Dillon Danis Challenges MMA Guru After Controversial Comments on BJJ Being "Fake and Gay"

After embarrassing himself against Logan Paul last year, Dillon Danis is going after a much easier target.

Recently, the former Conor McGregor coach found himself in another bizarre feud. This time with online personality and perpetual troll The MMA Guru who labeled Danis’ sport of choice both “fake and gay” after seeing Bryce Mitchell put jiu-jitsu specialist Kron Gracie to sleep with a nasty third-round elbow at UFC 310.

“Bryce Mitchell puts that name merchant Kron Gracie to sleep in round 3 after two rounds of Kron trying to embarrass the sport live on a UFC PPV main card,” he wrote on X. “No ability on the feet & despite Rogan’s attempts to make it seem so, no threat on the ground. BJJ is fake and gay #UFC310”

The disrespect forwards jiu-jitsu caught the attention of Danis who quickly snapped back at the Guru and challenged him to a scrap on the mat.

“Let’s spar live and I’ll have you screaming for your life while I teabag you,” Danis replied.

MMA Guru Tells Dillon Danis that BJJ is for ‘Unathletic Nerd Victims’

Never one to let anyone else get the last word, The MMA Guru doubled down on his thrashing of ‘the gentle art,’ and threatened to break out Rick Martel’s favorite maneuver should they ever cross paths.

“The fact that YOU succeeded in BJJ is nothing but more proof that it’s a made up martial art for unathletic gay nerd victims of life that can only implement it on people that don’t have any knowledge of it,” Guru added. “I’d Boston Crab you in 3 minutes bring it.”

Dillon Danis Lawyers Abondon Social Media Star and MMA Fighter in Nina Agdal Lawsuit

Dillon Danis is gonna need a new lawyer after the attorneys representing him in an ongoing lawsuit filed by Nina Agdal filed a motion to be withdrawn from the case.

According to a report from MMA Fighting, a filing made on September 12 revealed that Danis’ lead attorney Mark Berman filed a motion to withdraw as counsel after repeated issues representing the controversial combat sports star. The attorneys reportedly filed to withdraw based on the “defendant’s failure to comply with the terms of the firm’s retainer agreement” and “a breakdown in communication between defendant and counsel which has resulted in, among other things, counsel’s failure to ensure compliance with court orders.”

Danis’ former attorneys also stated that the ex-Bellator fighter has “failed to pay the firm’s monthly invoices in a timely fashion and has failed to maintain the required retainer agreement” based on the contract to hire them and “this has been a recurring problem.”

“I personally like Mr. Danis, I find this case to be an interesting one and I would prefer to continue representing him,” Berman wrote in the filing. “However, I cannot do so effectively if he fails to respond to my communications and the firm will not allow me to do so if he fails to comply with the terms of the retainer agreement.

“For those reasons, counsel respectfully asks the court to grant counsel leave to withdraw as counsel for the defendant.”

Agdal is seeking unspecified damages and $150,000 per violation of federal revenge porn laws that dillon danis allegedly violated

The lawsuit was initially filed in September 2023 after Agdal, a Danish model and the fiancée of YouTube star Logan Paul, accused Danis of posting “despicable” things about her more than 250 times on social media in the months leading up to a boxing match between Danis and Paul. Agdal claims that she suffered “humiliation, emotional distress, and reputational harm” from the repeated posts.

Agdal also claims that one of the images Danis shared was a photo of her taken during a private “romantic encounter” more than a decade ago. Agdal alleges that by distributing the image, Danis violated state and federal revenge porn laws.

Agdal is asking for unspecified damages as part of the lawsuit and $150,000 per violation of federal law, which prohibits sharing intimate images.

Judge Michael A. Hammer ordered an in-person conference scheduled on September 24 to address the ongoing issues between Danis and his attorneys.

Dillon Danis offers to fight NicK Diaz at UFC 303 in debut Let's go

Grappling star, Dillon Danis has once more offered to make a long-rumored Octagon landing amid his exit from long-time home, Bellator MMA last year – claiming he would fight with former title challenger, Nick Diaz at UFC 303 next month, alongside his close friend, Conor McGregor.

Danis, a former feature under the banner of Bellator MMA, had competed twice under the promotion’s scrutiny with a pair of back-to-back submission wins over Kyle Walker and Max Humphey, landing his sole two professional mixed martial arts victories.

And a needling grappler to boot, Danis, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under the tutelage of Marcelo Garcia, suffered a professional boxing debut loss to the polarizing WWE star, Logan Paul back in October of last year, in the form of a disqualification defeat in the pair’s heated grudge fight.

Dillon Danis offers to take on Nick Diaz at UFC 303

Welcoming a potential move to the Octagon in a bid to kickstart his mixed martial arts career once more, Danis, 30, offered to take on former welterweight title challenger, Diaz – in what would come as the Stockton veteran’s first outing since his 2021 return to active competition.

“Add me versus Nick Diaz on UFC 303 let’s go!” Dillon Danis posted on his official X account.

Himself linked continually with a return to the UFC following his TKO defeat to ex-champion, Robbie Lawler back in 2021 in his hiatus-snapping comeback fight, Diaz has ramped up training majorly in recent months – notably showing off his striking skills.

And finding himself on the receiving end of claims from former Octagon titleholder, Tyron Woodley how he apparently rejected a “dumb bag” to fight him, Diaz claimed “somebody is gonna pay very soon” as he teases a stunning return to the UFC.

Instagram ‘clown’ Dillon Danis claims he had an affair with Paige VanZant, ’12 Gauge’ responds

Instagram 'clown' Dillon Danis ignites intense rivalry with Paige VanZant and Austin Vanderford

A war is brewing between former UFC fighter Paige VanZant and internet troll extraordinaire, Dillon Danis.

On Saturday, May 25 ’12 Gauge’ will step inside the boxing ring for the first time as she challenges influencer Elle Brooke for the Misfits Boxing middleweight championship at MF & DAZN: X Series 15.

Paige VanZant

During a recent interview with Misfits Boxing ahead of her promotional debut, VanZant was asked her thoughts on other mixed martial arts who have tried and failed to make a successful transition from the cage to the ring. In her response, PVZ specifically singled out Dillon Danis who delivered a wholly embarrassing performance against Logan Paul in October.

“Dillon Danis is not a fighter. He’s not a fair comparison…[Ben Askren?] Not a fighter,” VanZant said. “He’s a wrestler. Nate Diaz is great…Jorge Masvidal…I think a lot of people try to compare my career to UFC veterans who leave the UFC because they either get cut or it’s the end of their career.

I left the UFC when I was, gosh, 25…I wasn’t 40. I didn’t have a hundred fights under my belt. I was still young in the career and young in my sport.”

Of course, it didn’t take long for Danis to respond to the negative comment from VanZant. But instead of delivering some garden variety combat sports trash talk, Danis suggested that he and ’12 Gauge’ had a secret tryst during a couple of trips to ‘Sin City’ together.

“How fast they forget! Haha, relax, Paigey baby, just because I didn’t wife you doesn’t mean you have to be petty. Don’t make me bring up our two trips to Vegas and ruin your marriage,” Danis wrote on X.

Taking exception to Danis’ insinuations, VanZant delivered a scathing response on social media, revealing the one brief and fairly awkward interaction the two shared during her time with the UFC.

“There’s a certain clown on Instagram named Dillon Danis trying to talk some sh*t and stir up some drama, so let’s f*cking go,” VanZant said. “Dillon, obviously I said you’re not a ‘real fighter.’ My bad. I triggered you. I understand I hurt your feelings. But instead of coming back and just talking sh*t about me, saying I’m not a real fighter, what did you do? You kinda f*cked yourself, right? You backed yourself into a corner because now you have to come up with proof of this alleged affair.

“The only time I ever remember seeing you in Las Vegas was at the UFC athlete retreat. You walked up to me in a bar, asked me to peg you in front of multiple other UFC fighters, and I laughed in your face. That’s not the definition of a relationship, is it? And stirring up drama on the internet to try and fight my husband, there are definitely better ways that you could handle that. He’s got three things you will absolutely never have: 1) a wife 2) friends and 3) a real MMA resume.

“So, Dillon, I’m sorry I hurt your feelings, but when you’re a piece of sh*t like you are, it’s pretty f*cking easy.

Paige VanZant’s husband, MMA fighter Austin Vanderfor, also chimed in and suggested that if Danis wants to throw hands, he’s more than willing to oblige.

“Dillon, guy …,” Vanderford said on Instagram. “Let’s just fight. Paige’s comments seemed to upset you. We are the same weight. We can box or do whatever you want.”

Dana White Shuts Down Talks of Dillon Danis Fighting in the UFC: ‘A total unprofessional clown show’

Dillon Danis

Don’t expect to see Dillon Danis step inside the Octagon anytime soon.

Earlier this year, Danis proved himself capable of selling a fight, though his tactics were nothing short of questionable. Leading up to his fairly uneventful showdown with Logan Paul at the Misfits Boxing event on October 14, Danis targeted the WWE Superstar and his fiancee, Nina Agdal, on social media, posting NSFW images of the Danish swimsuit model and a host of memes poking fun at their relationship.

The harassment went so far that Agdal ended up suing Dillon Danis for allegedly violating state and federal ‘revenge porn’ laws.

Even that was a bit too much for the UFC CEO.

“I have no beef with the kid at all, I’ve probably said two words to him in my whole life — but every time he’s around, sh*t going down,” White said about Danis on The Full Send podcast. “We can’t have that stuff going on here.”

The biggest issue for White is the frequent physical altercations that Danis finds himself involved in. In attendance for UFC 295 in Madison Square Garden, Danis reportedly engaged in a scuffle with veteran MMA fighter Steven Peterson outside of the building.

“I didn’t know that [Dillon Danis at UFC 295] until after when he was out front fighting with everybody,” White said. “I saw it on Instagram.”

The Tactics Dillon Danis Uses to sell fights are what will ultimately keep him out of the UFC

Though White can’t deny that Danis has proven himself to be an attention-getter in combat sports, the continuous violence and mayhem that surrounds his every appearance is something the UFC simply can’t have, contrary to popular belief.

“A lot of people will see when guys get into it on stage or something starts to happen they’re like, ‘Oh they must love this!’ No, we don’t love it,” White said. “We don’t need that sh*t to sell fights. The athletic commission goes crazy, and people start getting fined and they come after us.

“It’s our job to keep that sh*t under control. That’s why where you see these other events with guys and everything breaks out like that, it’s a f*cking total unprofessional clown show” (h/t MMA Fighting).

With Dillon Danis’ Octagon dreams officially dashed, it now appears that the former Bellator standout will fade away into retirement. But fear not. ‘El Jefe’ has plenty of ammunition to keep things spicy on his social media channels.

Alex Pereira is Pulling for Dillon Danis to get a UFC contract: ‘He’s a Very Talented Kid’

Dillon Danis Alex Pereira

Alex Pereira hopes to see Dillon Danis one day compete inside the Octagon.

On Saturday night, Alex Pereira will step into the UFC 295 main event for his third world title fight in less than a year. After claiming the middleweight championship with a stunning fifth-round knockout of Israel Adesanya last year, the ‘Brazilian Boogeyman’ will look to become a two-division titleholder as he challenges the returning Jiri Prochazka for the vacant light heavyweight strap.

Addressing members of the press during Wednesday’s UFC 295 media day, Alex Pereira was asked about his relationship with embattled BJJ specialist Dillon Danis. ‘Poatan’ had worked with Danis in the weeks leading up to the outspoken star’s grudge match with Logan Paul. Since then, Danis has expressed a strong interest in signing with the UFC, something Pereira fully supports.

We did two night sessions, one before the [Jan] Blachowicz fight which was MMA training, and another one for this fight he was having with Logan [Paul],” Pereira said when asked about his experience working with Danis.

“First, we did an MMA session and I could see that he’s a very talented kid. We had two night sessions. He’s a great guy and the fact that he’s actually in negotiations with the UFC, or trying to get in, I think is awesome and I’m rooting for him.”

Dana White Offers a Curious Answer When Asked About Signing Dillon Danis

It’s not the first time Alex Pereira has fielded questions regarding his work with Danis. Speaking with Ariel Helwani, the former UFC middleweight champ was very complimentary of Danis’ efforts.

It was great training, he said he enjoyed rounds with a specific type of sparring; it was very nice training. It was the second time because the first time we trained was a few months ago. Dillon was able to pick up a lot of stuff today, so it was very good,” Pereira said during an appearance on The MMA Hour.

During a Power Slap press conference last month, UFC CEO Dana White was asked about potentially signing Danis to the roster. “I don’t know, I haven’t even actually thought about that,” White said, before quickly turning his attention to the next question. The fact that White skirted around the question so fast only added to the speculation that the New Jersey native had already been in talks with the promotion.

Dillon Danis scored back-to-back first-round submissions under the Bellator MMA banner in 2019 but has been absent from mixed martial arts since then. His scrap with Logan Paul under the Misfits Boxing banner left a lot to be desired, but it proved without a shadow of a doubt that Danis can sell a fight, making him a potentially valuable asset for Dana White and Co.
