Paul and Tyson are set to box in a pro bout, after the Texas Commission sanctioned it as such. It’s an intriguing matchup, and going into the bout, Paul is the betting favorite and he’s confident he will put the former heavyweight champion on the canvas.

“They’re just going to say, ‘He’s old and you disrespected him,’ and all that s—,” Paul said on his YouTube channel. “But I just want to make it clear: Mike Tyson was the one who wanted it to be a pro fight. Mike got into training camp and called up people on my team and were like, ‘Let’s do a pro fight, is Jake down?’” Netflix was like, ‘Let’s make it a pro fight, we’re down.’

“And I said to [MVP co-owner] Nakisa [Bidarian], ‘If that’s what Mike wants, that’s fine. But make sure you tell Mike that there’s no holding back. Whatever happens, happens and this is war now and if Mike’s okay with that, then I’m okay with that but I want Mike to be the one making this decision.’ I’m going in there, and now it’s a pro fight, it’s on my record, I’m going to f—ing put him down. And if people are pissed about it, then watch soccer,” Paul continued.

If Paul does KO Tyson it would be a statement-making performance from him. However, some fans are still worried about the fight due to the age gap between the two.

After it was revealed the fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson would be a pro fight, betting odds for the bout were revealed for the fight.

Paul is currently a -180 favorite while Tyson is a +135 underdog. At -180, that implies a 64.3% chance of winning the fight.

Jake Paul enters the bout with a pro record of 9-1 and is coming off back-to-back first-round knockouts over Ryan Bourland and Andre August.

Mike Tyson, meanwhile, is 50-6 and two NC’s in his pro career, but he hasn’t fought professionally since Kevin McBride. He did box Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition match in November of 2020.

Ahead of their July clash in Arlington, Texas, reports have confirmed how former world heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson’s fight with outspoken social media influencer, Jake Paul will be an officially sanctioned professional boxing match – with the bout appearing on both’s professional records.

Tyson, a former world heavyweight boxing champion, revered as one of the most devastating knockout punchers of all-time, returns to the ring for the first time in a professional setting since his 2005 retirement.

As for Paul, the polarizing Ohio native turned in his ninth professional boxing victory back in March in his residency in Puerto Rico, landing a first round TKO win over former Golden Gloves winner, Ryan Bourland.

And this Monday afternoon the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations confirmed that Tyson’s fighting return against Paul will be an official, sanctioned professional boxing match – with the pair competing over the course of eight rounds – lasting two minutes, and contested in 14 ounce gloves.

“Mike Tyson and Jake signed on to fight each other with the desire to do so in a sanctioned professional fight that would have a definitive outcome,” Nakisa Bidarian, the co-founder of Most Valubable Promotions confirmed in a statement released to ESPN. “Over the past six weeks, MVP has worked with its partners to satisfy the requirements of the Texas Department of Licesning and Regulations to sanction Paul vs. Tyson, and we are grateful that we have gotten to this point.”

Last competing back in 2020 in Los Angeles, California, Tyson took on former cruiserweight world champion and fellow boxing icon, Roy Jones Jr. in an official exhibition bout to a split decision draw in the pair’s WBC scored pairing.
Throughout the build up to their July fight in Texas – which will be broadcast globally on streaming platform, Netflix, both Tyson and Paul have vowed to turn in devastating knockout victories over each other, respectively.

Paul has even gone as far as say he would be willing to face Masvidal in an MMA fight. Paul had signed to PFL last year but nothing has been made official in terms of an actual MMA fight.

“The one thing I will say, they’re digging their own grave,” Paul said on his BS podcast. “I’m being so serious when I say that I want to fight them in MMA. Either Masvidal or Diaz in the PFL. $10,000,000 offer for either one of those guys. Again, they will literally hide behind the fact — Masvidal, ‘You can’t even box. However, with Masvidal now out of his UFC contract and taking boxing fights, many thought a fight would happen. But, speaking on The MMA Hour, Jorge Masvidal revealed why the boxing match hasn’t happened.

Listen [Jake], the UFC doesn’t like your b**** a**. Dana White, don’t like your b**** a**. Obviously, Hunter Campbell doesn’t like your b**** a**. They said, ‘We’re not going to let you make money with this guy,’ because at the end of the day, we’re partners. Me and Nate, we’re going to make money right now,” Masvidal said.

Jorge Maasvidal says the UFC is letting him box, so he does still have to get the promotion’s approval. According to ‘Gamebred’ with White and the UFC not liking Paul it ruled out a potential boxing match between the two.

“Jake don’t sell like Logan. The UFC allowed me to do some boxing matches, but Jake had said some unpleasant things about Dana White and also about the UFC. So the UFC basically said, ‘F*** you, we’re not going to let you go get money with someone who is not the biggest draw.’ I can fight Logan Paul, but Jake Paul’s an a**,” Jorge Masvidal added.

Instead of boxing Jake Paul, Jorge Mavidal will be rematching Nate Diaz on June 1, but this time it will be in the boxing ring.

Masvidal and Diaz first met in MMA for the inaugural BMF title back at UFC 244 in 2019, with ‘Gamebred’ winning by doctor stoppage. The two will now be having their rematch in boxing, after Diaz made his boxing debut last year, which he lost by decision to Jake Paul.

Masvidal vs. Diaz 2 is set to take place at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.

Tyson also revealed that in addition to his fight with Jake Paul this summer, fans will also see a highly anticipated rematch between two of the best female boxers in the world today.

Irish star Katie Taylor, who currently reigns as the undisputed lightweight and super lightweight world champion, will put the latter on the line when she runs back her 2022 classic with Puerto Rican sensation Amanda Serrano.

“We have the biggest female boxing event ever on our card,” Tyson wrote on X. “I have always advocated for female boxers getting more recognition and getting paid bigger purses, so for the Taylor vs Serrano 2 fight to be on our fight card is historic.”

Taylor and Serrano’s inaugural meeting was the first women’s boxing match to headline Madison Square Garden and was highly regarded as the biggest women’s fight of all time. It was dubbed Fight of the Year by Sports Illustrated and Event of the Year by The Ring.
