Conor McGregor continues to assure fans and pundits that he’ll return to the Octagon after taking on Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match on Aug. 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Due to the amount of money he’ll make fighting Mayweather, many have argued that we’ve seen the last of McGregor in the UFC, but the lightweight champion appears to be dead set on continuing his MMA career.

If he does, McGregor feels as if a few options await him in the Octagon, with one being a showdown in Russia with No. 1 contender Khabib Nurmagomedov:

“It’s certainly one of the things I would like to do,” McGregor told MMAjunkie backstage at SSE Arena Wembley. “Whether it’s next, I don’t know. I don’t even know how close the Russia thing is. Whether Khabib can pull his (expletive) together; he missed weight.”

The undefeated Nurmagomedov is undoubtedly one of the best lightweights in the world, but he has had issues with his health and his weight, most recently withdrawing from a scheduled interim title fight with Tony Ferguson at UFC 209 just a day prior due to problems with his weight cut.

As far as other options go, McGregor admitted a trilogy with bitter rival Nate Diaz is still on his mind:

“There’s a few of them in the mix,” McGregor said. “A few of them need to pull their (expletive) together, though, and get interest going and get me interested. Right now I don’t actually see anything.”

“That Diaz trilogy is also on my mind,” he said.

Diaz famously submitted McGregor at UFC 196 back in March 2016 before the Irishman scored a majority decision in the rematch at UFC 202 last August. Diaz hasn’t fought since and it doesn’t appear that he plans to unless a trilogy with McGregor is on the table.

The Irishman, however, feels as if the Stockton native should be ‘thankful’:

“He should really be thankful,” McGregor said. “Before he fought me he was (getting paid) 20,000 to show and 20,000 to win. His 19th fight in the UFC, and he was on 40 grand. Now he’s a multi-millionaire. So, I don’t know why he’s sitting there so bitter. Maybe them smacks he took in that rematch messed with his head a little bit. I hope not, but I think they did.”

What do you expect McGregor to do in the future?

Conor McGregor’s next fight won’t take place in the octagon, as he’s set to meet Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match on Aug. 26, 2017 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Many have given McGregor a slim chance of beating the 49-0 Mayweather, but UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson believes that the Irishman can get the job done by using his ferocity:

“I’m riding with Conor,” Johnson told TMZ. “I think Conor, he can probably get it done sooner if he goes out there being ferocious, but I’m going with Conor. I think Conor’s gonna get the job done.”

As far as McGregor’s future goes, the “Notorious” one has said that he’d like to return to the Octagon before the end of the year, although many have been skeptical of that given how much money he’ll make against Mayweather. In fact, McGregor has said that he could have a future in boxing.

If McGregor does indeed shock Mayweather and continue to compete inside the squared circle, “Mighty Mouse” feels as if he should take on the winner of Sept. 16’s middleweight title showdown between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin:

“It’s hard to say. I’ll tell you what: he ain’t gonna make a big check like that in the UFC,” Johnson said. “Hopefully Conor goes out there and knocks Floyd out, and then he can go ahead and fight the winner of GGG and ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. I’d love to see that.”

What do you make of Johnson’s comments, and who would you like to see McGregor face after Mayweather?

The Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor promotional world tour has been quite entertaining thus far, although the third stop in Brooklyn, which took place yesterday (July 13, 2017), didn’t live up to previous stops in Los Angeles and Toronto.

At one point during the event in New York, Mayweather actually had his body guards form a ‘voltron’ around McGregor, which nearly led to the two sides coming to blows. Speaking after the event at his own press conference, however, the “Notorious” one said it was ‘nothing’:

“Juicehead fools,” McGregor said. “I don’t know, man. I didn’t even see them until they were on top of me. I was like, ‘what?’ and then everybody was pushing and shoving. But, handbags, we call that back where I come from. It means it’s nothing, it’s just handbags. It’s just a term we use.”

Continuing on, McGregor issued a warning to Mayweather and his team. If something like that happens again, the Irishman said that he’ll ‘slap the hell’ out of ‘those f*cking juiceheads’:

“We’re having a good time, but I’ll tell you what, if those f*cking juiceheads [do that again], I’ll slap the hell out of all of them,” McGregor said. “If something like that happens at the next one, something will have to happen.”

Mayweather and McGregor are set to finish off their world tour with one final meeting later today (July 14, 2017) at Wembley Stadium in London. The two will then face off in the squared circle on Aug. 26 live on Showtime pay-per-view (PPV) from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dana White Given ‘Specific Directions’ Regarding May-Mac Stare Downs

Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor met last night (July 13, 2017), continuing to promote their Aug. 26 showdown, which will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada. The only problem, however, was that this stop, which took place in Brooklyn, New York, didn’t live up to the previous stops in Los Angeles and Toronto.

There was a variety of issues with the press conference, but one thing that remained was the intense stare downs between Mayweather and McGregor, and as he has throughout the week, UFC President Dana White was there to separate the two stars.

And according to the UFC boss, he was actually given ‘specific directions’ from Mayweather’s longtime advisor Al Haymon regarding the stare downs:

“Al Haymon gave me specific directions,” White told MMAFighting.com. “To make sure that Conor McGregor does not touch Floyd Mayweather. I’ll be in the middle.”

White and the UFC will certainly make a large amount of money after Mayweather vs. McGregor is all said and done, but that doesn’t mean the promotion will continue to actively promote boxing fights. White admitted that he approved this event specifically for McGregor, although he left the door open for the future as well:

“This is for Conor,” White said. “Listen, are we gonna make money? We’re absolutely gonna make money. We’re gonna make money, those guys are gonna make money. But at the end of the day, the only reason why I even considered doing this is for Conor.

“I don’t want to say I’d never do it again, because I said I’d never do it. So, I don’t know. Obviously we’ll see how this whole thing plays out in the end and where we end up when it’s over.”

What did you make of the press conference held in Brooklyn, and what are you hoping for when the show roles into London later today?

Showtime Exec Responds To Conor McGregor’s Presser Comments

Yesterday (July 12, 2017), Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor faced off in Toronto, Canada on the second stop of a four day world tour to promote their Aug. 26 boxing match.

McGregor once again spoke before Mayweather, and as expected, he didn’t hold back. In fact, the “Notorious” one even called out Showtime executive Stephen Espinoza. The Irishman believes Showtime shut his microphone off in Los Angeles earlier this week, and he took his frustrations out on Espinoza, calling him a ‘weasel’ and a ‘b*tch’.

Speaking to MMAFighting.com after the event, Espinoza admitted that he was a bit surprised by McGregor’s comments:

“I’m not sure whether it’s part of the show,” Espinoza said. “I’m not sure how much is a put on. It seemed more than that. It certainly wasn’t a wink and a nod. And it wasn’t backstage saying, ‘Hey, I’m doing it for the good of the show.’ The reality is you see what some athletes — whether combat sports or otherwise — the need to invent enemies and invent opponents to motivate. He’s obviously got that in Floyd. If this is part of his process of imagining the world against him and motivating himself, then that’s his his process.

“I’m a big boy. It’s certainly not somebody that has come after me as a network. It did take me a little bit by surprise, but it’s part of the entertainment value of the McGregor business.”

Espinoza then said Showtime wouldn’t attempt to discuss the issue with McGregor or his team, but he did say that he still has multiple opportunities to respond if need be:

“I don’t think so,” Espinoza said. “He’s a grown adult, I’m a grown adult. If that’s the way he wants to conduct himself, we as the network or me personally are not gonna change it. It’s one of the things that you appreciate Floyd for. Floyd certainly has his flaws like we all do, but there’s always been a sense of professionalism in everything he’s done. That isn’t always the case with some of his opponents.”

“I’d like to sleep on it, but it took me by surprise,” he said. “At the end of the day, I’m a big boy and I still got two more opportunities to respond if I need to.”

What do you make of the situation?

Yesterday (July 11, 2017), Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor met face-to-face for the first time in Los Angeles to promote their upcoming Aug. 26 boxing match.

To no surprise, the trash talk was evident, but the back-and-forth banter between the two stars that fans had been hoping for was lacking, and that was due mainly in part to McGregor’s microphone being shut off after he tried to respond to Mayweather.

Showtime, who will promote the event on pay-per-view, released a statement (Via MMAFighting.com) soon after the event claiming that the network did McGregor’s microphone was not shut off:

“At no point did Showtime or event productions cut any microphones intentionally during Tuesday’s kickoff event in Los Angeles. The point of this world tour is to let these superstars interact with the fans and with each other. Cutting their mics would go against our goal of delivering these fighters to the masses and letting their charismatic and entertaining personalities take center stage.”

Today (July 12, 2017), Mayweather and McGregor once again met, this time in Toronto, Canada. And unlike yesterday, McGregor had no problem speaking when he pleased, and he didn’t hold back with his mic time.

In fact, he walked right up to Stepehen Espinoza and unleashed on the Showtime executive:

“While we’re at it, f*ck Showtime too,” McGregor said. “You little weasel. Look at you you little f*cking weasel, I can see it in your eyes, you’re a f*cking bitch. Cut my mic off? Cut the champ’s mic off? Hell no. You f*cking weasel.”

The “Notorious” one continued on, claiming that Showtime was trying to catch him ‘off guard’:

“They’re trying to set me up at every turn out here,” McGregor said. “They’re trying to catch me off guard. … There is nothing they can do to faze me. Twenty-eight years of age, I’m getting fight checks and promoter checks. When Floyd was 28, he was on Oscar De La Hoya’s undercard.”

What did you make of round two of the Mayweather vs. McGregor world tour?
