YouTube star Jake Paul and former unified heavyweight world champion ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson went face-to-face for the first time since announcing their highly anticipated clash.
It will be Tyson’s first time competing as a pro since a 2005 loss to Kevin McBride. Meanwhile, ‘The Problem Child’ will be entering the squared circle for the 11th time in his career after making a name for himself by dispatching a slew of former MMA stars and no-name boxers.
Ahead of their showdown, Paul and Tyson stepped on the stage at The Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York to address questions from members of the media and face off with one another.
Tickets for the massive matchup are scheduled to go on sale at noon on Thursday, May 16 exclusively on SeatGeek.com. According to a report from Marca, 120,000 fans already signing up for presale access.
The event will also offer a first-ever $2 million VIP ticket package which will offer ringside seats and a security escort. The purchaser will also get a pre-fight photo with both Tyson and Paul, autographed gloves from both fighters and a spot on stage during the weigh-ins.
Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul will be accompanied by one of the most anticipated rematches of all time
In addition to Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson, fans in attendance and those watching around the world will see one of the most anticipated rematches in boxing history as Irish ass-kicker Katie Taylor puts her undisputed super lightweight title on the line against Puerto Rican sensation Amanda Serrano.
The bout will serve as a rematch of their instant classic inside Madison Square Garden in April 2022. On that night, Taylor came out on top, securing a split-decision victory to retain the undisputed lightweight world title.

Deontay Wilder does not want to see Mike Tyson step inside the ring with Jake Paul.
The former WBC heavyweight world champion recently raised some concerns about the upcoming boxing match between YouTube sensation Jake Paul and the legendary pugilist, ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson. The bout is scheduled to go down on Saturday, July 20, emanating from the 80,000-seat AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Upon announcement, the bout was expected to be an exhibition match between the two generational talents. However, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation agreed to sanction the bout as a professional fight — the first of Mike Tyson’s career in nearly 20 years.
“I think it’s bad the commission has licensed Mike Tyson because he hasn’t been active in 20 years, so they should not just license him because of who he is, that’s how people get hurt, god forbid he gets hurt,” Wilder said in an interview with Sportsbook Review. “People can get hit in the wrong place and at the wrong time, there’s lots of examples where guys have been hit into a coma. It’s easy to do. He’s too old for this” (h/t DailyMail).
Deontay Wilder Insists No One Cares about Mike Tyson’s well-Being
The significant age difference between Tyson and Paul has been a growing concern among pundits. By the time the two step inside the ring this summer, the former unified heavyweight titleholder will be 58 years old, more than 30 years older than the 27-year-old ‘Problem Child.’
“At the end of the day, no one gives a f*ck about Mike,” Wilder continued. “We can talk about the pros and cons, but at the end of the day, they don’t give a f*ck. I don’t think anyone cares about Mike because if they did they wouldn’t sanction the fight. They may say they’ve done tests and all that, ok, but as long as you’re willing to suffer the consequences if something bad goes wrong.
“His power may not have left completely but you still need to set it up, your stamina needs to be a certain way, or it’s going to look like a clown show. I don’t want to see it to be honest.”
Meanwhile, Tyson has been retired since 2005, closing out his career with a 50-6 record and 44 of his wins coming by way of knockout. ‘Iron’ did return to the ring in 2020 for an exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr.
“I don’t want the last thing I remember of him is him getting knocked out by a YouTuber,” Wilder added. “The last thing you do, that’s what people remember you by.”
The two generational talents will return to the squared circle on Saturday, July 20 for a professional boxing bout scheduled to air live on Netflix and emanate from the 80,000-seat AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas — home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.
During an appearance at the Formula One Grand Prix in Miami on Monday, ‘The Problem Child’ took things in a decidedly dark direction after the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation officially sanctioned their scrap as a pro fight.
“It’s an honor to be in the ring with him, but I have to end him,” Paul said. ‘’It’s war. All is fair in love and war. I love the guy, but as soon as it turned into a pro fight, one of us has to die. He’s a legend. I love the guy. But at the end of the day, it’s war and you just have to go to war and put it all on the line. I still have the utmost respect for him, and I think he’ll say the same about me and what I’ve done for the sport.”
Paul will be stepping into the ring for the 11th time in his career. Thus far, he is a solid 9-1, though a majority of his wins have come against a series of ex-MMA stars and no-name boxers who had been out of the game for quite some time when they agreed to fight the YouTube star.
As for Mike Tyson, the former unified heavyweight world champion has not competed in a professional bout since a 2005 loss to Kevin McBride. Overall, ‘Iron’ is 50-6 with 44 of his wins coming by way of knockout.
Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson joined by one of the most anticipated rematches in boxing history
In the co-main event of the evening, undisputed super lightweight champion Katie Taylor will run back her instant classic with Amanda Serrano.
Meeting for the first time inside the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden, Taylor outlasted Seranno in their critically acclaimed April 22 clash, earning a split decision victory to walk away with her WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring lightweight world titles.

Ryan Garcia is holding firm to the pretense that he did not knowingly cheat ahead of his fight with Devin Haney in April, despite what a failed drug test might insinuate.
The circumstances surrounding the fight were already controversial due to Garcia missing weight ahead of the event, but they turned rather spectacular as Garcia went on to deliver a brutal beatdown of Haney on his way to a decision victory.
Less than a month after the fight, it was reported that Garcia had failed not one but two drug tests for a banned performance-enhancing substance called Ostarine. According to Ryan Garcia, though, he never took steroids and has passionately denied the allegations.
Ryan Garcia tells Jake Paul that he will ‘quit boxing’ on Instagram live
Speaking to fellow boxer and social media celebrity Jake Paul on Instagram Live, Garcia spoke about these allegations and kept claiming that he was innocent.
“Ryan, if you did do it, then that’s really f*cked up,” Paul said (H/T MMA Fighting). “I’m going to be pissed off at you as a friend, that’s f*cked up.”
“If I did it, which I know damn well I didn’t, I would quit boxing,” Garcia replied. “I didn’t do it. That’s crazy… God is watching me at all times. I’m not going to do something to cheat people. I could have hurt him. I could have killed him. Why the f*ck would I do that? It’s so stupid, I’m not going to do it. Deadass, I would never cheat.”
The fight was of epic magnitude for Ryan Garcia, who had the chance to capture his first-ever world title against Haney. However, this opportunity would be denied due to his weight miss on the scales. Now, even the win itself is of question, as obviously, the usage of PEDs would invalidate this impressive victory.
