It may have provided some entertaining moments and hype-building quips, but overall it’s safe to say the collective combat sports world is glad the four-city, three-country Mayweather vs. McGregor world tour is over.

The media whirlwind hit a high note on Wednesday in Toronto where “The Notorious” received a huge pop from the Canadian crowd as he unleashed all of his best one-liners, which nearly all of hit home with hilarity.

The exact opposite was true of the following day’s stop in Brooklyn, New York, however, where he mockingly addressed accusations of racism earlier in the week with an extremely off-color sexual innuendo before humping the air for his female African American fans:

“Let’s address the race,” McGregor said. “A lot of media seem to be saying I’m against black people. That’s absolutely f*cking ridiculous! Do they not know I’m half black? Yeah, I’m half black from the belly-button down! And just to show that’s squashed, here’s a little present for my beautiful, black, female fans (humps air slowly).”

That scene drew a response from Mayweather, who had previously chose to let McGregor’s supposed racial undertones slide. After the Brooklyn press conference, however, “Money” could no longer keep quiet, and spoke up in support of his diverse team (via MMA Fighting):

“Disrespecting my daughter, disrespecting the mother of my daughter, disrespecting black women, calling black people monkeys is totally disrespectful. I have a diverse team. A diverse staff. And when I was young, I may have said some things I shouldn’t have said because I was young. But you live, you learn and you don’t say those things when you get to a certain age because it’s all about growth and maturity.

“Today, he came out today and did it again…I guess when he gets older he’ll look back and say I probably shouldn’t have said that.”

But “Money” wasn’t squeaky-clean in the whole situation, either, as clapped back at McGregor’s racial comments by making an extremely ill-advised homophobic slur at McGregor during the final press conference stop in London yesterday. That pretty much signaled that the entire world tour had devolved into little more than a spectacle for a fight that was already well past that point in the first place; let’s be honest.

And it appears that McGregor knows it as well, as the ultra-popular UFC champion spoke up at the post-press conference media scrum in London via MacLife on Facebook to admit his racially charged jokes didn’t find a home:

According to the megastar, the jokes didn’t play out like he wanted them to, and he was now going to leave it alone, as most ‘realistic’ people would know he is not a bigot:

“It didn’t really hit right. I’m just gonna stay where it is and leave it out. I know who I am as a person. I think most realistic people can look and know.”

So while “The Notorious” insists that anyone who truly knows him knows he is far from racist, that insistence will obviously be questioned by many after this week.

But even though his words will be dissected and disparaged as being focused on skin color, he cautioned his fans and everyone else to realize Mayweather is supposedly trying to turn this into something bigger than it is to sway fans to his favor:

“You can be fooled by him if you want to be fooled by him,” McGregor said. “You know the man’s character, you know his history. He’s trying to sway the people in his favor. I think it was a cheap, little [play]. … I was trying to address something in my own little way. But whatever. It is what it is. I had fun with it last night. If he feels disrespected, well he’s an idiot and then f*ck him as well.”

Finally, McGregor also offered his belief that the entire press conference tour became a game where people were keeping score, one in which he thought he won all four rounds even if the public opinion varies. With that established, McGregor chose to move on and shift his focus to preparing for what matters most – the fight on August 26:

“It became something different than before, like a battle almost, like a verbal type of battle and people were scoring it. I can’t anticipate something like the way it was, like it was going back and forth. But if you’re gonna do that, then f*ck it, let’s do it. I smoked him four rounds, I believe.

“It’s done now, it’s wrapped up. Let’s get ready to fight.”

Floyd Mayweather Ends Bizarre Press Tour With Homophobic Slur In London

Through this week’s four-city, three-country world tour, UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor has gained a ton of criticism in the media for his supposedly racist trash talk against Floyd Mayweather heading into their awaited August 26 showdown from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The Irish megastar drew heat for calling Mayweather ‘boy’ and telling him to dance, but never was that more apparent than it was at yesterday’s third stop in Brooklyn, New York, when he responded to the allegations by referencing the size of his genitals and then putting on a air-humping display for his female African-American fans. Not his finest moment to say the least, and even Mayweather spoke out against the behavior after initially saying he would brush it off.

But it was “Money” who blurted out at the off-color remarks at today’s (Fri., July 14, 2017) final world tour press conference in London. Towards the end of his press segment containing an otherworldly percentage of profanity, Mayweather made the ill-advised decision to blurt out a homophobic slur as well.

It all started when Mayweather revealed a supposed gameplan he had with UFC President Dana White to use foreign fighters to make big money, something White has obviously done to perfection with “The Notorious”:

“Keep pimpin’ this bitch. 21 years ago, me and you had a gameplan. We the smart ones when it’s all said and done. Yeah, we gonna take these foreign fighters, and we know how to use ‘em.

“We some smart Americans, and you out here runnin’ with a quitter? But I forget; you the pimp, and this yo’ ho.”

Mayweather disrespected McGregor by offering his belief that he was far from a worthy opponent after his lengthy undefeated reign, and he then mocked McGregor’s timepiece compared to his lavishly expensive one. But that’s when things got unnecessary, as Mayweather followed in McGregor’s shoes with an uncalled-for name:

“I’m undefeated, 21-year run, and this all y’all got to offer? You know what, this a microwave meal, I’m a home-cooked meal that settle in on your stomach. Microwave meal, that’s what you are, I’m a home-cooked meal. With your cheap-ass watch on, step your game up. (Points to his watch) $1.4 million, bitch. Shut up, shut up. Tell me what the UFC bought you? Shut the fuck up, they ain’t bought you shit bitch.”

“We gonna talk about this pussy, You punk, you faggot, you hoe!”

Mayweather then closed by saying he would be McGregor’s “teacher” on August 26:

“You had your turn. You the fuckin’ student, I’m the teacher. August 26, I take you to school.”

And not to be outdone, McGregor hearkened back to a hilarious quote from the Toronto presser by making fun of Mayweather’s backpack:

“Make sure to bring your schoolbag.”

So the world tour press conferences are in the books, and although the attention bounced back a bit after yesterday’s dud in Brooklyn, the continued off-color slurs of both men will most likely mean that many are glad the promotional sandstorm is over – even if this is legitimately one of the biggest fights of all-time.

What is your opinion? Did Mayweather and MCGregor take it too far, or are they simply hyping up the super fight?

Floyd Mayweather Changes Tune On Growing Conor McGregor Racism

Yesterday’s third world tour stop in New York for August 26’s over-the-top Mayweather vs. McGregor was a disappointing letdown from Wednesday’s buzzing Toronto presser, and it’s safe to say Conor McGregor did himself little favors in Brooklyn after coming out looking like a megastar North of the Border.

Much of that stemmed from his response to allegations of racism earlier in the week when he called Mayweather ‘boy’ and told him to ‘dance for him,’ but the UFC front man took things to an all-new – and many believe disgusting – level yesterday in responding to the accusations.

Instead of quiet the storm, McGregor simply got vulgar with repeated sex references:

“Let’s address the race,” McGregor said. “A lot of media seem to be saying I’m against black people. That’s absolutely f*cking ridiculous! Do they not know I’m half black? Yeah, I’m half black from the belly-button down! And just to show that’s squashed, here’s a little present for my beautiful, black, female fans (humps air slowly).”

Perhaps it was in the name of gamesmanship and promotion, two things McGregor obviously ranks towards the top of the world at, namely when he’s attempting to hype up what will most likely be his biggest fight of all-time. But the words were a microcosm of the entire New York press conference, a deflating show of pompous machismo that was doomed before it began after “The Notorious” left fans waiting for nearly two hours.

He downplayed the comments during his post-press conference media scrum as well, insisting he had no prejudice against his opponent or anyone else solely based on race:

“That doesn’t sit well with me,” said McGregor. “I’m very multi-cultural and a very multi-cultured individual, and I don’t have any ill feelings toward any – I don’t even see color. I just wanted to say something and have a little bit of fun with it.

“I just wanted to play with it and address it in my own little way. It’s stupid, and it’s ridiculous is basically what I was getting at.”

SHOWTIME Sports

Regardless of his intentions, his comments are beginning to cross the line, so much so that Mayweather began to change his tune from earlier in the week when he just planned to shrug McGregor’s supposed racism off. Now, the legendary boxer believes the Irishman’s words are becoming offensive to the female members of his family, and it’s losing him a lot of fans in his own post-presser segment via MMA Junkie:

“This is an event where two fighters are competing against one another, but saying a lot of racist things like today toward black women,” Mayweather said. “I have two black daughters, a black mother, of course I’m a black man.

“He’s crossing the line, but I can’t really focus on that right now. I’m here to do a job, and my job is to go out there and entertain. But he’s losing a lot of fans by doing that.”

Mayweather continued on about the discrimination courtesy of MMA Fighting, adding that he also said some things he should not have when he was a younger man like McGregor, believing that the UFC champion will regret the things he did when he gets older:

“Disrespecting my daughter, disrespecting the mother of my daughter, disrespecting black women, calling black people monkeys is totally disrespectful. I have a diverse team. A diverse staff. And when I was young, I may have said some things I shouldn’t have said because I was young. But you live, you learn and you don’t say those things when you get to a certain age because it’s all about growth and maturity.

“Today, he came out today and did it again…I guess when he gets older he’ll look back and say I probably shouldn’t have said that,” Mayweather said.

Floyd Mayweather Offers Heartfelt Apology To Dana White

It’s safe to say that boxing great Floyd Mayweather and UFC President Dana White don’t have the closest friendship, as “Money” has certainly sent some smack White’s way by saying he used to ‘carry his bags’ back when the UFC head man was just hustling to get recognized in the fight game. It’s safe to say that boxing great Floyd Mayweather and UFC President Dana White don’t have the closest friendship, as “Money” has certainly sent some smack White’s way by saying he used to ‘carry his bags’ back when the UFC head man was just hustling to get recognized in the fight game.

But headed into his anticipated August 26th match with White’s new golden boy Conor McGregor, Mayweather apparently doesn’t want to grind that axe any longer. During yesterday’s (Wed., July 12, 2017) press conference in Toronto, an event which McGregor used to throw the kitchen sink of insults at Mayweather and his team, “Money” stayed surprisingly calm to offer a heartfelt apology to White for what he said in the past:

“Dana, I could never disrespect you. I’ve known you for 21 years. You’ve done a hell of a job with this company. And I want to continue to watch you grow, I want you continue to build the UFC, ’cause it’s all about combat sports. No matter what I said about you in the past, as am an I look in your face and apologize, and tell you I’m sorry, but you’ve done a hell of a job with this company.”

After the press conference, Mayweather elaborated on the reason behind his apology, noting that he’s made some mistakes in responding to White’s words in the past, and admitted he’s man enough to own up to them and say he’s sorry. With that established, he affirmed he isn’t angry at anyone via MMA Fighting:

“Dana White used to come over my house every day,” Mayweather said. “I’ve been knowing Dana White 21 years. I’m big enough to apologize to Dana White. I’m a real man, that’s what real men do. I’m man enough to apologize. I’ve said some stuff about Dana. I’m only human. He takes shots at me; I take shots back. I’m only human. I’m not upset with Dana White, I’m not upset with anybody.”

SHOWTIME Sports

That’s a far cry from his words of merely six months ago, when Mayweather compared White’s standing with the UFC under its previous owners and his good friends the Fertitta brothers with the current owners now that the UFC was sold. With WME-IMG now running the show, Mayweather suggested, White was merely another employee, and he compared that to the time when he supposedly used to carry Mayweather’s equipment when “Money” wore his Bullenbeiser clothing company patch on his shorts:

“I don’t want to talk to Dana White,” Mayweather said. “Remember, Dana White, he was a player he was a boss but he was a small boss. The big bosses were the Fertittas. But then the Fertitta’s chose to sell the UFC so Dana is just an employee. Dana White – I like Dana White, I don’t have anything against him – but I can remember Dana White used to hang around me and Jeff Mayweather and carry my bags.

“Dana White, I remember when you used to carry my bags. And remember Dana White, I showed you love. You had the little Bullenbeisser [sponsorship] patch I wore on my trunks for you, Dana. I’ve always been good to you. But then all of the sudden he cut his head bald and he’s such a tough guy. He’s such a tough guy.”

Now that he’s facing the biggest name in MMA, however, Mayweather has somewhat surprisingly changed his tune even though White’s outspoken main attraction continues to rake him over the coals during every second of the world tour. Will the love continue to come from Mayweather amidst the hot venom from “The Notorious” at today’s press conference stop in Brooklyn?

Over the past two days, the Los Angeles and Toronto press conferences on the Mayweather vs. McGregor world tour have provided the collective combat sports world with some of the best over-the-top trash talk for one of the most unique bookings the fight game has ever seen.

Both top names have had their moments, with many pundits giving Mayweather the first leg in L.A. by a hair, while “The Notorious” stormed back at yesterday’s second stop in Toronto to pick up what many thought was a landslide victory – at least in terms of smack talk.

The back-and-forth banter is for one reason, and that’s obviously to increase hype and anticipation for a bout that could legitimately be the biggest fight of all-time in any combat sport. But there are a few, right or wrong, who believe McGregor takes his smack talk too far to the point where it borders on racism against his African-American counterpart.

During both press conferences, McGregor used what many perceive to be a racist taunt by telling Mayweather to “dance for me, boy,” an insult some believe hearkens back to slavery in the United States. “Money” apparently isn’t fazed by it, however, as he told TMZ Sports there were only two kinds of ‘boys’:

“We all know there’s only 2 types of boys — a white boy and a cowboy — and I’m neither.”

The boxing legend expanded on his view of the situation, noting that he wasn’t angered by the situation, and instead chose to let it roll off of his shoulders in order to stay focused on the massive bout:

“Racism still exists but you know, I try to take something negative and turn it into something positive. A lot of people say that Conor McGregor is racist but I’m not worried about that.

“It is what it is. He’s entitled to feel how he wants to feel. I just want to stay in my zone and stay focused.”

SHOWTIME Sports

So “Money” Mayweather isn’t letting McGregor’s supposedly racist trash talk get him down, yet this is far from the first time we’ve heard critics say “The Notorious” pushes the boundaries of prejudice and discrimination with his talk.

He infamously called Nate Diaz a “cholo gangster from the hood” at their now-legendary UFC 196 presser right after it was announced Diaz would replace former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos against McGregor, and said he wanted to turn Jose Aldo’s “favela in to a Reebok sweatshop” during the world tour for their scheduled UFC 189 blockbuster that Aldo ultimately pulled out of.

No matter the perception, McGregor is considered the best talker in MMA, and if his torrid pace continues, there’s a good chance he’ll be considered the best smack talker in boxing, too. The latter could quickly crashing down if he’s made to look foolish against Mayweather, however. In terms of this discussion, it would seem that many working parts come into play, and the gray area of whether or not people are taking this too seriously as opposed to if McGregor is actually being racist is quite the murky scene.

What do you think about his words? Are they actually racist, or are media members making too much of words used to sell a fight?

Floyd Mayweather Bets Conor McGregor His Whole Fight Check

The gloves were off at the second Mayweather vs. McGregor press conference from Toronto today (Wed., July 12, 2017), with “The Notorious” throwing trash talk haymakers left and right after he was supposedly shushed by SHOWTIME when his mic auspiciously wouldn’t work while Mayweather was talking at yesterday’s first world tour leg from Los Angeles.

McGregor threw everything at Mayweather today, calling him “boxing’s biggest bitch” and mocking his ability (or lack thereof) to read, amongst other choice one-liners. It was then “Money’s” turn to respond, and he took the opportunity to mock McGregor’s ability in boxing, focusing on the fact that the fans, who were obviously in support of the Irishman, couldn’t fight for him:

“One thing we do know, one thing we do know. The fuckin’ fans can’t fight for you.”

McGregor then responded with one of his all-time greats:

“Shut your fookin’ mouth.”

Mayweather then reacted to the suggestion he couldn’t read, noting that he instead does numbers, especially in terms of years on top of the boxing game – and of course his cash-driven namesake:

“We not talkin’ about being at the top one year, two year, three, four years; motherfucker, 21 years. Yeah, and they said, ‘I’m the motherfucker that can’t read? Bitch, I do numbers. I make money. You know my middle name, bitch.”

The Irishman would have none of it, however, poking fun at Mayweather’s supposed need to take the fight with him to pay off the tax bill form his 2015 bout against Manny Pacquiao:

“You owe money.”

“Money” was clearly unhappy with the suggestion that he owed any of that, so he immediately challenged McGregor to bet his whole purse against him if he believed in himself so much:

“I do? Let me see the bag. Yeah, he was right, the bag got books, and we gonna show you what the books look like. If you believe in yourself like you say you believe in yourself, bet your whole fight check, you bitch.”

“The Notorious” replied that he had no problem betting his sure-to-be monstrous payday and to send the contract for the bet:

“No fuckin’ problem. Send the contract kid, it’s done.”

Mayweather wasn’t done there, as he shifted focus to the fact that MCGregor quit in his sole UFC loss, his now-famous 2016 submission defeat to Nate Diaz, a diss that elicited a loud chorus of boos from the pro-McGregor fans:

“You know, you know. I like you. You punk, this your boss, you bitch (points at Dana White). And ya’ll got the fuckin’ nerves to believe in a fighter that like to fuckin’ quit. This is fuckin’ quitter. Turn the pressure up, I don’t quit. I don’t fold under pressure . I’m the best, and you know I’m the best. Bitch, and you know I’m the best. Don’t you ever tell me shit about a fuckin’ three-million dollar fighter.”

“Yeah, we just gettin’ heated up.”

Finally, Mayweather made light of his age, which is advancing for a professional fighter at the top of the game at 40. But “Money” said he looked much younger:

“I’m 40 but I look 20.”

McGregor would have the last word, of course, stating that Mayweather in fact looked much younger due to his choice of clothes:

“And you look 10.”
