Two explosive matchups have been added to UFC Fight Night: Pittsburgh this week.
Surging “Platinum” Mike Perry is set to take on Thiago Alves while Hector Lombard will fight Anthony Smith, according to UFC officials.
The welterweight-heavy card will take place on September 16 on the same night as boxing mega-fight between Carnell Álvarez and Gennady Golovkin.
Both fights were initially booked for an event on August 19, however that card was scrapped entirely due to Mayweather vs McGregor taking place just days later.
Perry will look to build off of a brutal knockout over Jake Ellenberger in April against Thiago Alves, who will look to pick up his second win in a row after returning to welterweight following a short stint at 155 pounds.
Lombard is returning from a disappointing three fight losing streak to take on Anthony Smith. Smith is currently riding a two-fight winning streak, with both victories coming by way of knockout.
No word yet on who will headline the card as of today.

In our co-main event from last night’s (Sun. February 19, 2017) UFC Halifax event, former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks takes on former world Judo champion Hector Lombard.
Both men came into the contest on a losing skid; as Hendricks suffered three-straight defeats in his former championship weight class (missing weight for two), and Lombard came in off two back-to-back knockout losses.
The first round saw a bit of a patient striking battle to kick things off, before Hendricks slipped and Lombard immediately jumped on him to get the back clinch. The Cuban attempted to grind away at ‘Bigg Rig’ but failed to get the fight to the ground. Hendricks was able to separate and the two ended the first round without either man really landing anything significant.
A jab to the nose and body kick landed for Lombard to open the second round, and he followed that up with a nice left hook and a takedown attempt. Lombard kneed Hendricks a little bit too down south in the clinch and the ref put a stop to the action.
Hendricks got rocked after a few big shots from Lombard after we returned from a brief break in action. Lombard was continuously stuffed on his takedown attempts but was repeatedly landing some big shots to the former 170-pound champion’s chin. Hendricks answered back with a few nice knees to end the round.
Lombard opened up the final round with a huge overhand right that Hendricks was able to push through from. Hendricks landed another big knee to the Cuban’s face after a takedown attempt, but was met with another big shot that wobbled him in return. Lombard is able to take Hendricks down but is slipped off rather easily after taking the back due to all the sweat on both men’s body.
The round ended with the two exchanging leg kicks and the judges awarded the contest to Hendricks via unanimous decision.

UFC Fight Night 105 went down tonight (Sunday, February 19, 2017) from the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The main event saw top-ten heavyweights duke it out, as Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis locked horns with Travis “Hapa” Browne.
Browne had a great deal of success with body kicks right out of the gate, hurting Lewis with his first snapping front kick to the gut. Lewis dropped his hands and grimaced on multiple occasions as Browne continued to work the body. He even had to turn his back on several occasions. Browne stayed patient and didn’t charge in for the finish. That ultimately proved his undoing.
Lewis wouldn’t concede kicking range in round two. At the first opportunity, he turned Browne onto the fence and unloaded with a barrage of haymakers. Browne survived but gave up a couple takedowns as he tried to escape close-range fight. After the second takedown, Browne once again got to his feet but was met with more bombs from “The Black Beast”. Browne hit the deck, and Lewis made sure he stayed there, putting him to sleep with one final salvo of cinder-block fists. And as has become his custom, Lewis delivered a gem of a post-fight speech.
In the co-headliner, the newest member of the middleweight division, Johny Hendricks, took on Hector Lombard. Hendricks was able to eke out a back and forth fight with the scarily powerful Lombard. Though he couldn’t get his wrestling going, step-in knees and volumes of leg kicks and punches outscored Lombard’s power punches. An elated Hendricks began his middleweight tenure with a much-needed win.

Swangin' & Bangin' or Hapa?
(Yes, I know Lewis's nickname is 'Black Beast, but I like Swangin' & Bangin' better).

While this was an incredibly high-stakes matchup for the fighters, it wasn’t necessarily a memorable one for the fans.
Both men were tentative in the early goings, but Lombard found success early with his left hand, tagging Hendricks every time they entered and exited the clinch. With both men owning relatively small gas tanks, however, neither was willing to expend much energy, and Hendricks did little to answer Lombard’s sparse-but-efficient offense.
The second round saw Hendricks tease his wrestling early, shooting for a takedown and feinting shots. That opened up new opportunities for Hendricks, but a groin strike by Lombard halted his momentum and resulted in Hendricks being slower and less effective on offense. Lombard took control again from there, but a couple of well-timed knees from Hendricks kept the Cuban from sustaining offense for any length of time.
Lombard looked to assert himself as the dominant fighter by maintaining the center of the cage early. Hendricks avoided taking any serious damage, though, began finding success with his counterpunches and decisively out-landed Lombard in the final frame.
The final horn sounded with the winner unclear to most observers…except for the judges. While a hotly debated split decision seemed like an inevitability, Hendricks wound up taking a unanimous decision to the tune of 30-27, 30-27, 29-28.
To say this is a fortunate break for Hendricks would be a profound understatement.
Since dropping the welterweight title to Robbie Lawler in 2014, Bigg Rigg’s career has been downright miserable at every level. Consistent struggles to make weight have been followed by consistent struggles to perform at a high level in the Octagon. The result has been back-to-back-to-back losses that have left him looking nothing like the man who tore apart the 170-pound division with his dynamite left hand.
With the UFC handing out pink slips like candy on Halloween, there was a strong chance the former champ would have been sent packing with another loss. While the win wasn’t decisive enough to make any sort of “Hendricks is back” declarations, this was easily his best performance in the last two years and should be enough to keep him around in the UFC for a few more fights.
That, unfortunately, isn’t the case with Lombard. Despite the fact the former Olympic judoka has actually looked very solid in his three most recent fights (and very easily could have won all of them with different officials), there is no nice way of packaging a three-fight losing streak.
This decision, despite being a questionable one, could easily punch his ticket back to Bellator. That’s a shame, but WME-IMG’s gallows know no mercy. And looking over the list of recent releases, it’s safe to say they don’t know talent.
