Joaquin Buckley has his eyes on an August clash with undefeated Irish standout Ian Garry.

After experiencing some troubles in the middleweight division, Buckey dropped to welterweight, making his divisional debut on May 20 in a Fight Night clash with Andre Fialho. Things couldn’t have gone much better as ‘New Mansa’ scored another highlight-reel-worthy head kick KO in the second round. Back in the win column and feeling better than ever, Buckley is ready to put his skills to the test against fast-rising prospect Ian Garry.

“Yeah, that’s good money, yes sir. Undefeated fighter. You know, Conor McGregor 2.0,” Buckley said in an exclusive interview with LowKick MMA. “He’s got a lot of hype behind him. They love him and he’s a good fighter too. Don’t get it twisted, he’s an excellent fighter, but matches make fights and I think I’m a bad matchup for him.”

Joaquin Buckley is hoping to go toe-to-toe with Garry at UFC 292 in Boston, a city where nearly 23% of the population is of Irish descent. Asked about dealing with the inevitable ‘Bean Town’ boos from a potentially hostile crowd, Buckley said:

“I would love it. Like my boy [Floyd] Mayweather says, ‘They can’t fight for you.’ So it don’t even matter.”

After going 7-0 under the Cage Warriors banner, and capturing the CWFC welterweight title along the way, Ian Garry made his UFC debut in 2021, scoring a first-round knockout against Jordan Williams at UFC 268. Since then, Garry has added another four wins to his record, including back-to-back finishes against Kenan Song and Daniel Rodriguez. Sitting at an impressive 12-0, ‘The Future’ is ready for a step up in competition. Joaquin Buckley hopes to be that step up.

Joaquin Buckley is 6-4 inside the Octagon, though most of his tenure has been spent in the middleweight division.

Ian Garry eyes UFC Dublin main event with Stephen Thompson

Ian Garry has the perfect opponent in mind for the UFC’s inevitable return to Ireland.

‘The Future’ lived up to his moniker once again, scoring a brilliant first-round knockout against Daniel Rodriguez at UFC Charlotte last weekend. It was Garry’s fifth-straight win inside the Octagon. The former Cage Warriors welterweight champion is now 12-0 in his career and has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in the sport. Dubbed by many as the second coming of Conor McGregor, Garry has already laid out a game plan en route to his dream of becoming a UFC champion.

According to Ian Garry, that plan includes a clash in Dublin with perennial contender Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson. Appearing on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, ‘The Future’ suggested that a main event showdown between himself and Thompson in The Emerald Isle would draw in a sell-out crowd.

“Could you imagine me vs. Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson as the main event in Dublin, and stack the card with Irish and European UFC talent from top to bottom?” Garry said. “Wonderboy and I would sell it out, and I believe [Dana White] will bring us back and I believe he’ll make a return to Ireland at some time, early next year, I believe. I’ll put my nation on my back, keep winning.”

Dana White Hopes to Feature Ian Garry on UFC Ireland Card in the Future

UFC President Dana White is all for taking Ian Garry to Ireland, assuming the Irish a** kicker continues his winning ways inside the Octagon.

“You know what he said to us tonight? White said at the UFC Charlotte post-fight press conference. “‘I want to beat all the top guys in the Top 10, I want to beat all the guys in the Top 5, I wanna make sure there’s no doubt or no question that when I fight for the title, that people know I deserve it’. That’s a fun guy, he’s fun,” White said of Garry.

“We have the Irish guy blueprint around here, so we’ll probably take him to Boston or MSG and then eventually Ireland if he keeps doing what he’s doing.”

Undefeated welterweight striker, Ian Machado Garry has been showered in praise following his stunning opening round win over Daniel Rodriguez on the main card of UFC Fight Night Charlotte last night, with social media users claiming the Dubliner is in pure form, what lightweigh prospect, Paddy Pimblett believes he is.

Garry, 25, is likely set to enter the welterweight top-15 rankings come Tuesday next week, stopping the current placeholder, Rodriguez with a stunning first round high-kick and ground strikes knockout in the opening round of their main card clash last night in North Carolina.

The victory came as Ian Machado Garry, a former Cage Warriors titleholder, fifth on the bounce in the promotion, improving him to 12-0 as a professional to boot off the back of triumphs against Jordan Williams, Darian Weeks, Gabe Green, and Kenan Song to boot.

Earning a Performance of the Night bonus for his stunning efforts to become the first to dispatch Californian kickboxer, Rodriguez with strikes last night, Ian Machado Garry called for a showdown with perennial division contender, Neil Magny following his first round stoppage win.

Receiving a slew of props off the back of his first round win last night, Ian Machado Garry – who had predicted a high kick stoppage win over Rodriguez six weeks out from their showdown, saw his performance described as flawless, while others noted how he is, in fact, what polarizing prospect, Pimblett believes he is.

“Ian Garry is what Paddy Pimblett thinks he is,” DovySimuMMA tweeted

“Wow! Very impressive performance for Garry to take out someone as tough as Rodriguez,” Alan Jouban tweeted

Ian Machado Garry lays out six-fight plan to earn UFC title fight

Following his stunning win, Garry revealed he had spoken with UFC brass, including Dana White, Sean Shelby, and Hunter Campbell backstage – where he informed them of his intentions to run through contenders en route to a title siege.

“I was in a little meeting, should we say, with the big boys,” Ian Garry told Megan Olivi. “With Dana, Hunter, and Sean Shelby. And we just spoke about – I said to them, ‘Hey, if you heard about my six fight plan?’ And they said no. I said, ‘I fight two guys in top 15, two guys in top 10, two guys in top 5.’ And I said, ‘Do you wanna know why?’ And he goes, ‘Why?’ ‘It’s because I never want any question marks on my career. So, I am going to grab that. I am going to earn everything and it my way. He said, ‘I love it.”

Ian Garry earned his twelfth straight win on Saturday at UFC Charlotte, securing a first-round technical knockout against No. 15 ranked welterweight contender Daniel Rodriguez.

It was another spectacular showing from the budding Irish contender as Garry faced his toughest test inside the Octagon. With 2:15 left in the first round, Garry unleashed a head kick that connected, rocking ‘D-Rod’ in the process. With his opponent stumbling backward, Garry pursued throwing a series of strikes that sent his opponent to the canvas. Smelling blood in the water, ‘The Future’ turned up the heat and unloaded on Rodriguez with a hearty helping of ground-and-pound strikes forcing the referee to step in and call for the stoppage.

With the victory, Ian Garry made it 12-in-a-row and five straight inside the Octagon. He will likely have a number next to his name come Monday. Daniel Rodriguez has now lost back-to-back bouts, falling to 7-3 under the UFC banner and 17-4 overall.

Undefeated Irish prospect Ian Garry may be partially responsible for Daniel Rodriguez’s struggle to make weight for their scheduled scrap on Saturday.

The UFC will head to Charlotte, NC for a Fight Night event headlined by a heavyweight clash between top-ten-ranked contender Jairzinho Rozenstruik and streaking Brazilian standout Jailton Almeida. Before stepping inside the Octagon, all 22 fighters stepped on the scale for their respective bouts. When it came time for ‘D-Rod’ to weigh in, the California native came in a half-pound overweight, putting their main card matchup in jeopardy and Ian Garry may have been partially to blame.

In a video shared on social media, ‘The Future’ decided to deliver temptation right to Rodriguez’s door the night before weigh-ins. In the clip, which you can see below, Garry is observed leaving a pizza and some weed for his UFC on ABC 4 opponent.

Daniel Rodriguez Made Weight on His Second Attempt Despite Ian Garry’s Prank Pizza

Ian Garry’s prank may have been a little too effective. Fortunately, Rodriguez was able to make weight on his second attempt, keeping their fight from cancelation. Upon hearing Rodriguez’s initial weight, fans immediately began speculating if Garry’s harmless caper actually sabotaged his own fight.

With ‘D-Rod’ now on weight, he will now look to get back into the win column after seeing his four-fight win streak snapped at the hands of Neil Magny in November. That will be no easy task as he’s matched up with Ian Garry. ‘The Future’ has lived up to his moniker thus far, earning 11 straight wins, four under the UFC banner. Garry has scored decision victories over Darian Weeks and Gabe Green inside the Octagon while adding two highlight-reel-worthy knockouts against Jordan Williams and Gabe Green.

If Ian Garry can make it 12-0 on Saturday night, he will likely take Daniel Rodriguez’s No. 15 spot in the welterweight rankings.

Kevin Holland warns Ian Garry ahead of potential clash: ‘Stay far the f*ck away’

Kevin Holland had some strong words of advice for rising welterweight prospect Ian Garry.

‘Trailblazer’ got back into the win column with a highlight-reel-worthy knockout of Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC 287 last weekend. Following his victory, Kevin Holland made an appearance on MMA Junkie Radio to discuss his third-round finish against the Argentinian and what may come next.

“I really don’t feel the need to call too many people out – I mean, at 170,” Holland said. “If anybody at ’85 wants to fight again, we could do it. If anybody who’s ever beat me at 170 wants to do it again, we can do it. Other than that, it’s whoever the organization wants me to fight. If they want to keep giving me people that’s outside of the top 15, I’m cool with that too” (h/t MMA Junkie).

However, there was one man that Kevin Holland wanted to address; streaking Irish standout Ian Garry.

“I seen Ian Garry called my name,” Holland continued. “I think the dude is on a hell of a trajectory. I think he’s doing great things. I think he’s on the way to the top, and if he feels that I’m a name that he needs to help himself to the top, I think he should stay far the f*ck away, because he likes to strike and he does get dropped with a left hook. If you’ve seen my left hook these days, like I said, newfound relationship. It hurts. And the right hand, by time he’s ready to fight, will be crisp.

“I just don’t think it’s a smart fight for Ian Garry right this second. Like I said, maybe one day he’ll be a titleholder and I’ll be a BMF holder, and we can clash it up for big dollars or something like that.”

Ian Garry is 11-0 in his mixed martial career, including four-straight wins inside the Octagon. He’ll look to make it a dozen W’s on May 13 when he squares off with Daniel Rodriguez at a UFC Fight Night card in North Carolina.

Kevin Holland Could Make Another Quick Turnaround

Despite being less than a week removed from his win over Santiago Ponzinibbio, Kevin Holland is ready to get back inside the cage. ‘Trailblazer’ suggested he could return as early as May, noting that a clash with The Ultimate Fighter 15 winner Michael Chiesa could be on the horizon.

“I think May would be really quick, but I think that I would be rightfully so ready for a Chiesa fight if he wanted to step in there in May,” Holland told MMA Junkie Radio. “If not, we could do it after May, or whoever they have lined up for me, whenever they want me to go. It really doesn’t matter. If I get to go soon, awesome. If not, I could wait until slightly after July.”

“… Chiesa was just hot on the mind because he had a chance to fight on the card, didn’t get a chance to fight on the card. I never know what another man’s making, I never know what another man’s doing, I never know if another man has plans with his money that he’s potentially about to make, but I can at least offer a man a chance to get his show money by whooping his f*cking ass. So, that’s the least I can do.”
