Kicking off the UFC Vegas 21 main card is a middleweight contest between Eryk Anders and Darren Stewart.

Round 1: A lot of feinting early on. Stewart lands a leg kick. Stewart lands another while Anders looks to land a counter punch. After a flurry, it appears Stewart has hurt Anders. Anders clearly shows signs he’s hurt and goes for a takedown. Stewart is defending so far against the fence as he lands two knees. Anders separates and lands some big strikes. He gets the takedown soon after but Stewart gets to his feet. However, Anders unleashes a flurry and proceeds to drop Stewart. He looks to be getting the finish but Stewart does well to just about survive. Anders trips him and proceeds to knee him on the ground which is an illegal strike. The second week in a row! The doctor waves it off after deeming Stewart unable to continue.

Official result: Eryk Anders and Darren Stewart ends in a no contest (R1, 4:37).

UFC Middleweight Eryk Anders has had somewhat of a mixed bag of result during his 10 fight UFC tenure.

The 33-year-old has victories over the likes of Markus Perez and Gerald Meerschaert, during which he has have shown glimpses of his true potential. However, losses to top prospects such as Thiago Santos and Krzystof Jotko have stopped him from breaking into the top 15.

Anders has an upcoming fight against Darren ‘The Dentist’ Stewart which presents another opportunity for ‘Ya Boi’ to begin another run at the middleweight rankings.

In a recent interview with LowKickMMA, Anders detailed how he sees the matchup with Stewart going.

“He’s got a lotta strengths you know. Strong, powerful, fast,” Anders said. “Has all the physical attributes. Hits hard. Really good boxer, kickboxer. It’s gonna be a good scrap I think. His strengths and my strengths are the same. I think we go out there and see whose strengths is stronger.”

When asked how he saw the fight itself going, Anders remarked that “I think in every fight there’s a mental game going on, as well as the physical stuff you see. But yeah, I think we’ll meet in the middle, trade, be more of a technical brawl if you will.”

Stewart and Anders will face off on the undercard of UFC Fight Night: Khamzat Chimaev vs Leon Edwards, on March 13th.

Despite Chimaev being only three fights into his UFC career, Anders bares him no ill will. “I mean this sport is very much about what have you done for me lately, and lately I’ve lost. And ya know, he’s won. He’s the guy right now. It is what it is. There’s the business aspect to it. (If) I put 2 (or) 3 wins together, it’ll be me.”

Opening the main card at UFC Fight Night: Covington vs Woodley we have a middleweight clash between Kevin Holland and Darren Stewart.

Round 1: The pair open the fight with a touch of gloves. Holland appears to put pressure on early coming forward before a land from Stewart backs him up. The pair clinch in the center of the cage, Holland lands knees before the two end up against the cage. Still clinch Stewart lands an unintentional low blow that puts a temporary halt to the action. Action back on, Holland throws a low kick. Stewart returns with one of his own. Holland lands a slap off a low kick. The pair continue to trade kicks. The two exchange in the pocket with Holland being caught and stunned. The pair continue to trade back and forth at close range before clinching. The pair exchange body shots before Holland separates. back in the center of the octagon Holland rushes in and lands a combination on Stewart. Holland lands another combination as Stewart closes the range. Stewart shoots a takedown on Holland, however, the pair end up clinched against the cage with Holland reversing the position. Holland separates and throws a high kick before the bell closes the round.

Round 2: Holland opens the round with a low kick. Stewart catches a kick and lands a takedown before getting straight back up and out of his guard. As Holland waits for a stand up Stewart lands leg kicks. The pair continue exchanging low kicks on the feet. Holland lands a heavy counter one – two followed by a flying knee. Stewart lands a heavy jab. Holland pressures Stewart to the cage with a combination. Holland shoots in for a takedown which sees Stewart lock up a guillotine. Stewart gives up on the submission returning to the feet. The pair exchange jabs. Holland pushes Stewart back with a front kick. The pair clinch on the cage again landing body shots to close the round.

Round 3: Holland lands a heavy right hook to open the round. Stewart lands a takedown off a kick, however, Holland gets right back to his feet. Stewart keeps committed landing the takedown once again. Holland stands up which sees Stewart take his back. Holland rolls for a kimura which allows a scramble for Holland to return to his feet. The pair return to the center exchanging jabs on the feet. The pair clinch on the cage once again. Stewart lands a heavy elbow. Stewart secures another takedown. He begins landing elbows on the ground. Holland covers up to reduce some damage from the ground strikes. Stewart finishes the round on top landing ground strikes.

Round 1: Pitolo lands a knee to the belly as Stewart attempts a combo. Stewart is the one advancing and pressuring more early on. They exchange more. Pitolo shows good head movement and is momentarily clinched up by Stewart before they return to striking. Pitolo catches him with a right hook. He is mixing things up with leg kicks too. Pitolo misses a spinning backfist and Stewart controls his back. Pitolo reverses and takes him down but Stewart sinks in the guillotine to get the submission!

The Cage Warriors 113 main event strangely features UFC middleweights Darren Stewart and Bartosz Fabinski. Once a part of UFC London which was unfortunately postponed the fight was saved last week by CW President Graham Boylan.

Round 1: Bartosz Fabinski comes running at his opponent Darren Stewart. The pair begin to grapple and exchange positions against the cage. After almost spending half the round against the cage Marc Goddard finally steps in and separates the two fighters. Fabinski runs straight back in for a takedown and gets it. Stewart immediately fires off a huge elbow which cuts his opponent badly. The blood-soaked Pole maintains top position and eventually works to the back of Stewart. He’s firing in elbows but Stewart uses the cage to get back up. He jumps for a guillotine and is squeezing hard before the horn sounds to end round one.

Round 2: Fabinski again comes out hard. This time he opens up with a spinning back fist before securing the takedown. ‘The Dentist’ grabs for the choke but he hasn’t got it – but he’s not letting go of Fabinski’s head as he moves into side control. The Polish fighter eventually postures up throws a few elbows before Stewart regains full-guard. The clock is ticking down and Stewart can not get back up. Fabinski is happy to sit in guard and continue to throw short shots whilst maintaining top position. The referee again asks for more action which prompts Fabinski to start unleashes shots with his opponent trapped against the fence.

Round 3: Fabinski looks visibly tired as he begins this third round. His first takedown attempt gets easily shrugged. Stewart surprisingly goes for his own takedown and secures it. He lets a few shots go but Fabinski quickly jumps back to his feet before securing his own takedown and continuing the work he started in rounds one and two. The Englishman is trying desperately to get back to his feet but as soon as he does he’s dragged back down the mat. Again, he’s back on to his knees but back down he goes again – he looks so frustrated. He won’t give up though, he stands up again but Fabinski lifts him up high and slams him to the ground. Stewart resorts to slapping Fabinski from the bottom as the clock ticks down and the fight ends.
