Conor McGregor believes the stoppage for Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz at UFC 244 was an unfortunate one.

Masvidal and Diaz battled for the BMF title back in November in a contest that the former largely dominated. However, the fight was cut short before the start of the fourth round because of a cut near Diaz’s eye.

That didn’t go down well with many with some claiming Diaz was robbed. Diaz, himself, has claimed that Masvidal was slowing down at the end of the third round.

That’s something McGregor believes as well as he was talking about the possibility of facing the winner in a recent sit-down interview with Ariel Helwani:

“Yeah, you don’t know in what way Nate is now,” McGregor said. “Whether he wants to do it again [with Masvidal]. I think he got robbed of it. You can see Jorge dipping. He was dipping at the end of that third round. And that’s when Nate was kicking in.

“It would have been great to see four and five. We didn’t see it. Look, whatever. We’ll see what happens.”

It is entirely possible that McGregor is trying to bait Masvidal, who he could end up facing next should he get past Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 this weekend.

Regardless, what do you make of McGregor’s comments?

Conor McGregor still has ambitions to box again.

The Irishman ventured into the boxing world when he fought Floyd Mayweather back in the summer of 2017. McGregor performed above expectations, but was still outclassed by “Money” who went on to win via 10th-round TKO.

McGregor has since returned to the UFC and will have his second fight when he faces Donald Cerrone this weekend. However, he still sees himself boxing in the future and would like to have a rematch with Mayweather. He notably believes he would win the second time around:

“I’d like to rematch Floyd,” McGregor said in a sit-down interview with Ariel Helwani. “I think we should rematch Floyd. … I’ve done phenomenal in that bout. The only reason I lost that bout was because I prepared for a back-footed, flee shelled style of opponent. And when the fight was like that, I was picking him apart. Then he came forward and started pressing and I wasn’t sinking in to my shots like I am now.

“… I know I beat Floyd if we rematch. When we rematch. … I’d like to box him. I think that would be a good rematch.”

However, McGregor is open to other opponents in the sweet science. He even claimed there was an offer to fight Manny Pacquiao only for it not to come to fruition:

“I would be open to other boxing bouts,” he added. “There’s been talks with the Manny fight. There was an offer made on that. Not yet [but it’s a possibility] very much so.

“And the Paulie fight, I’d love to fight Paulie as well. I wanna box again. I will get a boxing world title.”

Former two-weight champion Conor McGregor is the biggest superstar in UFC history and his paychecks certainly show it.

The Irishman has earned some of the biggest paydays in the sport and went on to earn a further nine-figures when he boxed Floyd Mayweather back in 2017.

McGregor returned in 2018 when he lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov and is now set to return again this Saturday when he faces Donald Cerrone in the UFC 246 headliner. Like always, “The Notorious” is expecting a huge payday. But not many expected the amounts he claims to have earned and will earn soon, at least in MMA:

“I’m confident it’s going to be a nice paycheck,” McGregor said of his upcoming bout in a sit-down interview with Ariel Helwani. “Probably [the most] in my mixed martial arts career. I’d say about $80 million. We got Australia, Canada, England and Ireland. Should be a good one.

“Made $50 million [for the Nurmagomedov fight]. They think I’m toast Ariel, but I’m still the bread.”

With all these huge paydays, one would wonder why McGregor continues to fight. After all, many questioned if he would even fight after the lucrative payday he got from the Mayweather fight.

But for McGregor, it’s all about his passion for fighting:

“For me, it’s not about money,” he explained. “I’m in a position where it’s forever money. This is not about money for me. No amount of money will stop my hunger for this, my hunger to compete and entertain and live my life the way I want to live it and the way I enjoy to live it. Too much money in the past can be dangerous. There’s no limits, no boundaries — you can do anything, you can go anywhere.

“I know what I want to do and what I enjoy doing and this is what I enjoy doing so I’m going to keep doing it. Now I’m doing it full steam ahead and I’m in the best shape of my life, mental and physical.”
