Jake Paul's mother fears for son's safety in Mike Tyson fight: 'My mum is very scared'

YouTuber and Boxer Jake Paul has found himself in hot water over a bribery defamation lawsuit going down in the courts. Mike Tyson isn’t the only opponent ‘The Problem Child’ needs to worry about.

Jake Paul is Being Sued

Jake Paul is being sued over defamation by Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing over bribing a judge named Glenn Feldman to favor certain fighters in major boxing matches. Paul claimed that Hearn bribed Feldman to produce biased scorecards in fights involving Amanda Serrano vs. Katie Taylor and Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk, where Serrano and Joshua both lost on points.

In September 2022, Serrano became the first athlete to sign with Paul’s promotional company, Most Valuable Promotions, which aimed to elevate women’s boxing and ensure fairer treatment for female fighters. He was impressed by her performance and recognized her potential to draw attention to women’s boxing, which had been historically under-promoted.

Matchroom Boxing asked Paul to publicly retract his statement. When Paul refused, they filed a defamation lawsuit seeking over $100 million in damages. Glenn Feldman, the accused judge, joined the lawsuit as a co-plaintiff.

Most recently, a judge denied Paul’s attempt to have the case dismissed, meaning the lawsuit will proceed. The next legal step is a pre-trial conference on October 16, 2024, although Paul is not expected to attend.

Jake Paul will meet heavyweight legend Mike Tyson in a blockbuster boxing match on November 15 which will stream on Netflix. Afterward, sometime in 2025, ‘The Problem Child’ will make his MMA debut in the PFL. Paul has made a name for himself in the boxing world by defeating former UFC fighters such as Aderson Silva, Mike Perry, Ben Askren, and Tyron Woodley, among others.

Mike Tyson Takes Credit for Starting Jake Paul's Career—And Now He's Going to Finish It

Mike Tyson gave Jake Paul his first big break in the boxing ring.

Four years later, the two generational stars will collide in one of the most-watched fights in the sport’s history. Emanating from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Paul vs. Tyson will headline a loaded card airing live and exclusively on Netflix at no additional charge for the streaming giant’s 260 million+ subscribers.

Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul

While Tyson’s journey in the world of boxing came to an end nearly 20 years ago following a sixth-round loss to Kevin McBride, Paul’s has barely begun. Thus far, ‘The Problem Child’ is 10-1 with victories over a slew of past-their-prime MMA stars, including Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, and Nate Diaz.

But before all of those fights, Paul’s first noteworthy appearance inside the squared circle came against former NBA star Nate Robinson. Their clash was the co-main event of Tyson’s charity exhibition boxing bout against fellow legend Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020.

Four years later things will come full circle as the former unified heavyweight world champion aims to end the career he helped start.

“I don’t know [why he wants to fight me]. I’m close to 60 years old,” Tyson said on the It Is What It Is podcast. “He’s going to get a lot of money as well. He’s improved since the first time he fought on my card. I started Jake off, I let him fight on my undercard a few years ago. No one knew who the hell he was. I started him and it looks like most likely I’m going to finish him” (h/t Middle Easy).

Roy Jones Jr. questions whether or not jake paul can take Mike Tyson’s power

Whether or not the 58-year-old icon can get the job done remains to be seen, but oddsmakers certainly don’t seem confident. As it stands, Paul is a more than 3-to-1 favorite to come out on top against ‘Iron’ in The Lone Star State. Still, some believe Tyson’s legendary power will be on full display leading to a complete and total backfire on the part of Paul.

“The first time he hit me in the chest, it felt like a mule had kicked me in the chest and if he hits anybody with a shot like that, they are either going out or down, especially guys who are not used to being hit like that,” Roy Jones Jr. said during an appearance on the Sugar Shane Show.

“With these types of people like Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis, these guys are bigger and can take it. but Jake Paul, I don’t think he’s going to be able to take that. It might hit him on the chin like that, we’ll see, but it’s going to be tough” (The Sportster).

Stephen Glover, better known as Steve-O, recently made a stunning revelation, claiming that Dana White once ditched a UFC main event to watch Jake Paul’s boxing match instead.

It’s well-known that for several years, Paul and White have been locked in a heated war of words, frequently clashing with starkly opposing views on a range of issues. It’s primarily “The Problem Child” who has, time and again, slammed the UFC CEO for underpaying his fighters and failing to provide adequate medical coverage.

On the other hand, White’s frustration with Paul became public when the YouTuber-turned-boxer began taking on retired UFC fighters like Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley in the squared circle. The UFC head honcho has fiercely dismissed the 27-year-old Ohio native’s criticism of fighter pay. White has also voiced his opinion that Paul only fights opponents well past their prime.

Although White isn’t fond of Paul’s crossover boxing exploits, according to Steve-O, the 55-year-old businessman once tuned in to watch “The Problem Child” take on one of the most prominent ex-UFC superstars.

Steve-O Claims White Skipped UFC Nashville Main Event to Watch Paul vs. Diaz

During a recent appearance on BS w/ Jake Paul, Steve-O, a close friend of White, revealed an interesting moment from UFC Fight Night Nashville in August 2023. While Cory Sandhagen battled Rob Font in the main event, White apparently found the fight dull and slipped backstage to his room.

Instead of watching the UFC headliner, he tuned in to catch Paul’s cruiserweight showdown against Nate Diaz, which was happening simultaneously at the American Airlines Center in Texas.

“I can tell you that when you boxed Nate Diaz that night, there was a UFC Fight Night in Nashville, Tennessee,” Steve-O said. “I had arranged to fly to Nashville because I was very interested in looking at properties… You know, that’s why I was in Nashville for this fight night. It was Cory Sandhagen versus Rob Font, and the main event was dreadfully boring. Dana dipped out of the arena, and after the fight, I was walking out, and we were like, ‘Oh, what’s up with Dana?’ We go into his room, and he’s just turned on you fighting Nate Diaz, and I watched you fight Nate Diaz with Dana.”

In an interview with boxing icon Mike Tyson last year, White dispelled the widespread belief that he harbors hatred for “The Problem Child”. In fact, White clarified that he doesn’t dislike him at all.

Instead, he’s friends with Jake’s sibling, Logan Paul, whose beverage Prime became the official hydration partner of the UFC in February 2023.
