Though Saturday’s Cage Warriors 62 event had to proceed without its headliner, there were more than enough wild moments to make up for it. Case in point: this impressively acrobatic heel-hook that English lightweight Ian Entwistle landed on Liam James just 24 seconds into their bout. Watch as Entwistle dodges a right cross from James and immediately wraps up his opponent’s rear leg, dragging it to the mat and sinking a heel-hook in the blink of an eye. The victory marked Entwistle’s fourth-straight win by submission. Good stuff, mate.
Also on the card, Martin Sheridan challenged Chinzo Machida for Most Violent Knee-KO of the Year. Check out Sheridan’s first-round win over Jordan Desborough after the jump…

Last night’s instance of poor sportsmanship and judgment from Palhares wasn’t his first. As we’ve mentioned earlier today, Palhares was previously suspended by the UFC for doing the exact same thing to Tomasz Drwal back in 2010.
Despite initial reports that Palhares has received a lifetime ban from the organization, MMAFighting.com is reporting that Palhares has simply been “released.”
We’ll keep you up to date as this story continues to develop.

(Props: oneness2004. Fight begins at the 2:40 mark.)
On Friday night, undefeated MMA fighter and CagePotato film criticNick Newell increased his pro record to 6-0, picking up yet another first-round stoppage at XFC 15 in Tampa, Florida. Nick was the aggressor early, slugging opponent Denis Hernandez to the fence and taking him down with relative ease. From there, he softened up Hernandez with ground-and-pound before dropping back into a heel-hook. It’s as surprising as it is painful, and Hernandez is forced to tap. Newell’s attempt at an off-the-cage victory somersault is somewhat less successful, but overall, it’s a great showing from our homeboy. Congrats, Nick.
After the jump: Full results from XFC 15, plus another sick submission from the Ryan Thomas vs. John Kolosci bout.
