UFC welterweight Colby Covington has angered another UFC heavyweight besides Fabricio Werdum, this time drawing the ire of Derrick Lewis.

Lewis, who recently defeated Marcin Tybura at UFC Fight Night: Cowboy vs. Medeiros on February 18, took the opportunity to bash the controversial welterweight, who has made many an enemy since signing with the UFC in 2014.

Lewis didn’t mince words while discussing Covington with Ariel Helwani during The MMA Hour for allegedly ‘running his mouth off about him’ (via MMA Mania):

“While we’re on the mic, fuck Colby, whatever his name is. Fuck you, motherfucker. Just so you hear that. Go ahead and put that out. I heard he was talking shit. He’s one of those boys that wears Polo shirts and as soon as you touch him, he’s going to call the cops on you. One of them preppy motherfuckers. I don’t know where it was on, I just heard he was talking shit.”

Covington has previously beefed with Werdum while the two were in Australia for a recent UFC event. Words were exchanged between the two and Werdum was ultimately cited for throwing a boomerang at Covington amidst the confrontation.

Other UFC fighters from Kamaru Usman to champion Tyron Woodley have all at some point had words with the brash welterweight. Covington (13-1) has not yet responded to Lewis, but knowing him, he most likely will.

What are your thoughts on Covington? Do you find his attitude entertaining or just downright annoying?

UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley says he’s putting his rifts with UFC president Dana White behind him to focus on being the best champ he can be.

Woodley, who’s often butted heads with White over his performances, his hot takes on race in MMA and other things, spoke to TMZ Sports to finally end his beef with the boss as he focuses on preparing for his next title defense (via Bloody Elbow):

“I’m squashing everything. I’m focusing on getting the shoulder together. One-by-one, everybody will get these hands. I don’t know the order. I don’t know who’s next. But I never wanted to bounce around and not continue to defend my belt. I’ve been here for a while and I plan on knocking everybody out.”

“I’m going to take a woosa,” Woodley continued. “So if you people want to know about the Dana beef, about the Frankenstein beef, about the Queefington beef, I don’t want to talk about it. I’m focusing on being successful.”

Woodley’s jabs at “Frankenstein” and “Queefington” are in reference to Rafael dos Anjos and Colby Covington, two welterweights who have been hounding Woodley and Dana White to get a title shot as vocally as possible.

In the past, White had called his welterweight champ a “drama queen,” leading to Woodley’s discussion of how black fighters and champions are treated compared to their white counterparts.

Do you see White and Woodley moving past their rift?

Colby Covington has his sights set on two big names, and he plans on retiring them.

UFC President Dana White has gone on record by stating that former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos is the clear front-runner to challenge current UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley next.

However, that has not stopped Covington from hovering over this situation and seeing how he could leapfrog dos Anjos in line for a title shot.

Covington went on record in a recent interview that dos Anjos and Woodley are the only two names on his current list of fights to make.

He added that if he is given the chance to fight them, he would retire these fighters when he finally gets his hands on them.

“The list is really only two,” Covington told ESPN’s Five Rounds podcast (via ESPN). “That’s what I’ve earned in my career. There are only two fights to make for #NerdBash2018, these nerds I’m going to bash and retire, and that’s RDA and T-Woodley. Those storylines are already written,” he said.

Make no mistake about it, Woodley is still the top pick for Covington as he wants the title.

However, this has been that has unsuccessfully for quite some time now.  With RDA next line, Colby may have to wait just a little bit longer.

“Woodley is not a draw. He needs help selling a fight,” Covington said. “I’m his money fight. I’m the guy. If he fights me, there are going to be a massive amount of fans who want to see him knock me out. He can be a hero that way, and that’s what he wants to be. He’s trying to be a hero, but really he’s just a fake and a fraud.”

“I completely broke him,” Covington said. “I will take his soul in that Octagon and he will never fight again, mark my words. I guarantee it. You heard it here first. I completely dominated and owned him and he knows that. That’s why he’s avoided me,” concluded Covington.

Controversial welterweight Colby Covington has made quite the name for himself both inside and outside of the cage last year, and this year appears to be no different.

Covington has his sights set on welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, and as usual, he won’t hold back while doing so.

The welterweight contender called Woodley out for ‘race-baiting’ and vows to be the champion the people want (via Submission Radio):

“He let’s things get to his emotions. He’s literally a prima donna. That’s the perfect explanation for Tyron Woodley. He tries to racebait. The people that don’t like him and don’t wanna watch him for or think he’s boring, ‘Oh, they’re racist’. That’s his only claim now.

“So, he’s just trapped, he’s in a corner and he’s defeated before anything. The fans have completely gotten in his head and everybody’s under his skin. He doesn’t know how to handle the position he’s in now, but it’s okay, I’m gonna take over his position as welterweight champ and you will see the division be made great again.”

Covington (13-1) most recently defeated Demian Maia in October and has kept his name in the press ever since. Meanwhile, Woodley himself beat Maia at UFC 214 and is due for a title defense after recovering from shoulder surgery for the torn labrum he suffered in the fight.

However, Covington will have to navigate his way around fellow contenders Rafael Dos Anjos, Santiago Ponzinibbio, and Darren Till in order to get a fight with the champion, and he may just have to face off with surging contender Kamaru Usman before he fights any of them.

Who would you like to see Woodley defend his belt against next? Should Covington be the next fighter in line for a shot?
