Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather was able to get a victory over Mikuru Asakura via TKO in the second round of their exhibition boxing match.

Floyd Mayweather put on a showcase, showing why he is considered the best defensive boxer of all time. Asakura would throw a flurry of punches a few times, bit wasn’t able to land anything significant. Mayweather’s offensive output was also minimal, landing a few body shots and dipping out quickly. The first round was a fairly even round.

Mayweather opened the round pushing forward, and was able to land a huge right hand. Asakura tried answering back with a few shots of his own, but Mayweather’s defense was too quick. Mayweather pushed forward and landed another huge right, but Asakura landed a few high shots on Mayweather. Conor McGregor shoots down the possibility of another boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and himself.

‘Money’ was adamant that he and McGregor would meet in the ring once again, but it seems as if McGregor isn’t having it. Mayweather was debating on whether the fight would be an exhibition match or a professional bout, like the first match between the two was. Mayweather walked out of the match with his perfect record in tact, but McGregor did look good in a few of their exchanges. It was McGregor’s first boxing match of his career, although he curated his legendary status in the UFC with his excellent boxing.

Mayweather claimed that he was looking to take fights against YouTubers, and fighters like McGregor. He threw shade at McGregor by saying he doesn’t hit hard and he wouldn’t take much damage in a match with him.

McGregor ended up walking away from that bout with Mayweather with 130 million dollars in his bank account and helped land him on the list of richest athletes in the world. Just off that money, McGregor went on to invest and sell his own whiskey, which is constantly being advertised whenever there is a fight.

Conor McGregor just had two words for the possibility of a rematch between Mayweather

“Not interested” McGregor commented under a post on Instagram.

McGregor has been training for another MMA comeback. In his last match against Dustin Poirier, the legendary fighter broke his leg and he has been out of commission since. McGregor’s stance proves he is “sticking to his guns”, and preparing to make another run in the UFC. McGregor fighting Mayweather may have been the best thing for him financially, but his MMA career took a bit of a dip due to his inactivity.

McGregor’s best bet is to come back, get a few tune up fights against tough, but not elite opponents. This way McGregor can get back to his dominant ways.

Undefeated former multiple-time boxing world champion, Floyd Mayweather, has claimed that negotiations are in the final stage for a potential rematch against former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor next year – potentially in both a professional, or an exhibition matchup.

First sharing the squared circle in a much-anticipated clash back in August 2017, Mayweather and McGregor headlined a T-Mobile Arena event over the course of 12 scheduled rounds, with Mayweather improving to 50-0 professionally with an eventual tenth round standing TKO win against the Dubliner.

In the time since, however, the duo have been linked with a potential rematch in both professional boxing and professional mixed martial arts, however, recent claims that a rematch was on the cards for next year, was quashed by UFC president, Dana White who cast the re-run into doubt.

Floyd Mayweather claims a rematch with Conor McGregor is in the works

However, Mayweather has since claimed that a second matchup with McGregor is brewing in the background, with negotiations in the final stages for either an exhibition or professional clash in 2023.

“Floyd Mayweather has now declared that a Conor McGregor rematch is in final negotiations to potentially take place in 2023,” Michael Benson tweeted. “He (Floyd Mayweather) said: “We don’t know if it’s going to be an exhibition or a real fight, but there’s been talks of both. I would prefer an exhibition.””

Speaking with The Daily Mail, Mayweather also poked fun at McGregor’s power comparing his stature, to that of a YouTuber amid a recent influx into the sport.

“I’m not into fights where I’m going to take any real punishment,” Floyd Mayweather explained. “So guys like Conor McGregor and guys that don’t really hit hard such as YouTubers, I don’t really mind colliding with those individuals, but nothing where I’m going to harm myself.”

Set for his next exhibition bout following a recent Abu Dhabi, UAE showdown against former training partner, Don Moore, Mayweather is scheduled to face Mikuru Asakura later this month under the Rizin FF banner.

Floyd Mayweather is looking for more exhibition fights against YouTube celebs. The retired boxer has his eyes on YouTuber Deji Olatunji who is the brother of KSI and is 1-3 in the ring.

The 50-0 former world champion boxer Floyd Mayweather is reportedly looking to fight Deji in Dubai in November in an exhibition bout. Since officially retiring ‘Money’ has faced fighters such as kickboxing star Tenshin Nasukawa, former UFC Champion Conor McGregor, YouTuber Logan Paul, and others. Now, he is targeting Deji.

Deji is one of the most influential UK social media creators with over 10 million followers on YouTube alone. Earlier this year, Deji was able to earn his first victory in the ring when he stopped Fousey via TKO. Fousey is also a YouTuber. At this same event, named MF & Dazn X Series 1, Deji’s brother KSI boxed and won against two individuals on the same night.

This bout will add to ‘Money’ Mayweather’s busy upcoming schedule. The 45-year-old boxer earned a recent win against his former sparring partner Don Moore in May of this year. The US-born athlete will also be facing RIZIN superstar Mikurua Asakura on September 25. Additionally, Floyd Mayweather will now be looking to add another exhibition match, facing Deji in November.

Mikurua Asakura is a former Rizin Featherweight Champion and has won half of his MMA fights by way of KO/TKO. This fighter has no professional boxing experience.

Floyd Mayweather vs Deji reaction

Most combat sports fans seem unimpressed with the Floyd Mayweather vs Deji matchup. On the KSI Subreddit, user ‘TheDavinci1998’ commented:

“What are we expecting here realistically? Logan won 1 round out of 12 against Floyd if we’re feeling generous and he’s objectively better than Deji. Given Deji’s stamina, I think it is not going to be longer than 8 rounds and he won’t be able to have his own.”

User oOzonee added:

“That’s the most boring thing ever. At least Logan could potentially knock him out considering how big he is. Deji vs Floyd is a waste of time and I doubt people actually care. I would care more if he fought Salt Papi or Joe Weller.”

On Twitter, user Osgood said:

“Deji Mayweather would literally be the DUMEBST fight of all time. Have they mistaked Deji as someone else? At least with Logan hes a big guy and okay MAYBE in some other universe he could KO floyd. But DEJI!?!? They could fight 10 matches in a night and Floyds winning all 10 EASY.”

The fight announcement story was initially reported by Mirror Fighting.
