MMA Legend Dan Henderson has sounded off the state of Fedor Emelianenko’s career after suffering his most recent loss.

This past Saturday night in the headliner of Bellator 214 at The Forum in Inglewood, California on the Paramount Network, Ryan Bader finished Fedor Emelianenko to win the vacant Bellator heavyweight title.

Emelianenko is a historic figure in the history of the MMA game and no doubt an MMA Legend. In the eyes of Henderson, he praised Bader for a job well done but also thinks that Fedor’s chin is suspect and could be all used up.

“Damn good job from Bader, for sure. Fedor’s had kind of a suspect chin,” Henderson told Fight Hub TV (H/T to MMAMania). “He’s still super dangerous. I figured [Bader] would win but not quite in that manner. It seems like [Fedor] could be all used up, unfortunately, I would love to see him out there more, but.”

The MMA legend finished former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir in the main event of the Bellator 198 event at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois via strikes in the first round in a Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix quarterfinal bout. His next fight saw him beat Chael Sonnen on at Bellator 208 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York by first-round TKO.

Some obviously come from wrestling, having spent their lives learning to take opponents down and defend their takedowns.

The collegiate wrestler turned MMA fighter usually gets some grief. Fans typically believe that the wrestler depends largely on the lay and pray and ground and pound methods to win fights. While this sentiment may have held true in the early days of MMA, it’s not the case anymore.

In today’s MMA, athletes transitioning from collegiate wrestling have an abundance of resources. This has led to more wrestlers developing scary knockout power.

We took a look at 10 wrestlers who became knockout artists in MMA. The list starts here:

Tyron Woodley

Few college wrestlers have enjoyed the success in MMA as UFC welterweight champion Woodley.

Woodley burst on the fight scene in 2009. He quickly developed a reputation as a finisher and made his Strikeforce debut in just his third pro fight.

As of late, the reigning welterweight champion has come under some criticism for his lack of urgency when closing out some of his more recent title defenses.

The “Chosen One” answered the doubters at UFC 228 when he smashed Darren Till with a thunderous right hand and followed it up with a submission victory.

Billed as the most anticipated event in the history of the promotion, UFC 100 on July 9th, 2009 in Las Vegas proved to be a historic night that more than lived up to the pre-fight hype.

Almost a decade later, we looked back at 10 crazy stories that occurred before, during, and after one of the most memorable events in the sport’s history.

Dana White’s BASE Jump Promise

Caught up in the growing buzz before UFC 100, Dana White got carried away when asked if the event could smash the promotion’s previous record of 1.2 million pay-per-view buys.

“1.5 million buys – I’ll jump, I’ll BASE jump off the Mandalay Bay. I promise,” White told the media.

However, when it emerged that UFC 100 had, in fact, hit that lofty target, there was no sign of White perched atop the iconic 39-floor building. But the media was not quick to forget his promise and at the end of the year, he was reluctantly forced to speak about it again.

“I’ve actually been working on it,” White claimed. “I’ve been training for it. I’m going to do it. … I’ve been training with one of the best BASE jumpers in the U.S.

“You guys keep [expletive] pushing me. You guys are the ones doing this to me. That’s what I get for opening my big mouth. I didn’t know we were going to do that many buys. I didn’t know.

“So, I said I’d do it. Now I’m going to do it.”

However, White’s promise proved to be nothing more than hot air as nearly a decade later he still hasn’t gone through with it.

It’s been less than two months since UFC legend Vitor Belfort retired following his brutal knockout loss to fellow Brazilian Lyoto Machida at May’s UFC 224 from Rio de Janeiro, but it looks like ‘The Phenom’ is already itching to fight.

After he made a post on social media where it looked like he was well on his way back to his ripped TRT-era form, Belfort followed it with a post that referred back to his legendary highlight reel knockout over former Pride champion Wanderlei Silva, who is now scheduled to face Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in Bellator this fall.

But that wasn’t the only former high-profile name Belfort hinted at, also calling out several former UFC champions. Check it out:

‘The Phenom’ is perhaps trying to get his name on the rumored Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz fight supposedly promoted by Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, yet his gameplan for calling out these onetime rulers of the octagon is somewhat curious.

Wand will face ‘Rampage,’ Liddell and Ortiz will most likely meet one another, and Bisping and Henderson are retired without any indication they’ll come back to the fight game.

So it looks like Befort is already missing the rush of the sport he was such a huge part of for over 20 years. Of course, he could just be reminiscing, but from the looks of him only a short while after he retired, he could at least be seriously considering a comeback.

Does a future in Bellator or even Rizin FF await the Brazilian slugger who may be rethinking that recent retirement?

For any sane, rational person, getting into a street fight with a professional MMA fighter would be considered a fate worse than death.

From vicious strikes to brutal slams and bone-breaking submissions, mixed martial artists spend their days learning new ways to inflict pain and punishment on anybody that’s foolish enough to stand in their way.

There’s always someone out there that’s looking for trouble though, and so while the majority of MMA stars are only interested in putting their techniques into practice in the cage, there are often stories about occasions when they had to put their skills to use in the street.

In this article, we’ll take a closer look at some of the most infamous street fight stories told by some of the UFC’s biggest stars, from outnumbered battles against barroom bouncers to life-threatening altercations with weapon-wielding thugs, and not forget the time several legends of the sport became embroiled in a brutal back-alley brawl.

Bas Rutten

Back in the mid-1990’s Bas Rutten was already a famous MMA fighter, and so when he showed up at the famous Spy Bar in Sweden the bouncers warned him to keep out of trouble.

Soon afterward, two of them pulled Rutten to one side and asked him to leave. Rutten agreed, but the bouncers seemed to be fixing for a fight and a shoving match ensued.

One of the bouncers then dived over his colleague and poked Rutten in the eye, then did the same to his other eye. Rutten dropped him with a single punch and before long he was now fighting five angry bouncers, all intent on beating him up.

’El Guapo’ sent more bodies went flying but realized this wasn’t going to end well and decided to head for the exit.

He reached a fire escape, but couldn’t open the door and turned around to face the bouncers again, who were now armed with broomsticks.

Moments later the police showed up behind Rutten and the bouncers backed off.

Rutten was jailed that night after it emerged that one of the people he’d KO’d during the melee had been a cop, but in the end he was released a few days later after the charges were dropped.
