The one and only Jake Paul appears to be feeling extremely confident after his win over MMA legend Nate Diaz last night on August 5th. In fact, he’s feeling so confident that he isn’t even hesitating when claiming he will become a world champion in boxing by 2026.
Paul and Diaz threw down in what was a mediocrely hyped event. It didn’t really live up to its potential, hype-wise or fight-wise. There were some great moments, sure. Fans went absolutely wild for some reason when Diaz held Paul in a guillotine for a few seconds. It was a boxing fight, but fans sure got excited about it as evidenced by all the viral posts depicting Diaz holding Paul in the choke.
The facts stand as this: Paul and Diaz threw down for 10 rounds. Diaz got knocked down multiple times by a Youtuber turned boxer, but didn’t really get cut up badly, which fans were also extremely excited about for some reason. The entire show was a little melodramatic. For two bonafide showmen such as Jake Paul and Stockton’s own Nate Diaz, the hype leading up to the fight and the fight in general really could’ve been so much more exciting.
This isn’t by any means a knock on either man. They both stepped into the squared circle and gave a respectful showing. However, many felt disappointed when lost in thought about “what could’ve been”.
Jake Paul makes lofty aspirations known after Nate Diaz fight
“How many rounds did your favorite boxer fight for in their 8th pro fight?” Most Valuable Promotions, a Jake Paul-owned company, stated in a Twitter Post. Gervonta Davis 4rds – Terence Crawford 4rds – Canelo Alvarez 6rds – Floyd Mayweather 6rds – Anthony Joshua 8rds – Tyson Fury 10rds Jake Paul, with just 1 amateur fight (Jake Paul) went 10rds in his 8th fight. #win”
Jake Paul didn’t hesitate before sharing this tweet, with a caption of his own. “Facts,” Paul replied in his own caption. “All great fighters. My path may be different but the destination is going to be the same. World champion by 2026.”
So, obviously, Jake Paul has some lofty goals. To become either an MMA or boxing world champion would take a ridiculous amount of time and skill. Paul is used to being counted out and doubted. Herein lies the secret to his gimmick. He is a literal heel, just like the wrestling terminology. Meaning: he’s meant to be hated. That’s literally his entire gimmick.
So, it makes the most sense for him to do things such as reply to a tweet made by a company he owns (which painted him in an appealing spotlight) with an equally ridiculous tweet that also paints him in an appealing way. It’s just his marketing and business strategy at this point. Paul is thriving and making literal millions off of being detested by fans in the same way that legendary heels like Edge, Randy Orton, and countless other WWE ‘bad guys’ made millions off of being similarly disliked and booed.
As the saying goes: “Don’t hate the player, hate the game.” Right now, Jake Paul is making a killing off of abusing the emotions of fans. People want to see him win or lose, but what matters is that they care. It seems like the Paul brothers won’t be going anywhere soon. and their antics will most likely only grow wilder and more desperate with age.

Saturday night’s long-awaited boxing clash between Jake Paul and Nate Diaz certainly delivered on the hype, with ‘The Problem Child’ coming out on top via a unanimous decision. Following the bout, Paul once again offered the ‘Stockton Samurai’ a cool $10 million for a rematch in mixed martial arts. Diaz seemingly accepted the offer while in the ring, but apparently, the kid from 209 was already trying to put some MMA moves on the social media star during their boxing bout.
“I wasn’t trying to, but I had a single leg in the first and a choke in the ninth, so I already won that battle,” Diaz said, referencing moments in the fight where his MMA instincts began to take over.
Later that evening, Jake Paul revealed to members of the media that not only did Nate Diaz have him in a guillotine choke, but that the TUF alumnus really cinched it in before being broken up by the referee.
“He f*cking choked me! He was actually choking me. I was like, ‘This is crazy.’ I didn’t think he was gonna stop, but he had it in,” Paul revealed during an appearance at the post-fight press event. “That’s why I want to do it back in MMA. If it was MMA, I would have dropped to a double-leg, picked him up, and dropped him on his head.”
Will We See Jake Paul and Nate Diaz Run It Back in MMA?
With his seventh-career win in the books, Jake Paul will likely turn his attention toward his mixed martial arts debut. Earlier this year, ‘The Problem Child’ revealed that he had signed with the Professional Fighters League with plans to step inside the patented Smart Cage in early 2024, presumably on the same night that another blockbuster signee, Francis Ngannou, will make his own PFL premiere.
Paul clearly wants Nate Diaz to be his opponent, laying down a guaranteed $10 million payday to sign on the dotted line. Diaz has mostly remained non-committal when asked about the offer. However, on Saturday night, Diaz seemingly accepted the offer as long as it can be a co-promotion with his own company, Real Fight Inc.
Do you want to see Nate Diaz step inside the PFL Smart Cage with Jake Paul next year, or is it time for the ‘Stockton Samurai’ to return to the UFC after his brief excursion in the sweet science?

Off the back of his unanimous decision loss to the outspoken, Jake Paul in Dallas, Texas last night, former UFC lightweight title challenger, Nate Diaz has claimed that the Ohio native “can’t really fight” – joking that he almost latched onto a guillotine choke in the ninth round of their professional boxing match.
Making his return to combat sports for the first time since a UFC 279 submission win over former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson, fan-favorite veteran, Diaz dropped a unanimous decision (97-92, 98-91, 98-91) loss to the now 7-1 Paul, over the course of 10 rounds at the American Airlines Center.
Surviving beyond an adversity-filled opening round, which included Paul landing a massive counter hook which wobbled and sent Diaz reeling, the Californian was ultimately dropped midway through the bout.
Landing his own series of strikes – particularly in the latter series of their showdown, Diaz even attempted to grab hold of a front headlock and standing guillotine choke in the penultimate round of his fight with Paul – throwing his hands in the air in celebration after the referee separated the duo.
Jake Paul offers to fight Nate Diaz in rematch under the PFL banner
“I’m not trying to f*cking talk sh*t,” Nate Diaz said at his post-fight press conference. “He’s boxing high-level MMA guys and he’s sparring hard and working with good people, and then he starts talking sh*t to me throughout the camp. It comes with the territory and all is fair, love and war, I’m always about that. Say whatever you want, that’s fine. But then when you start making things personal, trying to make things personal, saying sh*t he shouldn’t be saying. It hurts people’s feelings when I say this ain’t a real fight.”
“Because if it’s a real fight – remember [the] Logan Paul (lookalike) in New Orleans?” Nate Diaz asked. “No problem. This is not a real fight to be talking to me like that. This is a boxing competition, so that’s what I meant by he can’t really fight. It’s not overly disrespectful, If yu can’t really fight, don’t be talking sh*t.”
Would you like to see Nate Diaz rematch Jake Paul in the PFL?
Of course, Conor McGregor commented on Saturday night’s scrap between former foe Nate Diaz and social media sensation Jake Paul. Emanating from the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, ‘The Problem Child’ scored his seventh career pro boxing win, besting the ‘Stockton Samurai’ after 10 entertaining rounds of action. Following the bout, Diaz seemingly agreed to […]

Following the bout, Diaz seemingly agreed to a $10 million dollar challenge to face Paul in the PFL Smart Cage next year.
As you probably guessed, that did not sit well with Conor McGregor who took to Twitt… Sorry. Took to ‘X’ and offered up a few short words. “F*ck this, sweetie what’s up,” he X’d(?).
Ahead of Saturday’s scrap in the Lone Star State, all signs pointed toward Nate Diaz returning to the UFC for a long-awaited trilogy bout with Conor McGregor. However, that may no longer be the case.
Conor McGregor Continues to Call Out Anyone and Everyone
Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz previously met inside the Octagon on two separate occasions in 2016. Diaz handed the former champ-champ his first career loss under the UFC banner, but the Irishman evened the score with a majority decision victory five months later. Since then, fans have been calling for a trilogy bout and both fighters seemed intent to deliver that at some point. But with a very lucrative offer from Jake Paul and Conor McGregor doing his best to avoid the United States Anti-Doping Agency, maybe Diaz sees an MMA bout with ‘The Problem Child’ as a more viable option right now.
Jake Paul has also done his fair share of calling out Conor McGregor, trying to goad him into a scrap under the PFL banner. But we all know Uncle Dana would never let that happen.
McGregor has even taken aim at newly crowned BMF titleholder Justin Gaethje following his highlight-reel head kick knockout against Dustin Poirier at UFC 291 last month.
The moral of the story is, Conor McGregor is ready to fight everyone, yet no one. In the event that the Irishman does take the necessary steps to make a return, which fight would you like to see him accept? Nate Diaz? Jake Paul? Justin Gaethje? Perhaps the fight with Michael Chandler that he’s been linked to since the beginning of the year?
On Saturday night, Jake Paul scored the first win in his budding rivalry with former UFC star Nate Diaz. ‘The Problem Child’ delivered another top-notch performance against one of mixed martial arts’ most elite, and earned a unanimous decision victory over the ‘Stockton Samurai.’ But if things go Paul’s way, this is just the first […]
On Saturday night, Jake Paul scored the first win in his budding rivalry with former UFC star Nate Diaz.
‘The Problem Child’ delivered another top-notch performance against one of mixed martial arts’ most elite, and earned a unanimous decision victory over the ‘Stockton Samurai.’ But if things go Paul’s way, this is just the first chapter of what could be a long and entertaining feud between two men from very different ends of the combat sports spectrum.
Immediately following their scrap inside the American Airlines Center, Jake Paul once again threw out his MMA offer to Nate Diaz. $10 million dollars for a fight inside the PFL Smart Cage in 2024. While Diaz has remained non-committal when discussing the offer previously, the TUF alumnus seemed much more open to the possibility, with the caveat that it would be a co-promotion with his Real Fight Inc. organization.
Could We Get Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz 2 Inside the Smart Cage?
With his seventh career pro boxing win. Jake Paul is expected to turn his attention toward an expected mixed martial arts debut next year with the Professional Fighters League. No date or opponent has been announced, but it’s quite clear that Paul desperately wants his MMA debut to come against Nate Diaz. And with Diaz taking an L in their boxing showdown on Saturday night, it’s possible that the kid from 209 will want some retribution on home turf. That is unless big brother Nick Diaz gets to it first.
“I wasn’t trying to, but I had a single leg in the first and a choke in the ninth, so I already won that battle,” Diaz said, referencing moments in the fight where his MMA instincts began to take over.
Do you want to see Nate Diaz and Jake Paul run it back? And if so, in which sport?
