PFL on signing UFC veteran Francis Ngannou It's all positive

Eddie Hearn says he’d love to work with Francis Ngannou and arrange some boxing matches but doesn’t believe his skills would translate very well against boxing’s heavyweight elite.

Famed boxing promoter Hearn has been around forever in the sport and has nurtured Anthony Joshua’s career as a promoter since 2013 when the famed UK boxer Joshua first made his transition over from Olympic boxing.

Hearn believes he could do exciting things with Ngannou in the sport, and a match between ‘The Predator’ and ‘AJ’ could be thrilling and give Ngannou that big-money boxing fight he’s been wanting so badly.

Ngannou has made waves as perhaps the biggest MMA free agent in history. He refused to re-sign with the UFC, forfeited his heavyweight title, and has since been searching for bigger and better opportunities. He’s got his eye set on either the PFL or ONE FC when it comes to MMA, but before he signs, Francis Ngannou still desperately wants to compete in boxing against the current greats of the sport.

Eddie Hearn is doubtful that Francis Ngannou’s skills would translate well into boxing

“Personally, you cannot in a million years, with Francis Ngannou’s ability in boxing and pedigree in boxing, go in and compete technically, skill-wise — not just with AJ, but with any top-20 heavyweight in the world,” Hearn began, speaking on The MMA Hour. “But in that division, the difference is, what you can do is you could knock someone out. So it doesn’t matter whether Francis fights Anthony Joshua — Tyson Fury, I agree with you, horrible fight for Francis Ngannou because he’d he just poke [Ngannou] around — Deontay Wilder, Dillian Whyte, Derek Chisora, Jermaine Franklin; he has no chance against those guys, other than to be aggressive, trade up, and catch someone clean and take him out.”

“So I think that you are correct in your statement, in that … people would give fighters a much better chance against AJ having watched that performance. In your world, that translates to Francis Ngannou,” Hearn continued (H/T MMA Fighting). “And why not? I don’t feel like it’s a fight that’s going to continue the development of Anthony Joshua under his new trainer, but I’d [recently] done lunch with Francis Ngannou. You know his story. I was completely gobsmacked by the story of this man. We sat for two hours, and I was just listening to just the most remarkable — I mean, how this isn’t a film, I have no idea. Unbelievable.”

Eddie Hearn is eager to make money off of Francis Ngannou

It’s obvious Eddie Hearn would love to make millions off of Ngannou, and the boxing promoter even began to talk about turning his story into some Hollywood blockbuster.

“I’m thinking, ‘Please let me go to Hollywood now with you and sell this film.’ People need to be educated about what that man has been through and his story to get to where he’s got to. I found him fascinating. Lovely guy, lovely guy, and I’d love to do something.”

In Hearn’s defense, ‘The Predator’ does have one of the most remarkable stories in MMA. Commenting on it in this article wouldn’t nearly do it justice, so don’t be afraid to do some research and read up on it. Let’s just say Francis Ngannou is an incredible human. The things he’s gone through to get where he’s at today will stand the test of time. A movie should be made about his life, but that might not even do the story justice. It could even require a short series about it of hour-long episodes even to get close to telling it fairly. It wouldn’t be surprising if, a decade from now, he’s considered a beloved combat sports legend similar to Mike Tyson.

As far as boxing goes, Eddie Hearn is eager to get Ngannou in there with anybody and everybody. “Dillian Whyte. Otto Wallin. Joe Joyce is another big fight. It’s a tough fight, but who knows,” Hearn said. “But I just feel that if we’re going to go into a Fury or Wilder, which is inevitable, I just want him to go in with the best chance that he can have. And I just feel that, right now, he’s not at the optimum level he could be to go into that fight.”

“He (Anthony Joshua) would still go into them, and I still give him a chance in those fights. I believe he could win those fights. But I would just like to see him firing and going into those fights. And what I saw (against Franklin) wasn’t AJ firing on all cylinders.”

Who would you want to see Francis Ngannou box if it ever happens, or would you just prefer him to re-sign with the UFC?

Ex-UFC kingpin Francis Ngannou urged to make ONE Championship move: ‘He’s conquered the West’

Francis Ngannou

Arjan Bhullar is optimistic and hopeful that former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou might join ONE FC.

While certainly a move that would cause waves in the industry, it’s still all up in the air as to what Ngannou decides to do with his career. The former UFC heavyweight champion was on top of the world after defeating Stipe Miocic in their highly anticipated rematch at UFC 260 and besting his friend and former training partner Ciryl Gane at UFC 270.

‘The Predator’ made the decision not to resign with the UFC and has since been taking a break from the sport. While potential fights between Ngannou and the likes of Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder have emerged, no concrete evidence of Ngannou’s next fight has revealed itself at the time of the writing of this article.

That leaves the world in a precarious situation. One of the greatest heavyweights of our era is a free agent and does not seem to be willing to budge anytime soon as far as re-signing with the UFC goes.

Arjan Bhullar hopeful Francis Ngannou signs with ONE FC

“He’s (Francis Ngannou) conquered the West. Let’s bring him out to the East. I have no problem with this,” Arjan Bhullar began (H/T MMA NEWS). “People are scared of him as well, but if you’re a fighter and you’re a champion, it doesn’t matter who it is. You step up,” He continued.

“That’s what a champion does, win, lose, or draw. And I have never run away from a fight. I have never shied away. I’ve lost, but I am not that guy. There’s no one that can say Arjan Bhullar didn’t step up. I might win, I might lose, but I will always step on that line, I will always sign the contract. I’m a man at the end of the day.”

“They’re nuclear bombs, I get that, but if you have a nuclear bomb and you can’t land it, what are you gonna do?” Bhullar declared. “Same thing with Anatoly. If your delivery system isn’t there to land a bomb, you can sit at home with your bomb. It means nothing. I don’t get hit. I’ve got that grappling.”

Defending the title against Anatoly Malykhin after several cancellations of the fight, it’s unclear whether or not Bhullar will even be the ONE FC heavyweight champ by the time Ngannou joins the organization if ‘The Predator’ ever even decides to do so.

Regardless, a bout between the two men would sure be an insane banger and a fight fans would gladly pay to see. It’s still unclear as to what Francis Ngannou’s plans are, but right now, it is true everything leads to ‘The Predator’ hoping for a big-money boxing match against the current stars of that sport.

Francis Ngannou has said the PFL or ONE FC could very well be his two options when it comes to MMA but that still leaves things very much in the air in terms of his future.

Dana White no to UFC return for Francis Ngannou he is impossible to deal with

UFC president, Dana White has shut down rumors and calls of a potential comeback to the organization for former undisputed heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou – claming the Batié knockout artist is “impossible” to deal with.

Ngannou, a former undisputed heavyweight champion under the banner of the promotion, departed the UFC back in January of this year following the completion of his contractual obligations in December of last year.

The Cameroonian had most recently featured in the main event of UFC 270 back in January of last year against then-interim champion, Ciryl Gane successfully unifying the titles in a unanimous decision victory over the Frenchman in Anaheim, California.

Departing the promotion following his stripping of his undisputed champion status in January, and removal from the official heavyweight rankings, Ngannou has yet to return to combat sports since his departure.

Linked with a slew of potential boxing matches against the likes of former champions, Anthony Joshua, and Deontay Wilder – decorated Tiger Muay Thai coach, John Hutchinson linked the Cameroonian with a move to Singapore promotion, ONE Championship earlier this week.

However, the likes of former UFC middleweight champion, Michael Bisping, and former title challenger, Chael Sonnen have urged Ngannou to explore a potential cap-in-hand return to the UFC for Ngannou – a suggestion White himself has axed.

“No,” Dana White said of a UFC return for Francis Ngannou on The Pat McAfee Show. “We worked with this guy [Francis Ngannou] for two years, we tried to get him a fight. He’s absolutely impossible to deal with. He’s – no, he’ll never be in the UFC again.”

“So, he made his decision – we worked hard, man,” White continued. “One of my guys, Hunter Campbell [Chief Business Officer], who works for me, must have done 75 dinners with his guy [Ngannou], trying to get him on board. We offered him a lot of money, showed him nothing but respect. We wanted to keep him, and that ship has sailed.”

A revered knockout artist, Ngannou minted himself as the undisputed heavyweight titleholder in a stunning rematch win over Stipe Miocic – finishing the Ohio veteran with a thunderous second round KO at the UFC Apex facility in March 2021.

Former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou has been tipped to make a move to SIngapore-based mixed martial arts promotion, ONE Championship next – in the form of a potential title fight opposite the undefeated two-weight champion, Anatoly Malykhin.

Ngannou, a former undisputed heavyweight champion under the banner of the UFC, has been sidelined from active competition since headlining UFC 270 back in January of last year against former interim champion, Ciryl Gane – defeating the latter in a unanimous decision title unification victory.

In the time since, Francis Ngannou’s contractual obligations with the promotion came to an end back in December of last year, officially departing the UFC in January of this year.

In the time since, the Cameroonian knockout artist has been linked with a slew of potential ventures next – including a move to professional boxing against the likes of Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua.

However, the Batié native confirmed that he was in discussions to potentially link up with either the PFL (Professional Fighters League) or the aforenoted, ONE Championship next.

And according to the aforenoted, Malykhin’s coach, boxing phenom, John Hutchinson, a contract is “pending” for Francis Ngannou to fight the Russian.

“When the little soft bum Arjan (Bhullar) comes out of hiding, we promise it will be over very fast in a powerful blink of a (sic) eye,” Hutchinson posted on Instagram. “Making room faster than ever for the real fight to happen. @francisngannou you should of stayed where your (sic) at when you had the chance. Your (sic) about to face the biggest challenge @anmalykhin. Contract pending let’s see who’s (sic) the undisputed king is.” (H/T MMA Mania

Francis Ngannou and Alexander Volkanovski went absolutely wild when their close friend Israel Adesanya knocked out Alex Pereira at UFC 287.

The knockout was extremely sudden and electrifying. Adesanya had his back to the cage and was getting lit up by bombs from Pereira when suddenly, ‘The Last Stylebender’ unleashed a perfectly timed shovel hook with his left and followed it up with a laser beam of a right hand.

This staggered ‘Poatan’, and Adesanya would fake with his left before connecting with another right hook that sent Pereira unconscious and crashing to the canvas. For good measure, ‘The Last Stylebender’ connected with a final nuclear warhead of a hammer fist to well and truly make sure the fight was indeed finished.

This would make Adesanya and Pereira 1-1 in MMA and 3-1 in all, as Poatan has two notorious victories over Adesanya from their kickboxing days and also defeated ‘The Last Stylebender’ upon their first fateful meeting inside the cage at UFC 281.

PFL on signing UFC veteran Francis Ngannou It's all positive

PFL (Professional Fighter’s League) president and former kickboxing star, Ray Sefo has commented on the promotion’s chances of agreeing a deal to sign former undisputed UFC heavyweight titleholder, Francis Ngannou, claiming talks between the two parties have all been “positive”.

Ngannou, a former undisputed heavyweight champion under the banner of the UFC, departed the organization back in January of this year officially, after his contractual obligations with the promotion expired back in December of last year.

The Batié native has, however, been linked with a move to another mixed martial arts banner following his Octagon exit, Cameroon knockout artist, Ngannou has welcomed the opportunity to sign with the aforenoted, PFL, as well as the ONE Championship promotion in Singapore – claiming both are the current frontrunners for his signature.

Furthermore, the 36-year-old has stressed his interest in competing in professional boxing next, and has been linked with a slew of matchups, against the likes of Anthony Joshua, Andy Ruiz Jr., Tyson Fury – and most notably, former WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder.

“That is correct, we’ve had a few meetings with Francis (Ngannou) and those discussions are still going on,” Ray Sefo told MMA Junkie during a recent interview. “Obviously, there’s a few other things he also wants to pursue which is boxing and he knows where we stand with it, too. So, you know, it’s all positive should I say, right?”

In the midst of a six-fight undefeated run professionally, Francis Ngannou most recently unified the heavyweight titles with a unanimous decision win over former interim titleholder, Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 back in January of last year.

In prior victories, Francis Ngannou has landed consecutive wins over Curtis Blaydes, Cain Velasquez, Junior dos Santos, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, and in his heavyweight championship coronation, defeated Stipe Miocic with a second round knockout back in March 2021.
