Jake Shields is hoping that his longtime training partner Nick Diaz takes his camp serious for his next fight and does it right, rather than phone it in.

Diaz had his first fight back in 2021 after a six year layoff. While it was his first fight back, Diaz did not look great against Robbie Lawler. While he has aged considerably, Diaz had looked to be in the worst shape of his fighting career in that fight. Diaz is a fan favorite amongst MMA fans, but to see him go out there and try and put on a show with not enough training was hard to watch.

According to Dana White, Diaz wasn’t prepared enough for that fight and thought he may have been doing it out of necessity rather than wanting to perform again.

Now, Cesar Gracie is claiming that MMA fans should expect Diaz to come back before the year is up.

Jake Shields is looking out for his former training partner and wants him to get a solid training camp in if he is going to come back into the octagon by the end of the year.

“I think he wants to (fight again), but I really hope he has a proper camp and does it right,” Shields said on the JRE MMA Show (Transcribed by BloodyElbow)

“I think a lot of it was his motivation. He was kind of, like, pushed into the fight… the fight happened so quick, and he hadn’t been training at all. Then all of a sudden, he was, like, fighting in two months. It was this kind of rush, he didn’t have a chance to do a camp. Nick’s like a brother, I really hope he fights again. But he needs to make sure to properly do a camp.”

Diaz is one of the more memorable fighters in UFC history and everyone hopes he takes his training serious. The UFC is a better place with a determined Nick Diaz.

Dillon Danis is back to his old ways calling out Diego Sanchez, Michael Page, and Jake Shields.

Danis hasn’t fought since Bellator 222 back in 2019 where he won via armbar. The BJJ has been battling injuries since his second fight under the Bellator banner. Danis was on ‘The MMA Hour’ talking about his possible matchups in his future.

“My comeback fight is either gonna be Jake Shields or Diego Sanchez. That’s who I wanna fight when I come back… I can send you the messages that Diego says. That motherf***er’s crazy. So if he wants to get it, I told him too, I was like, ‘Bro I’m gonna hurt you so bad…’ Jake Shields can get it too. John Wayne Parr. I don’t care who it is. I’m gonna come back and gonna fight one of them. Even Michael ‘Venom’ Page, I’ll fight him. He’s so bad.” Danis Said. (Sportskeeda)

Danis may be biting off more than he can chew when calling out these fighters. He only has two professional fights. He has won them both, but all these guys he has named are considerably better than him and any of the fighters he has faced thus far. To call Michael Page “So bad” is an obvious troll job and just to get his name back in the MMA news.

Danis has been known to run his mouth and many consider him to be one of the more annoying figures in the MMA world. His mouth had gotten him in trouble a few weeks ago at a bar in New Jersey. He was arrested after not showing his ID to the bouncer at a bar. He ran his mouth and forced the bouncer to put him in a chokehold where he ended up tapping out to the bouncer and subsequently being arrested.

Could Dillon Danis beat any of the guys he called out?

Jake Shields claims that Nick Diaz wasn’t ready to take the fight with Robbie Lawler but was pressured into it.

Diaz had his first fight since Jan. 2015. He went one-on-one with Lawler on the main card of UFC 266. The bout was scheduled for five rounds but it ended in the third stanza. Lawler scored the TKO finish.

After the fight, Shields, Diaz’s longtime training partner and friend, took to his Twitter account to say that Diaz only had six weeks to prepare.

“Nick Diaz is a f*cking legend 6 years off And six weeks to train and still makes fight of the night.”

“Wanted to do a fight later but was pressured to take it before he was ready. People care about money, not his health.”

Diaz had been adamant about not asking for the Lawler fight. He even told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto that he felt he should’ve been challenging Kamaru Usman for the UFC Welterweight Title.

“I think I’ll beat the sh*t out of Usman,” Diaz said. “I’ll have a better shot against Usman than I do Lawler, just because I already beat Lawler. This doesn’t make sense for me to go in and fight Robbie Lawler again. I don’t know why I’m doing this. … This should not happen. Whoever set this up is an idiot. I don’t know why I’m doing this. I don’t know why this happened. I should be fighting Kamaru Usman – and that’s it.”

Even during his post-fight interview, Diaz said he wasn’t a fan of how his return was set up by the UFC. With that said, the Stockton native did admit that he felt good returning to the Octagon in front of his fans. Time will tell whether or not Diaz decides to keep going with his career.

Transgender Fighter’s Recent Win Draws Anger From Former UFC Fighter

One week from yesterday, former U.S. Special forces member Alana McLaughlin sent shockwaves through the MMA community after picking up her first professional win at Combate Global.

Unfortunately, the shockwaves were not a result of her performance. Rather, the reaction that fellow MMA fighters had following the realization that she was openly out as a trans athlete.

Transgenderism has become a hot topic in sports as entities grapple with how to either regulate or deregulate the participants. Recently, The International Olympic Committee ruled that transgender athletes can compete in the Olympics with no surgeries required. However, the sacred sporting event did implement rules depending on the circumstances of the transition. The ruling insists that female-to-male athletes can compete without restriction, but male-to-female athletes must undergo hormone therapy.

Following McLaughlin’s big win, former Strikeforce champ Jake Shields was taken back that any commission would allow this person to fight a woman.

“This is just insane that any fight show or commission would allow a trans person to fight a women” Jake Shields posted.

Despite the palpable criticisms, Alana McLaughlin won her debut in dramatic fashion. Initially, it seemed like she might be in trouble against newcomer Celine Provost, but momentum swung back in her favor. McLaughlin became the second openly trans person to win at an MMA event.

It appears Jake Shields isn’t the only fighter to take issue with McLaughlin’s recent activities either. UFC bantamweight Sean O’Malley is the latest fighter to emerge and air his grievances by implying that her physical stature alone is enough to raise red flags.

In accordance with the United States Anti Doping Agency, the UFC currently allows transgender athletes to perform under their company’s set of rules. Many of the stipulations in the 9-page release refer to therapeutic-use exemptions when readying transgender athletes for official competition.

Do you think transgender athletes have an unfair physical advantage in sports?

Transgender MMA fighter Alana McLaughlin continues to be a hot topic in the combat sports world today, especially with those believing she shouldn’t be allowed to compete as a professional. This includes Jake Shields, who mocked McLaughlin along with former transgender fighter Fallon Fox.

But, Shields’ attempt at mockery backfired in a brutal way after McLaughlin shared a few earlier tweets that Shields made before finding out McLaughlin originally transitioned from man to woman.

Just days after McLaughlin’s MMA debut win in Combate Global by submission, McLaughlin and Fox connected on Twitter to celebrate the former’s big win. Shields weighed in with a picture of McLaughlin looking ripped before making their transition into a woman.

“This is the ‘woman’ MMA fighter that they just allowed to beat up a girl in Florida,” Shields tweeted. “So brave of ‘her’ to transition then live ‘her’ dream of beating up women.”

Following Shields’ controversial tweet, one Twitter user pointed out the hypocrisy of Shields’ comments by pointing out that he once called McLaughlin attractive and dateable in previous posts. McLaughlin got word of the comments and responded to Shields in a brief, brutal way.

McLaughlin has been under fire by the MMA community with many feeling it’s unfair to allow her to compete with biological women inside of the cage. Shields, along with Michael Bisping and Sean O’Malley, has criticized the integrity of McLaughlin’s MMA career.

After their impressive win in Combate Global, all eyes with being on how McLaughlin deals with the public scrutiny and pressure moving forward. It’s unclear when McLaughlin’s fight will be, but it could happen by year’s end.

Shields hasn’t competed in MMA since 2018 when he was knocked out by former PFL champion Ray Cooper III. He had an up-and-down run in PFL before retiring from the sport altogether.

What is your reaction to Jake Shields’ comments, and Alana McLaughlin’s comeback?
