UFC welterweight standout Randy Brown believes Nate Diaz will get “destroyed” inside the squared circle with social media sensation Jake Paul.

After 15 years of competing inside the Octagon, Nate Diaz will make his highly anticipated pro boxing debut as the Stockton Samurai is set to square off with Jake Paul inside the American Airlines Center in Dallas on August 5. Despite having one of the more celebrated stand-up games in mixed martial arts, Diaz is listed as a +245 underdog a month before the bout is scheduled to go down. According to Randy Brown, those odds sound about right based on Diaz’s skill set versus that of his opponent.

“I think Nate Diaz doesn’t have great boxing, I think he has great elements of boxing, I think there’s things that he incorporates well from boxing in his game and he has great drop punches because he carries his hands very high so there’s no tell and then he just drops them on you,” Brown told InsideFighting.

Jake Paul is currently 6-1 in his career as a professional boxer. Most of those victories have come against non-boxers, including former NBA star Nate Robinson and ex-MMA world champions Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, and Anderson Silva. His lone loss came against the one legitimate boxer he has faced in his career, Tommy Fury.

Randy Brown Doesn’t Like Nate Diaz’s Chances Against Jake Paul

With an undeniably solid record against former UFC stars, many fight fans, including Randy Brown, aren’t giving Nate Diaz much of a chance when he straps on the 10-ounce gloves for a scrap with ‘The Problem Child.’

“I think he [Diaz] gets destroyed in a boxing match. Jake Paul is a boxer by this point, we have to give credit where credit is due and he’s a boxer,” Brown said. “He might not be an extremely high-level boxer but at this point, he’s boxing primarily you know that’s where he spends most of his time whereas a lot of MMA fighters we have to split our time between so many different things. It’s been a few years now, realistically I look at him now as a really good amateur” (h/t MMA News).

Making his promotional debut on season five of The Ultimate Fighter, Nate Diaz went 16-11 during his 15-year run with the UFC. Diaz has gone toe-to-toe with some of the biggest lightweights in the history of the sport, including Anthony Pettis, ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, Gray Maynard, Jim Miller, Takanori Gomi, Benson Henderson, Rafael dos Anjo, and Rory MacDonald. His biggest career win came at UFC 196 when he submitted Conor McGregor via a rear-naked choke.

Jake Paul backed to put up challenge to Conor McGregor in MMA fight

Former boxing world champion, Paulie Malignaggi, backs Jake Paul to trouble Conor McGregor in a potential MMA fight.

Since Paul has made his transition to combat, he has desperately attempted to entice McGregor into a fight. The American seems to take every opportunity to criticise and goad the former UFC champion.

Jake Paul is set to take on McGregor’s long-standing rival, Nate Diaz in a boxing match on August 5 but has also expressed interest in also taking to MMA after signing with PFL earlier this year.

Paulie Malignaggi gives Jake Paul fighting chance

Paulie Malignaggi, another detractor of McGregor, spoke to the chances of Jake Paul if he were to face McGregor inside the cage. Malignaggi and McGregor very publicly feuded after the latter released sparring footage in the build up for his fight with Floyd Mayweather. The video shows McGregor knocking down the ‘Magic Man’, appearing to get the better of him – something which the junior welter and welterweight champion disputes.

“Jake has a high school wrestler background, so he would not be totally out of his element in the cage,” said Malignaggi. “He’d need to be alert to his kicks, but McGregor (has) absolutely no balls. If you make him just a little bit uncomfortable, you are going to put yourself in a position where you might win the fight.

You can make him uncomfortable by beating on him, or if he’s beating on you, if you just hang in the fight he begins to get nervous and paranoid. He’s not a true fighter,” he continued. “He looks for the first window to jump out of. He’s got athletic ability but his anxiety levels get high. That’s why he gets so tired in fights. (H/T Lord Ping)

Jake just needs the ability to hang in there and he can start to trouble him a little. He can put himself in the position to win the fight. I think McGregor’s boxing is brutally bad, but at this point, even in MMA, if you hang with him he will get uncomfortable,” Malignaggi concluded.

Nate Diaz and Jake Paul agree to new 10 round limit for August boxing match UFC

Former UFC welterweight contender and lightweight title challenger, Nate Diaz, as well as professional boxer, Jake Paul, have agreed to a change in their August professional boxing match in Dallas, Texas – with their initially slated eight round limit, now awaiting approval to be revamped to a 10 round limit.

According to an initial report from ESPN reporter, Marc Raimondi, Nate Diaz had requested for their August boxing match to be extended to a 10 round limit rather than an initially slated eight round limit, with Paul following suit and also agreeing. The Texas Combative Sports Program is now set to weigh up the request for approval to boot.

“Nate Diaz has requested his fight with Jake Paul be extended from eight round to 10 rounds and Paul has agreed to the change, both teams confirmed with ESPN,” Raimondi tweeted. “They are now waiting on approval from the Texas Combative Sports Program.” #PaulDiaz

Slated to make his long-awaited professional boxing debut, Diaz, the victor of The Ultimate Fighter 5, will take on Ohio puncher, Paul in a middleweight fight at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on August 5. next

Nate Diaz officially departed the UFC back in November of last year

Most recently competing in combat sports back in September of last year atop a UFC 279 pay-per-view card, Diaz turned in a stunning fourth round win over former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson, submitting the Oxnard native with a guillotine choke late in the penultimate frame.

As for Paul, the outspoken YouTuber and social media influencer has yet to return to professional boxing since he suffered his first loss in a split decision defeat to Tommy Fury – the half-brother of current WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury back in February in Saudi Arabia, dropping to 6-1 as a professional as a result.

Video – Jorge Masvidal and ‘punk b*tch’ Jake Paul engage in a heated confrontation

The Problem Child’ Jake Paul and ex-UFC star Jorge Masvidal recently engaged in a heated confrontation, but not everything was as it seemed.

In a video clip posted by Paul’s micro-betting app company Betr, the love-him-or-hate-him social media star addressed Masvidal face-to-face after ‘Gamebred’ referred to him as a “punk b*tch” during an appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. However, the video appears blatantly staged, something Jake Paul has been known to do with other notable names in the combat sports industry.

Okay, so apparently Masvidal showed up to the Betr warehouse,” Paul says into the camera before venturing outside to confront ‘Gamebred’ in the parking lot. “Why are you trying to cause trouble?” Paul asks. “Nah, it’s my city,” Masvidal replies.

It’s your city? So, you own this right here?” Paul asks, pointing to the ground. “You’ve been saying a lot on Ariel Helwani.”

What’d I say?” Masvidal asked. “You called me a punk b*tch,” Paul responded.

The Altercation Between Jake Paul and Jorge Masvidal Nothing More Than a Shameless Plug

Like Jake Paul’s confrontation with boxing legend Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, the entire conflict was staged, operating as an advertisement for a YouTube video Paul and Masvidal filmed together which is scheduled to drop at 11 a.m. ET on Thursday, June 8.

Jake Paul and Jorge Masvidal have lobbed insults at one another over the years, but it appears that the two men have since buried the hatchet. Of course, it’s altogether possible that there never was any heat between the two and the men were simply engaging in a mutually beneficial rivalry to stay in the limelight. Considering Masvidal helped Paul train for his 2021 bout against Ben Askren, we’re going to go ahead and assume it’s the latter.

Ben Askren

Although it didn’t go to plan, Ben Askren (19-2 MMA) planned on being the one to end the Jake Paul experiment before it even began.

During the rise of ‘influencer boxing’ in 2020, it was mocked by most professional fighters who believed it was nothing more than a fad.

The emergence of controversial YouTuber Jake Paul to the ‘influencer boxing’ scene did however add some intrigue.

Paul’s professional boxing career began with knockout wins over the likes of influencer Ali Eson Gib and former NBA player Nate Robinson kept the train moving.

Although Jake Paul’s wins continued to push him into the limelight, many people knew that he was beating untrained fighters. Despite this, his obnoxious persona attracted fans who tuned in to watch him receive some long-overdue karma.

Despite this, fans could see visible improvement in Paul’s boxing ability, they knew someone with some fighting experience would have to be called upon.

That someone was Ben Askren

‘Funky’ had one of the best wrestling pedigrees in MMA, however, when it came to fighting Jake Paul, it was apparent his best days were behind him.

Unfortunately for the optimistic MMA fans, Ben Askren’s striking was exposed by YouTuber Jake Paul, and paid the ultimate price after getting knocked out one minute and 59 seconds into the first round.

Ben Askren gives his prediction for Jake Paul Vs. Nate Diaz

Since Pauls’s fight with Askren, ‘The Problem Child’ has racked up wins against the likes of Tyron Woodley (19-7-1 MMA) and Anderson Silva (34-11 MMA), amassing a record of 6-1.

Following Jake Paul’s latest loss to Tommy Fury, he is set to face another UFC legend, Nate Diaz (21-13 MMA), on August 5th

In a recent interview on ‘Daniel Cormier TV’, Ben Askren admitted he overlooked Jake Paul as a legitimate threat, however, he is done doubting his former opponent.

“I got to imagine [he beats Diaz],” Ben Askren stated.

“I didn’t think Jake Paul would beat Tyron [Woodley] or Anderson Silva. So yeah, I kind of think so. It sounded like fun [to box him] and I hoped he sucked. We didn’t know at that point! At that point, he only boxed a comedian or something and a basketball player. So we didn’t know nothing. I thought, ‘Oh, hopefully, this dude’s just a bum. He’s gonna try and hit me hard for a round, he’s gonna get tired, then I’m gonna beat him up.’ We didn’t know he was any good.”

Despite Nate Diaz’s impressive fighting lineage, Askren believes that Diaz is underestimating Paul and making the same mistake he made.

Regardless, with a win over Nate Diaz, the 26-year-old social media star will be eyeing up a high-profile affair with Conor McGregor (22-6 MMA). The tie between the three of them would be McGregor’s long-standing rivalry with Diaz in the UFC.

Assuming McGregor would be willing and interested in another crossover boxing bout, Askren sees it being profitable for all involved.

“Yeah, I did [make more money fighting Paul],” Askren exclaimed.

“I think McGregor times Jake Paul makes everyone a lot of money and I think if he beats up Nate Diaz it makes a lot of sense. I don’t know what Conor’s contract is or what his relationship is with UFC where he can go get it done but I think a lot of people buy that fight. I think there’s a lot of casual fans who just want to see a boxing match and you know what, Jake Paul’s actually not bad at boxing, and maybe I’m just trying to make myself feel better potentially, but he did beat Tyron, he did beat Anderson Silva.”

Does Ben Askren have a point? Would Jake Paul vs. Conor McGregor make sense?

Ex-UFC star Nate Diaz casts doubt on Jake Paul fight after being denied marijuana exemption

Nate Diaz is once again insisting that his scheduled scrap with Jake Paul be moved out of the Lone Star State after realizing that the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation will test him for marijuana use ahead of his professional boxing debut.

The news came as a complete shock to the Stockton Samurai who has become synonymous with his unapologetic love for cannabis. After discovering that Texas, the state that is scheduled to host his August 5 clash with Jake Paul at American Airlines Center, has a zero-tolerance policy for marijuana usage, Diaz playfully suggested that the fight moves to another state. At the time, Diaz did not come off as entirely serious.

However, a recent post by the Ultimate Fighter alumnus has fans concerned that he could potentially pull out of the fight altogether if it’s not moved to a state that is much more friendly to its weed aficionados.

Nate Diaz Denied Marijuana Exemption by TDLR

Nate Diaz has a long history of being at odds with the United State Anti-Doping Agency, the group that handles in-competition testing for UFC athletes. In recent years, marijuana testing has been much more relaxed across the board, but in the less-than-progressive state of Texas, marijuana continues to be a big no-no for professional athletes.

If Diaz chooses not to adhere to the TDLR’s requirement, it would likely have zero effect on the bout taking place. Worst-case scenario, the outcome could be changed to a no contest in the event that Diaz both wins the contest and tests positive for marijuana metabolites. Unless Diaz has a strong desire to continue his professional boxing career after August 5, the consequences are likely of little concern to him.

Nate Diaz reportedly applied for a marijuana exemption but was promptly denied by state regulators.

“We will be working with VADA on testing prior to the fight and will be in compliance with all VADA rules, as well as the rules and regulations set forth by TDLR,” Real Fight, Inc. President and Diaz manager Zach Rosenfield told High Times.
