Dan HendersonAfter a February show that kicked off the Heavyweight Grand Prix in style, Strikeforce will do its best on Saturday night to keep the momentum going despite a long delay before the next Grand Prix fight. And the man they’ll count on to help them keep the momentum going is the most prominent non-heavyweight the promotion has ever signed: Dan Henderson.

Henderson, whose signing was heralded as a major coup for Strikeforce in 2009, will now fight for the promotion’s light heavyweight title after falling short of earning the middleweight belt a year ago. Although Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante is the champion, Henderson is the undisputed main draw on Saturday night’s four-fight Showtime card, which we’ll preview here.

What: Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson

When: Saturday, the live Showtime card begins at 10 PM ET.

Where: Nationwide Arena, Columbus

Jon JonesThe last time I ranked the Top 10 light heavyweights in mixed martial arts, I wrestled with the question of who’s the No. 2 fighter in the weight class: Lyoto Machida, Rampage Jackson or Rashad Evans?

Now I have the answer: None of the above.

Jon Jones put on his fourth consecutive spectacular performance in beating Ryan Bader at UFC 126, and I can no longer put Jones below anyone other than champion Shogun Rua. With just about any other fighter of Jones’ age and experience I’d say the UFC is rushing him into a title shot in this situation, but with Jones I can’t argue: He has proven that he deserves to be considered the second-best light heavyweight in the sport.

So I’ve got Shogun and Jones, who will meet in the main event at UFC 128, at 1-2 in our light heavyweight rankings. Find out where the rest of the division stacks up below.

My own list of the Top 10 pound-for-pound fighters in mixed martial arts doesn’t include anyone outside the UFC, and I’m sure Dana White‘s list wouldn’t either. But when White was asked in Toronto on Wednesday to name the best pound-for-pound fighter he doesn’t have under contract, he named someone who had a 6-4 record inside the Octagon before leaving the promotion four years ago.

“The pound-for-pound best fighter outside the UFC? That’s a good question,” White said. “Probably Nick Diaz. Nick is nasty. Nick’s a tough kid and probably should be in the UFC, but he’s too crazy. He does crazy stuff.”
