Former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor is destined to never make a return mixed martial arts according to his own fans on social media, as the Dubliner takes in the sun on his own yacht amid a recent family holiday to Switzerland.

McGregor, a former undisputed lightweight and featherweight titleholder, was forced out a return last month at UFC 303 during International Fight Week, scrapping a three-year hiatus-snapping comeback.

Shelving a fight with former lightweight title challenger, Michael Chandler, McGregor revealed he fractured a toe on his left foot in the weeks ahead of his scheduled welterweight fight with the ex-Bellator MMA star.

And recently jetting out to Switzerland for a family vacation – McGregor posted footage of himself scaling the monstrous Glacier 3000 ski resort – gaining praise from his fans for apparently conquering his fear of heights.

Yet to book a return to action amid links to both a comeback in August, as well as a massive showdown at the Las Vegas Sphere for a Riyadh Season sponsored Noche UFC event, fans are doubting McGregor ever returns amid footage of his latest yacht trip

Earlier this week, McGregor managed to add to his riches even further, seeing a $500,000 bet on former two-time foe, Nate Diaz payout a stunning $1,625,000 check after the Stockton native’s decision win over Jorge Masvidal in the pair’s professional boxing rematch over the course of last weekend in Anaheim.

And despite speculation from fans that he will never compete again, UFC play-by-play lead, Jon Anik has boldly predicted McGregor will compete twice in the space of eight months.

“I’ve been waxing optimistic on Conor (McGregor) for a long time,” Jon Anik said. “I fully expect him to compete in 2024, to come back at a high-level. Fight twice in eight months – I know it sounds ridiculous and super ambitious to some people, but I just know the mixed martial arts athlete is in there, and I just remain hopeful that he’s going to come back and make more of an impact that anyone expects that he will.”

“I messaged Conor after UFC 300 and I said, ‘Only thing bigger than 300 is McGregor versus anybody,’” Anik explained. “So, the biggest thing we can do is have a Conor McGregor-led pay-per-view. …”

A fight between Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili for the UFC bantamweight championship is all but confirmed. The fighters have been targeting each other online for months and have repeatedly suggested that they might main event the Riyadh Season Noche UFC event.

O’Malley last defended his title in March against Marlon “Chito” Vera in dominant fashion. Dvalishvili on the other hand, secured his title shot by beating Henry Cejudo in February for his tenth consecutive win in the UFC.

With both fighters and fans worldwide awaiting an official announcement regarding their matchup, O’Malley’s coach has speculated the reason behind the delay from the UFC.

Sean O’Malley’s Coach Blames McGregor vs. Chandler For Delay In Dvalishvili Fight Confirmation

During a recent episode of the TimboSugarShow on O’Malley’s official YouTube channel, he and Tim Welch discussed whether the UFC has an interest in adding McGregor vs. Chandler to the UFC 306 card at the Sphere. If true, this can naturally lead to other major fights being shifted to different events.

“Sugar” highlighted that Ilia Topuria vs. Max Holloway is also rumored to be an option for the September 14 card. Yet again, the return of the Irishman can impact when and where this fight happens.

“The Sphere, and Dana keeps saying it’s going to be something f*****g crazy, and then you got Conor-Chandler maybe going around, you got Max-Ilia, you got me and Merab. You got f*****g some pretty big fights to possibly make, but honest to god, I have not heard from the UFC,” O’Malley said.

The champ’s coach agreed that the UFC could be eager to organize McGregor vs. Chandler at UFC 306. Because the Dubliner’s commitment has been called into question lately, Welch thinks that the UFC hasn’t been able to confirm the other fights on the card.

“It’s probably a tough thing for the UFC. It’s like, they want to let you know. If they knew, I’m sure they’d let you know right away. But when you’re dealing with someone like Conor McGregor, who’s just, one day he probably wants it, one day he doesn’t, one day he’s just booger sugared up, one day he’s this. They’re probably waiting on that.”

During his iconic run to becoming a double UFC champion, McGregor was known for fighting consistently and not pulling out despite injuries. However, his returns to the Octagon since fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the ring have been the exact opposite.

With nine weeks remaining before the Riyadh Season Noche UFC event, both O’Malley and his coach expect the official announcement for the Merab Dvalishvili fight to arrive as soon as possible should the promotion decide the bantamweight gold will be on the line at the Sphere.

Conor McGregor may be enjoying the cozy surroundings of his luxury hotel in Switzerland, but that isn’t stopping him from putting in work as he continues the march toward his long-awaited return to the Octagon.

While on a family vacation to the plush Montreux Palace Hotel in the land of mountains, chocolate, and fine watches, the Irish megastar greeted fans before opting to skip out on the local festivities in favor of a double training session.

“What they don’t see,” McGregor said as walked into the private gym in a since-deleted Instagram post. “They party, I pull power.”

“Take your health serious or take it somewhere else, yeah?” McGregor said before greeting fans. “I’ve got work to do. Millions today alone, parties out my back garden and where am I? Still here, after hours. Second session of the day, Sunday night… The workout is not going to get done by itself. Happy Sunday” (h/t Bloody Elbow).

Conor McGregor scales Glacier 3000 after delayed UFC return

Conor McGregor was originally scheduled to square off with Michael Chandler in the UFC 303 main event on Saturday, June 29, but a broken pinky toe forced him out of the bout.

Fortunately, it appears as though the injury is healing quickly as McGregor recently celebrated scaling the Glacier 3000 instead of making his first walk to the cage in three years.

However, the former two-division champion suggested that his quote-unquote “greatest comeback in combat sports history” had only been delayed with an anticipated return date being sometime in August or September, though the UFC nor its CEO, Dana White, has made any official announcements regarding a rescheduled date.
