Conor McGregor, Tyson Fury, and Anthony Joshua Could Be the Future of Bare Knuckle Fighting

BKFC boss David Feldman sees a future where Conor McGregor, Tyson Fury, and Anthony Joshua are all toeing the line for his bare-knuckle fight group.

In recent years, Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship has made some big strides toward becoming one of the premiere combat sports organizations in the U.S. Aside from getting the brutal sport sanctioned in 25 states since its inception in 2018, BKFC has seen an influx of ex-MMA stars like Eddie Alvarez, Luke Rockhold, Michael ‘Venom’ Page, and ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry make their way into the squared circle.

Of course, you can’t talk about BKFC these days without mentioning Conor McGregor. Earlier this year, the Irish megastar revealed that he is a part-owner of the ever-growing organization and has made regular appearances at BKFC events both stateside and overseas.

Conor McGregor

Recently, BKFC founder David Feldman shared some pretty lofty goals for the organization’s future — the most logical of which would see McGregor step inside the squared circle as a competitor rather than an owner.

His others just so happen to include two of the biggest names in the boxing game today.

“The best people would be Conor, Tyson Fury, and Anthony Joshua,” Feldman told World Boxing News. “Anthony Joshua did an interview and said my first favorite sport is boxing, and my second favorite is bare-knuckle fighting. He said it to the public. There’s guys like that out there, and I don’t think it’s far-fetched to see some of the best boxers in history, or best MMA fighters in history, take the gloves off and fight for BKFC. I don’t think that’s far-fetched.”

Anthony Joshua

Feldman says stars like Fury, Joshua, and conor McGregor fighting in BKFC is ‘only a matter of time’

Bagging athletes like Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury may seem unlikely, but the BKFC has proven to be a strong draw for athletes who have entered the twilight of their respective careers. Perhaps one day when ‘AJ’ and ‘The Gypsy King’ are no longer guaranteed draws in boxing, they can continue to find success — and big bags of cash — fighting for Feldman and McGregor.

“I don’t want to drop the names, but Conor McGregor — he’s out there, and he says it,” Feldman continued. “‘I’m a player-manager. I’m going to fight bare knuckle.’ It’s only a matter of time that him, Fury, Joshua … who knows?

“I’m not saying they are going to do it, and not saying they’ll not do it, but I think there’s a good shot of any combat sports athlete in the whole world now doing Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, I really do.”

Conor McGregor has a lot to say as part of BKFC deal we're gonna get a lot of usage out of him

Conor McGregor is now a minority owner of BKFC, as it was announced during the broadcast of KnuckleMania 4.

McGregor has been at BKFC events in the past, but the partnership did come as a bit of a surprise. Although McGregor is only a minority owner, Feldman revealed he has a lot of say, as BKFC wants to use his star power to help bring more awareness to the promotion.

“He’s a minority owner, but he has a lot of say in this company,” Feldman said on Sirius XM’s MMA Today (via MMAMania). “He’s going to be part of the board. So, we’re going to get a lot of usage out of Conor McGregor. And so far, so good. You know, very, very enthusiastic. I just hope things keep moving that way.

“We wouldn’t have gotten Conor McGregor involved to be a silent owner,” Feldman added. “Like, we don’t just want him to be a partner and not say anything, and not do anything, and not help move the needle. We got him involved to really help move the needle for us, to do different introductions, come up with some good ideas. He built himself into superstardom, so hopefully he can help some other fighters do that as well.”

What Conor McGregor will do with BKFC is uncertain, but having him involved in the promotion will no doubt help bring more eyes to the promotion.

Conor McGregor won’t fight in BKFC

Although Conor McGregor is now a minority owner of BKFC, David Feldman says he won’t be fighting for the promotion.

“No, [fighting for BKFC] hasn’t been talked about at all,” he said. “It’s not part of this deal. Him and UFC go together very well, and he’s he’s going ride that out. I guess we’ll see what happens after that. But, right now, he wants to obviously get these two fights over with, create a lot of viewership, and make a lot of money.”

McGregor is under contract with the UFC and is set to return at UFC 303 on June 29 against Michael Chandler. It’s an intriguing fight, but after he fights out his UFC contract, Feldman isn’t ruling out him competing at BKFC.

Exclusive – David Feldman: Luis Palomino isn’t popular enough to fight BKFC star Mike Perry: ‘He has to earn it”

David Feldman didn’t hold back when it came to discussing the business of Mike Perry fights. In an exclusive interview with LowKick MMA, he said plain and simply that Luis Palomino isn’t ready to fight Perry yet.

Even more honestly, he…

David Feldman didn’t hold back when it came to discussing the business of Mike Perry fights. In an exclusive interview with LowKick MMA, he said plain and simply that Luis Palomino isn’t ready to fight Perry yet.

Even more honestly, he also insinuated that just simply beating Austin Trout on February 2nd at BKFC 57 won’t even be enough. No, Luis Palomino needs to have a superstar performance. In the words of Feldman himself: Palomino needs to make fans want to watch a potential fight between him and Perry.

9-0 in the BKFC, Luis Palomino is currently the BKFC lightweight champion of the world. However, this hasn’t sealed the deal on the biggest money fight of his career. Yet. The door is still open for a Palomino vs. Perry banger, but ‘Baboon’ won’t earn this money fight just via meritocracy alone. David Feldman has a business to run, and he is in the business of selling fights.

David Feldman Describes Arguement with Luis Palomino

In an exclusive interview with LowKick MMA, David Feldman was asked about the potential for Mike Perry to face the winner of the rapidly approaching Palomino vs Trout fight, and also about the direction he personally would like to see Perry take.

“I mean, it’s possible.” Feldman began, speaking about the possibility of a Palomino vs Perry fight. “I actually had an argument with Luis, because he wanted to fight Mike Perry. And I said look, coming off your last performance, you gotta give fans a reason why they want to see you fight Mike Perry. And right now, no one is asking for that…”

The BKFC boss would continue on the subject, highlighting how Palomino was so hyped up to prove himself to be worthy for the Perry fight that he was yelling.

“Now (I told him), go out there this time, and do what you need to do just to get people talking.” David Feldman said. “Saying ‘I want to see Luis Palomino fight Mike Perry’. And you know, we’d (Palomino and I have) gone back and forth a bit… I said listen, man, I’d love nothing more than to see you earn that shot and get your ‘just due’, but you have to earn it. And this is your shot, this Friday night to earn it. So, you want it? Go out and get it.”

When asked if he’d prefer Perry to chase a money fight or a title shot, the answer the CEO of BKFC gave was a very truthful and realistic one.

“Not really,” Feldman said. “Because what people don’t understand is look. If we’re not talking about the growth of the company and we’re just talking about putting on good fights. Then yes. But you’re talking about the growth of the company.”

“You need to put on these big names fighting other big names. Because, when the big names don’t fight big names, it doesn’t get people really, really interested. So, you have to have the big names fight the other big names. And, that gets people who’ve never viewed this before to actually watch it and potentially become a fan of this sport, and this promotion. And that’s the goal here.”

Do you think Luis Palomino will defeat Austin Trout at BKFC 57 and fight Mike Perry next, and, what’s your opinion on the take from David Feldman about Perry’s future fights?
