The main card for UFC Vegas 55 featured four decisions and some controversial scorecards, particularly in the women’s bantamweight main event between Ketlen Vieira and Holly Holm.

Ketlen Vieira claimed a narrow split-decision victory for the biggest win of her career against former champion Holly Holm. The Brazilian earned 48-47 cards from two judges, while the third judge scored the fight 48-47 in favor of Holm.

The third round of the fight ended up being the difference on the scorecards, likely due to Vieira appearing to rock Holm late in the round. She also very nearly submitted the former champion in the second round.

In the co-main event, Michel Pereira improved his welterweight win streak to five with his own split-decision over Santiago Ponzinibbio. All three judges agreed that Pereira took the first round, but rounds two and three were much less clear. Pereira ended up walking away with a 30-27 and 29-28 scorecard to get the victory.

The results of the main and co-main events brought the event full-circle, as the main card opening bout between middleweights Eryk Anders and Junyong Park also went to a split decision. Park ended up getting the nod in a back-and-forth fight where none of the three rounds received a unanimous score from the judges.

In the only unanimous decision on the main card, Tabatha Ricci picked up her second UFC victory against fellow Brazilian Polyana Viana. “Baby Shark” won rounds 2 and 3 on all three judge’s scorecards.

The only fight of the UFC Vegas 55 main card to not go the distance was the middleweight bout between Chidi Njokuani and Duško Todorovi?. After Todorovi? was able to use his wrestling to control the majority of the opening round, Njokuani landed a vicious elbow to get the knockout victory.

Eryk Anders seems to have branched off into the acting world.

The UFC light heavyweight is featured in the preview for the upcoming fifth season of Netflix’s hit show “Cobra Kai.” It seems to be a pretty significant role, as he’ll cross paths with the show’s main character, William Zabka’s portrayal of Johnny Lawrence.

In the trailer for the upcoming season, Anders eats a head kick from Lawrence at an MMA event. You can check it out here below:

Anders then took to Instagram to follow up on the trailer with a comment, “But is that the end of the fight?”

This is quite the move for Anders, as ‘Cobra Kai’ is one of Netflix’s biggest shows. As it pertains to the Octagon, Anders is 1-1 in his last two fights since jumping up to light heavyweight. The 35-year-old has been competing in the UFC since 2017.

Anders is quite the athletic specimen, as a former starting linebacker for The University of Alabama. It certainly shows in his fighting style, as he’s a very exciting fighter for fans to watch. Currently, his next Octagon appearance is slated for May 21.

He’ll step into the Octagon against Park Jun-yong at UFC on ESPN+ 64 from the UFC Apex in Nevada.

The UFC’s Eryk Andres (22-6 MMA) has taken up his latest challenge against his own power tools this week. 

Anders shared the outcome to his followers on his social media, after apparently slicing his foot open after an accident with his chainsaw. 

Despite him not explaining the events that led to his foot being sliced up, the photos however displayed it was bad enough to go straight through his shoe, sock, and skin all in one go.

In the social-media post to Instagram, ‘Ya Boi’ titled it: “They don’t make left-handed chainsaws,” wrote Anders alongside the hashtag #HappyFriday.

As a result, Eryk Anders had to receive several stitches to fasten the noticeable injury that will surely see him side-lined away from the octagon for the time being. 

In spite of his current situation Anders tried to make light of the situation by stating. “Starting training camp on the right foot.”

Following the 34-years-old horrendous accident, Anders showed a video to his fans showing the pool of blood on the driver’s side of the car, while Eryk Anders can be heard exclaiming, “Damn, my DNA (is) everywhere.”

What’s next for Eryk Anders?

Andrers suffered a first-round submission loss to Andre Muniz at UFC 269 this past December, bringing his record with the UFC to 6-6 (1 NC).

However, prior to his latest showing against Muniz, he went on to defeat Darren Stewart via unanimous decision in what was a light heavyweight rematch at UFC 263.

UFC commentator Daniel Cormier has gotten under the skin of some over his ‘Best MMA Boxers’ list, including Nate Diaz and Rafael dos Anjos.

Cormier, along with his DC & RC co-host Ryan Clark, revealed their ‘Top MMA Boxers of All-Time’ lists earlier this week. This comes amidst the ongoing debate and conversation about who the best boxer in the UFC is today.

Cormier’s Top 5 MMA boxers are listed below.

  1. James Toney
  2. Max Holloway
  3. Petr Yan
  4. Conor McGregor
  5. Junior Dos Santos

Cormier’s list was not well received by the MMA community as a whole, and more specifically his former fighting colleagues. Fighters such as UFC middleweight Eryk Anders and more recognized names such as Nate Diaz and Rafael dos Anjos blasted Cormier in an Instagram comment section.

“Watchu knows about boxing DC, I’m s**tting on this list,” Diaz commented.

Diaz was followed up by Dos Anjos, who took the opportunity to poke at Cormier for his alleged bias towards his former teammate Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“I’m surprised [Cormier] didn’t put Islam and Khabib on his list,” Dos Anjos said.

Daniel Cormier Has Been Accused Of Bias In The Past

This isn’t the first time that Cormier has been roasted for his opinions by UFC fighters. Since making the move from the Octagon to the broadcast booth, fighters such as Dos Anjos and former interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje have come out and criticized Cormier for his alleged favoritism during commentary.

Cormier and Holloway, in particular, are known to have a close relationship outside of competition. He also was accused of not calling Makhachev’s recent win over Dan Hooker at UFC 267 in an objective manner.

Diaz and McGregor, one of the names on Cormier’s list, have had an infamous rivalry for years. It’s not a surprise to many that Diaz would have a problem with McGregor being included in a striking list and not himself.

Cormier remains one of the most prominent voices in MMA media today and will inevitably continue to ruffle the feathers of the fighters over time.

A re-match of a no-decision from earlier this year has been added to the upcoming UFC 263 card, as middleweights Eryk Anders and Darren Stewart are ready to settle the score from their first fight.

The UFC made the fight announcement earlier today just a month away from the pay-per-view card set to take place at Gila River Arena in Arizona.

UFC 263 will feature a stacked main card consisting of Israel Adesanya vs. Marvin Vettori, Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno, and Leon Edwards vs. Nate Diaz. It will be the promotion’s second full-capacity event over the past year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Anders/Stewart rematch surely will entice fans looking to tune in to the card early. In their first fight back at UFC Vegas 21, the fight was ruled a no-decision after Anders landed an illegal knee to a grounded Stewart late in the very first round of the bout.

Also of note, the rematch will be at 205 pounds instead of at 185 pounds, due to the quick turnaround and short notice of the fight booking.

Both fighters enter UFC 263 with plenty to prove. Anders hasn’t earned a win since his split-decision victory over Gerald Meerscheart at UFC Fight Night 161 in October 2019, while Stewart is looking to rebound from a tough split-decision loss to Kevin Holland back at UFC Vegas 11.

During his post-fight interview following the first fight against Stewart, Anders addressed his disappointment in the no-decision in a bout he had been dominating up until that point.

“I sacrificed a lot heading into the fight,” Anders said. ” I had him on the ropes, was winning the fight and in the heat of the moment had a lapse in judgment.”

The rematch between Anders and Stewart has the potential to be an early Fight of the Night candidate at UFC 263, and this is an undercard fight that fans won’t want to miss.
