Footage of an intergender mixed martial arts fight that took place in Russia began to surface across social media yesterday, sparking outrage across social media almost a year on from the most recent high-profile, highly controversial intergender contest.

Video footage of the bout began to surface on the social media platform, Twitter on Friday initially, with the male contestant, who appears to be wearing eye makeup, stopping the female contestant with strikes in the second round to score a knockout victory, via a series of ground strikes.

Intergender fight results in female contestant suffering second ground strikes knockout loss

In the minute-long video, both contestants exchange strikes on the feet before the male secures a takedown via a Judo throw near the cage’s fence, before assuming side control. As the female attempts to land strikes off her back, the male then establishes full mount, before landing a series of ground strikes resulting in a TKO stoppage upon the referee’s intervention.

The promotion that hosted the fights is called MMA-VIP and the card in question featured many freakshow fights, promoted by Marcin Najman.

The first-ever clashes between women and men, in which the controversial “Polish Ken” and “Mua Boy” will appear,” Read the billing of the event on the promotion’s official website.”Each of the fights taking place during the MMA-VIP 3 gala carries an incredible load of emotions that you will not find at other freak-fight events. The organizer and originator of this project, Marcin Najman, is a guarantee of creating a spectacle different than anything you’ve seen so far.

This latest intergender bout, which brings into question how this sort of matchup could even find sanctioning, comes off the back of another rather high-profile intergender bout that also took place in Russia this time last year.

Darina Mazdyuk, a Russian flyweight mixed martial artist competed against Grigory Chistyakov, an over 500lbs male last year in a much-criticized freakshow intergender fight.

On that occasion, Mazdyuk managed to take home a first round knockout victory over Chistyakov, which in turn, earned her a multi-fight deal under the Scott Coker-led, Bellator MMA banner.

The 29-year-old made her promotional debut last weekend at the Bellator 269 event in Moscow, Russia, where she suffered a second round knockout loss via a series of ground strikes against Katarzyna Sadura in her first walk under the promotion’s scrutiny.

The social media star is slated to support his fellow Russian, lightweight contender, Makhachev, who clashes with City Kickboxing favorite, Hooker in a pivotal 155lbs clash, following the removal of former lightweight kingpin, Rafael dos Anjos last month.

Marvin Vettori

Marvin Vettori is back in the winner’s enclosure off the back of a instant classic five round back-and-forth with one-time title challenger, Paulo Costa — besting the Belo Horizonte native with a unanimous decision (48-46, 48-46, 48-46) victory in the main event of UFC Vegas 41.

Headlining in a light heavyweight matchup against the #1 ranked contender, Vettori managed to signifcantly outland his opposition, particularly a floor higher, opting for combinations and a more frequent output over the majority of the 25-minute limit.

For Costa, despite his questionable fight week prior to tonight’s headliner, the Brazilian turned in a hugely impressive and admirable performance over the course of five gruelling rounds — landing a multitude of bone shaking body kicks off a whipping right limit.

Costa was however deducted a point by referee, Jason Herzog despite his protests, having landed an inadvertant eye poke midway through the second round — putting even further onus on him to remove the judges from the equation against the Trento native.

Unable to mitigate the constant pressure of Vettori, as well as uncanny durability, Costa suffered a unanimous decision defeat — falling to his second consecutive loss, while Kings MMA star, Vettori puts himself firmly back into title contention.

Off the back of the victory, Vettori still branded Costa a “c*nt” for the turbulent fight week endured as a result of Costa’ weight-cut fiasco, but admired the Brazilian’s powerful offense. In a tongue-in-cheek comment, the Italian claimed he would buy himself another watch after he had received 20% of Costa’s fight purse.

Below, catch the highlights from an excellent main event tilt between Vettori and Costa.
