Conor McGregor wanted to show fight fans around the world what he’s been up to lately.

It’s been well established by now that the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion is in the middle of some ongoing legal issues.

Just last month during fight week of the UFC 223 pay-per-view event, McGregor and several members of his entourage decided to fly from Ireland to Brooklyn, New York to get revenge on current lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who got into an argument with McGregor’s training partner, Artem Lobov, earlier that week.

This led to McGregor attacking the fighter bus that had Khabib on and he was arrested as a result.

He was charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief. McGregor still has a court date set for June 14th to face his charges.

McGregor has not been seen in the Octagon since at UFC 205 when he won the lightweight title from Eddie Alvarez. McGregor then fought in a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.

McGregor’s status as an active MMA fighter is on hold once again due to his recent arrest. Moving along to the footage, which is the first glimpse of him sparring since his boxing bout, McGregor wanted to show off his skills to his fans.

Since that time from when he competed last, he has stayed in the gym but has only posted photos of it. He uploaded two videos to his Instagram account, one of him striking and a second of him grappling.

As of this writing, McGregor’s Instagram account was having server issues, but fans have already put the footage up on Twitter, which you can see here.

Many fight fans believed that McGregor’s next fight would be against Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title and that could still be the case.

However, the other option could be the rumored rematch with Mayweather inside of the Octagon. Time will tell how this all plays out.

Vitor Belfort is one of a few mixed martial artists to have professional boxing experience. Although he only competed once in the ring, Belfort is well known as one of the most dangerous strikers in the UFC.

Naturally, ‘The Phenom’ was asked about how boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. would fare in MMA following his boxing bout with Conor McGregor in August.

Belfort was quite dismissive of Mayweather’s chances:

“I think he doesn’t have a chance even against the young kids, 15, 14-year-olds. I don’t think he has a chance, no. He has a lot to learn on the ground, kicks. I think it’s an illusion (to say) that happens, unless it’s different rules or a fight in his world.

“With his arms, on his weight, he’s a phenom. Now, involving legs and other things, no chance.”

“There are many (promotions). We have the Russian billionaires, millions of places. The UFC itself. The UFC has a lot of money, they only need to do cards that sell. A fight between me and Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz, bring Randy Couture back. How wouldn’t that sell, the league of legends?”

Mayweather defeated McGregor by TKO in the tenth round after a spirited display from the UFC superstar. The two have bantered back and forth ever since, with talks of a rematch under MMA rules exciting combat fans of both sports.

Belfort, however, clearly doesn’t share that enthusiasm.

Do you agree with Belfort’s assumption about Mayweather’s chances in MMA?

Despite the fact that a potential Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor rematch has yet to be official, it hasn’t stopped oddsmakers to release the early betting odds for the fight.

Mayweather has been teasing for months now that he will make the transition from the world of boxing to the land of MMA. He recently went on record by saying that he plans to submit the paperwork to get an MMA license, which will likely be in Nevada.

The first boxing match between these fighters took place last August in Las Vegas, Nevada and aired live on PPV (pay-per-view) for the low price of $100 for HD and $90 for SD.

As seen in the fight, the UFC champion did show some good things in the ring considering that it was his first outing as a professional. However, he ultimately lost by TKO in the tenth round.

Although McGregor looked good in the first three rounds, he started getting tired as the fight went on. Even McGregor cited patches of fatigue that he needs to overcome. He made it clear by admitting that going 12 rounds was always a challenge for him during training camp.

This rematch wouldn’t take place inside of a boxing ring but instead the Octagon. As a result of this report, which has been making the rounds, the early betting odds have been released.

McGregor has made it perfectly clear in previous interviews that he wants the rematch to happen. The UFC lightweight champion hasn’t competed under the UFC banner since UFC 205 when he beat Eddie Alvarez for the title.

Mayweather has gone on record by stating that this would serve as his retirement fight, which would leave him with a perfect 50-0 pro-boxing record. If this fight does happen then, it wouldn’t impact his boxing record but rather his MMA record.

Westgate released Monday new line betting odds of McGregor as a -1000 favorite and Mayweather at +650. This all means that you would have to bet $10 to win $1 on a McGregor bet. A Mayweather bet of $10 would win $65 if he were to win the fight.

Although Conor McGregor felt as if referee Robert Byrd stopped his Aug. 26 boxing match with Floyd Mayweather a bit early, it was clear that the Irishman was in trouble in the tenth round.

While McGregor said in the aftermath of the bout that he would’ve liked to have hit the canvas before the action was waved off, Mayweather recently said that he was happy with the stoppage because it could’ve been ‘very damaging’:

“He has a career. You know, he still has a career. He’s still young,” Mayweather said on the “Hollywood Unblocked” podcast. … (It could’ve been) very damaging. We have to think about these fighters. Even, like, my uncle Roger. Right now, I just got a call just before I came here. He keeps walking off, wandering off. No one can find him. He ends up in a hospital. So, brain damage – it happens. It happens.”

Continuing on, Mayweather admitted that he trained ‘probably three weeks’ for the fight with McGregor, while also revealing that he was partying in the lead-up to the bout, which took place at the T-Mobile Arena:

“OK, hold on. It’s a catch 22,” Mayweather said. “If I blew him out in the first round, they would have something to say. If we let the fight go on a little longer than expect, they’re going to have something to say. So it’s like, damned if I do, damned if I don’t. If I let it go the distance, they’re going to say something.

“Once again, we’re praising him. We’re not praising me. We’re praising him. Because I’m 40 years old, retired for two years. He’s 28, he’s active. I’m inactive. He’s taller, he’s bigger. Hey may not be stronger. He has a longer reach. He’s taller. He’s bigger. He’s younger. Youth is on his side. I’m just saying, everything on paper links on him. For me to come and be off, and really only train totally, probably three weeks .. and (I was) out every night partying.”
