dos Anjos, a former undisputed lightweight champion, has been sidelined since he featured on the main card of UFC Orlando back in December, submitting Bryan Barberena with a second round neck crank in Florida.

The Niteroi native is slated to headline UFC Vegas 78 this weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada – taking on fellow Brazilian contender, Vicente Luque in a main event bout at the UFC Apex facility.

Sharing the Octagon with both Clovis native, Covington, and Birmingham technician, Edwards during his initial stint at the welterweight limit, dos Anjos suffered a decision loss to both – the first of which in an interim welterweight title fight.

And with the knowledge of sharing 10 rounds against both Covington and Edwards, Brazilian veteran, dos Anjos has predicted the former wins welterweight gold, in an expected UFC 295 title fight in November at Madison Square Garden.

“It’s a very tough matchup,” Rafael dos Anjos said of a bout between Colby Covington and Leon Edwards during his availability with assembled media ahead of UFC Vegas 78. “I would say, 60-40. Sixty per cent chance for Colby Covington winning this fight. I give Colby a slight advantage.”

“His wrestling skills, and he’s got a pretty good standup, too,” Rafael dos Anjos explained. “But I think he’s going to mix it up more with the takedowns than (Kamaru) Usman did, and he’s going to have a better chance than Leon Edwards.”

Sidelined since March of last year, MMA Masters trainee, Covington most recently returned to the winner’s enclosure with a unanimous decision win over former welterweight title challenger and former training partner, Jorge Masvidal in the pair’s long-awaited grudge match.

Stephen Thompson is backing Leon Edwards to come out on top in a welterweight title clash with Colby Covington.

‘Wonderboy’ is back in action on Saturday night as the promotion heads to the Delta Center in Salt Lake City for UFC 291. Thompson will look to build on his win against Kevin Holland in December as he faces flashy welterweight standout Michel Pereira as part of a stacked main card.

Ahead of his highly anticipated return to the Octagon, Stephen Thompson spoke with members of the media to discuss the state of the welterweight division, including the proposed title tilt between division champion Leon Edwards and perennial contender Colby Covington. Asked how he sees that fight going, ‘Wonderboy’ answered without hesitation.

“Oh, I got Leon winning,” Thompson told reporters at the UFC 291 media event on Wednesday. “I mean, you saw what Usman did to Colby the last two fights. Colby is not a big welterweight and Leon is fairly a big welterweight, a lot bigger than Colby. Colby is known for his cardio, but Leon showed in his last two fights that he’s got the cardio with the best of them, and he’s got the grappling to defend the takedown and get back up.

“Kamaru is a very strong wrestler. I think he’s a lot stronger than Colby. So if Usman couldn’t hold Leon down, I don’t think Colby could. I think the fight stays standing and Leon picks him apart. That’s what I’m seeing from the fights that I’ve seen these guys face Usman in. The thing is, it doesn’t matter if it’s first round or last round. Watching his first fight with (Usman), you have to be, you can’t take this fight lightly as the fight goes on. He’s dangerous every step of the way” (h/t MMA Junkie).

Though no official announcement has been made, all signs point toward Edwards vs. Covington going down at UFC 295 inside the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden.

Colby Covington slams Marc Goddard again coward ref who's anti-Brexit

Former UFC interim welterweight champion, Colby Covington, is still not over Marc Goddard’s referring performance in his first fight against Kamaru Usman.

In December of 2019, Usman and Covington went to war in the main event of UFC 245, creating an instant classic. After what was a highly contested battle, Usman would stop ‘Chaos’ in the firth round of the fight after dropping him.

Covington has always disputed this stoppage, as well as other calls including Usman appearing to fake being struck by a low blow.

Colby Covington claims he was ‘cheated’

Continuing on with his usual shtick, Covington slammed Goddard for his refereeing performance, as well at his political views. The 35-year-old even claims that he was ‘cheated out of a win, and the undisputed welterweight title.

“I think that’s probably the fight that I want the most, because I know I was cheated out of those fights,” Colby Covington said. “The first fight, I kick [Usman] in the liver…He calls the nut shot. He takes a five-minute break, he gets a five-minute break to recover. I’m freaking out, losing my energy, not even concentrating on the fight, ’cause I thought I won the fight.” (h/t MMA News)

“He was ready to shut down, the coward ref – who’s anti-Brexit, Marc Goddard,” Covington continued. “Guy hates America, hates frickin’ everything I stand for, for conservative values. So of course the guy’s gonna rig it and call the bad, fake fouls against me. The guy’s poking me in the eyes, and the fight just keeps going. I was cheated out of the first fight.”

Covington is set to take on Leon Edwards for his 170lb title, rumoured to be taking place on the UFC 295 card in November.

Kevin Holland once again stole the show during his UFC 291 media day appearance on Wednesday.

Fighters were on hand in Salt Lake City as the promotion is just days away from another stacked event in the Crossroads of the West on Saturday night. In the main event of the evening, fans will witness a rematch five years in the making as high-octane fan favorites Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier square off in a five-round headliner to crown the next BMF champion.

Before fans are treated to that potential Fight of the Year contender, ‘Trailblazer’ Kevin Holland will look to add another win to his resume as he is set to scrap with The Ultimate Fighter alumnus Michael Chiesa inside the Delta Center. Ahead of their clash in the cage, Holland spoke with the media during the UFC 291 media day and did not disappoint, giving tips on how to juggle multiple women and labeling himself as one of the promotion’s undisputed bad motherf*ckers.

But of all the things Kevin Holland said during his time with the press, nothing got more attention than his dig at perennial welterweight contender Colby Covington.

Addressing the grapple-heavyweight style of Michael Chiesa and his own deficiencies on the ground, Kevin Holland revealed that his interest in fighting Chiesa hinged on his desire to test out his wrestling skills in an actual fight. Not to suggest that his skills are greater than his opponents. It was then that Holland brought up Covington’s name, taking a dig at the outspoken wrestler’s smothering style of fighting that is anything, but fan-friendly.

“I want to work on my wrestling in the cage against Michael Chiesa,” Holland said. I didn’t say that my wrestling was good enough to beat Colby Covington, you know what I mean? Now, me and Colby Covington get in there, I still believe I’ll knock him the f*ck out, but you know, he starts sniffing my d*ck, and it might be like that for 25 minutes, so that’s just the way it goes.”

You can expect Colby Covington’s scathing response in 3…2…

Kevin Holland Has Some Work to Do If He Wants to Step Inside the Octagon with Colby Covington

If Kevin Holland manages to get his hand raised on Saturday night, it will likely push him into the welterweight division’s top-15, though he won’t be anywhere within earshot of Covington who currently occupies the No. 2 spot. Whether or not ‘Chaos’ deserves to be ranked that high is an entirely different conversation, but ‘Trailblazer’ definitely has some work cut out for him if he ever hopes to share the Octagon with Covington.

Of course, Holland may shy away from the potential meeting altogether depending on how protective he is of his pelvic region.

Meanwhile, ‘Chaos’ is eagerly awaiting his third UFC welterweight title opportunity after coming up short against ex-champ Kamaru Usman on two separate occasions. In his last four bouts, Covington has only secured two wins which came against fighters who are no longer active; Tyron Woodley and Jorge Masvidal.

Colby Covington welcomes future title fight with Islam Makhachev UFC I beat him from pillar to post

Ahead of his expected undisputed welterweight title siege later this year, former interim champion, Colby Covington has welcomed a future showcase against lightweight kingpin, Islam Makhachev – describing the hypothetical bout an “easy” clash for him.

Covington, the current number two ranked welterweight contender, has been sidelined from active competition since he headlined UFC 272 back in March of last year, returning to the winner’s enclosure in a unanimous decision win over arch-rival, the now-retired Jorge Masvidal.

As for Makhachev, the Russian grappling ace headlined UFC 284 back in February, successfully defending his lightweight crown against his featherweight counterpart, Alexander Volkanovski in a close unanimous judging success.

And earlier this month, the American Kickboxing Academy staple was announced as the headliner of UFC 284 in October in Abu Dhabi, UAE – taking on former champion, Charles Oliveira in the pair’s title rematch.

Despite yet to book his own respective comeback, outspoken Clovis native, Covington is expected to co-headline UFC 295 in November against incumbent welterweight titleholder, Leon Edwards at Madison Square Garden.

And furthermore, if he strikes gold against the Birmingham native, Covington has welcomed the possibility of a future title defense against Sambo specialist, Makhachev next.

Colby Covington welcomes potential Islam Makhachev title fight at welterweight

“I love it, boys,” Colby Covington told Submission Radio of a potential fight with Islam Makhachev. “I mean, if you look at the storyline, you know, you got the USA versus Russia angle. I think the fight sells. It’s a big fight, you know – it’s not a competitive fight. I win it going away, I beat him pillar to post.”

“He can’t hang with me in the wrestling,” Colby Covington explained. “He definitely can’t strike with me, I trained the last guy that knocked him out (Adriano Martins) and another southpaw that I trained to prepare for that fight so, you know. It’s an easy fight – it’s Rocky 4 story. Rocky versus (Ivan) Drago. Let’s get it on. If he wants his business, yeah, oh man, he’s in for a rude awakening, boys. I will say, that’s a big fight. So, that’s an exciting one. We’ll see what happens.”
