Conor McGregor has fired back at Michael Bisping after the former middleweight champion threw shade on the Irishman’s acting career.

Conor McGregor has ventured into different avenues since being side-lined from the devastating injury he suffered at UFC 264. Most recently the former two-division champion has undertaken a career in acting by joining Jake Gyllenhaal in the remake of Road House.

As can be expected of McGregor, he was quick to lay claim that he is the best fighter to transition into the world of TV despite this being set to be his first appearance in a film.

In a since-deleted tweet, McGregor stated that he is the ‘Mac Daddy’ of acting and now other fighters aiming to enter the entertainment world are simply trying to follow in his footsteps.

“All these little twerps wanna be actors now,” Conor McGregor stated.

“Little twerps, There’s Only One Mac Daddy. Bad to the bone but with a good heart. Action with Jake [Gyllenhaal] or Rom com with Sarah Jessica [Parker].

“Bisping, member that show you were in. Ye me neither.”

Having seen what McGregor claimed, Bisping was quick to respond in what he says was a light-hearted manner to the ‘Notorious’ comments over on his YouTube channel via the ‘Believe You Me’ podcast.

“He’s all excited, he’s had his first beer and he’s doing a big show with Jake Gyllenhaal, god bless him. Good for f***ing you. Well done. Why have you gotta throw shade my way? I don’t get it,” Bisping said.

“Just make sure you’ve got your bodyguards around you the next time you come and wanna talk some s***. You little f***.” (Transcribed by TalkSport)

Conor McGregor raises the stakes in a heated debate with Michael Bisping

Although Bisping said everything he stated in regard to McGregor should be taken in a light-hearted manner it appears the Irishman has done anything but that.  Conor McGregor once again responded in a series of now-deleted tweets threatening Michael Bisping should he continue to mention his name.

“Bisping you’ll do f*** all you little sprinter I’ll cave your head in.”

McGregor added to his initial response through a voice note which has since been deleted.

“Do you want to go to war, man, yeah? Do you want to go to f****** war? We’ll go to war with you, yeah?”

“Security. You little sausage of a thing. I’ll have security set you up … when you’re in Vegas again, pal.

“Keep my name out of your f****** mouth again or any type of threatening behaviour, or I’ll walk through your front door. You little dope.

“[Go] back where you belong you little clown, you little sprinter.” (Transcribed by MMAFighting)

It is extremely likely that these two will cross paths in the future with Bisping firmly cemented as part of the UFC broadcast team and McGregor aiming to return to the octagon in the early stages of 2023. Only then we will be able to see just how serious this feud could become.

Mark O. Madsen

Undefeated UFC lightweight and former Olympic wrestler Mark O. Madsen has reacted to parallels being drawn between him and former UFC 155lb champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The reasons for the comparisons to Khabib Nurmagomedov are clear. Mark O. Madsen is an elite wrestler, with a storied career outside the UFC. He is still undefeated and competes at 155lbs – Khabib’s old stomping ground.

Admittedly, Madsen is yet to test himself against the top 15 of the division, but the Dane is making his way up towards the rankings. Having already picked up wins over Clay Guida, Vinc Pichel, Danilo Belluardo and Austin Hubbard, Madsen will now square off against Drakkar Klose, on the undercard of UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Allen.

However, in a recent interview with LowKickMMA, Madsen stated that whilst flattered by the comparisons to Khabib, his focus is on carving out his own legacy, rather than replicating that of a fellow fighter. When asked his thoughts on the matter, ‘The Olympian’ had the following to say:

“I’m gonna be the only Mark O. Madsen in the UFC. I do take it as a compliment, being compared to Khabib. Khabib is, in my book – he’s the GOAT. Amazing fighter, coming from a wrestling background. The things he’s done in the sport is amazing. I respect Khabib, I respect his team. So let’s put that aside. I’m gonna be the next Mark O. Madsen. I’m gonna be the only Mark O. Madsen in the UFC.”

Mark O. Madsen on the rise of MMA in Denmark

MMA has taken slightly longer to be accepted in Europe compared to how it has been received in America, but with the recent legalization of the sport in France, as well as the surge of European talent that has emerged over the past few years, MMA is quickly becoming a mainstream sport.

Mark O. Madsen’s home country of Denmark is a perfect example of this. Whilst MMA was once a niche sport that had an extremely following, fighters like Madsen have helped popularise it. He had the following to say on the topic:

“Well, I’m proud of being a frontrunner, in some sense. I mean, we have a lot of amazing Danish fighters, fighting in the UFC, fighting in Bellator. MMA in Denmark has been growing over the years and it’s always fun to be part of something successful. Something that is growing, something that is developing into – let’s call it ‘more mainstream.’ MMA in Denmark has been a little niche for a long while, but it’s becoming more mainstream now, which is a very cool thing to be a part of.”

Lyoto Machida vs. Shogun Rua 3 reportedly in the works for UFC 283 in Brazil

A trilogy bout between two Brazilian legends of the sport could be set to take place at UFC 283, as early reports of a fight between Lyoto Machida and Shogun Rua begin to surface.

Since the winter of 2018, former UFC middleweight champion Lyoto Machida has been competing for Bellator MMA, where he amassed a record of 2-4. ‘The Dragon’ started strong, picking up back-to-back wins over Rafael Carvalho and Chael Sonnen. However, the tail end of his time with Bellator saw him drop four consecutive losses, culminating with a brutal round one KO loss to Fabian Edwards.

The loss to Edwards was the last on Lyoto Machida’s Bellator contract, leaving him free to test the open market. Whilst many called for the now 44 years old Machida to hang up the gloves, it appears that he may be returning to the premier MMA promotion for one final fight.

Jorge Guimaraes, Machida’s manager, reached out to the UFC after hearing that the promotion was making the trip out to Brazil in early 2023. Guimaraes pitched a trilogy bout between Lyoto Machida and Shogun Rua, seemingly receiving a positive response from the UFC.

“When I heard ‘Shogun was doing his last fight at UFC Rio, I immediately called (UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell) offering Lyoto for a trilogy,” Guimaraes said to Sherdog. “Hunter told me they initially were planning on someone like Tyson Pedro to fight Shogun, but he liked the idea and told me he was going to talk to Dana [White] about it. I have no doubt the Brazilian audience would love that matchup. Two champions, two legends of the sport, one win for each, doing their rubber match on the night of both of their retirement fights. Shogun is already a Hall of Famer, Lyoto also deserves that.” (H/T/ BJ PENN)

Machida defended his UFC middleweight title against Shogun in 2009. ‘The Dragon’ defeated his countryman via unanimous decision. However, the fight would be immediately rebooked, this time with a very different result. Rua knocked Machida out in the first round.

With both fighters now in the twilight of their careers, one final bout in front of a Brazilian crowd, to end this trilogy, makes a lot of sense.

A fourth bout between Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno is also reportedly set to take place on this card. Also in the mix are the following fights:

Brad Tavares vs. Gregory Rodrigues

Gabriel Bonfim vs. Mounir Lazzez

Josiane Nunes vs. Zarah Fairn

In the main event of ONE 161, No. 1 ranked contender Tawanchai PK. Saenchai defeated featherweight Muay Thai champion Petchmorakot Petchyindee to capture his first ONE world championship on Friday.

Much of the opening round was a feeling-out process with both fighters utilizing kicks to keep a safe distance and establish their timing. Both fighters began to throw leather in the closing seconds of the first with Petchmorakot landing a solid left to the chin of Tawanchai. From there, the pace picked up with both fighters waging full-on warfare by the time the third round began. It was there that the defending champion began to find his timing and started to let his hands go.

Going into the championship rounds, Petchmorakot appeared to take over by bringing relentless pressure to the challenger. After four rounds of action, the contest looked as even as it gets. Petchmorakot’s pressure continued, but Tawanchai was able to stay out of danger with his solid footwork and crisp counterstriking. With the fifth round essentially a coin flip, it was anyone’s guess as to who would come out on top on the judges’ scorecards.

In the end, Tawanchai was awarded the victory and the title by a razor-thin margin, scoring a split decision victory over Petchmorakot.

Undefeated UFC lightweight Mark O. Madsen has given his take on the upcoming 155lb title fight between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev at UFC 280.

Mark O. Madsen is currently set to take on Drakkar Klose at UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Allen. Following Klose’s victory over Brandon Jenkins at UFC on ESPN 34, he took to the mic, calling ‘The Olympian’ out. Now Klose has the fight he wanted, although Madsen clearly believes that his now upcoming opponent has bitten off far more than he can chew, having vowed to retire Klose.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with LowKickMMA, in partnership with VegasInsider, Mark O. Madsen had the following to say about his opponent.

“I definitely think Drakkar Klose should have called someone else out. The thing is with callouts – it’s a funny thing, because the mental aspect in it is one guy is calling another guy out, because he thinks he’s better than the other fighter. Me personally, I love callouts, because that triggers something inside me. That puts a little extra in there. I think Drakkar made a mistake and I’m gonna prove that on October 29th. I’m gonna go out there and I’m gonna knock his head out, and retire this guy. Quite simple.”

Mark O. Madsen gives his prediction for Charles Oliveira vs. Islam Makhachev

Should Madsen defeat Klose, he will likely be on the fringes of the top 15 of the lightweight division. 155lbs has been a marquee weight class for some time now, and at UFC 280, a new champion will be decided.

Former title holder Charles Oliveira will take on Islam Makhachev in one of the most anticipated bouts of the year. Madsen was confident in his assessment of who would come out on top in this eclectic title fight. He stated:

“I see Islam Makhachev as the new UFC champ. One hundred percent. I saw Michael Chandler say online that Islam – I think he said he hadn’t earned it, or that he hadn’t fought anybody good. I think that’s bulls**t number one. Islam Makhachev, I even had the chance to train with him, he’s the real deal. I see him as the new UFC champion. And I think he’s gonna hold that belt for a while, to be honest.”
