Jessica-Rose Clark, the Australian UFC veteran, delivered a dominant performance at Fight Night San Jose, scoring a unanimous decision win against Mariana Rivera in a 135-pound Muay Thai bout, avenging a prior loss. The event, organized by former UFC fighter Gilbert Melendez, saw Clark’s continued growth as a fighter.

In an earlier bout in Muay Thai, Jessica-Rose Clark wasted no time asserting herself in the opening round, overwhelming Lee with precision striking and relentless pressure. The referee stepped in to halt the contest, awarding Clark the TKO victory and marking another landmark in her post-UFC career.

In her next bout, just yesterday, she defeated Mariana Rivera by unanimous decision. After the victory, she explained:

“Mentally, emotionally and physically this was the hardest camp I’ve had in a long time, but getting my hand raised last night was a ray of sunshine. Mariana is no joke. After I fought her in August, she asked for the rematch almost immediately. She’s 50-5 as an amateur, 6-3 as a pro and just won a Mexican national title last month. I knew this fight was going to be much, much harder and she came in last night with a lot of confidence and a refusal to back down. She gave me the hard fight I have been longing for.”

Since leaving the UFC in 2023, Clark has embraced Muay Thai, finding renewed happiness and success in the sport. Competing out of Combat Sports Academy (CSA) in Dublin, California, Clark has thrived under the guidance of a top-tier coaching team. She is also actively involved in Alta Global Group’s Warrior Training Program.

Reflecting on her journey, Clark has credited this career pivot with allowing her to prioritize her well-being. “This is the happiest I’ve ever been in my fighting career,” she said in a recent interview.

Professional wrestling icon, Shawn Michaels has shared his thoughts on UFC bantamweight contender, Jessica-Rose Clark using his ‘Sexy Boy’ theme song for her walkout at UFC 276 back in July – en route to an eventual armbar loss against Julija Stoliarenko.

Clark, a native of Cairns, Australia, featured in the preliminary card opener of UFC 276 back in July during International Fight Week – using the aforenoed, Michaels walkout song, ‘Sexy Boy’ for her own walkout ahead of her fight against Stoliarenko.

Receiving a massive ovation for her decision to use the theme song, Clark suffered an early opening round submission loss via armbar as Stoliarenko dampened the Aussie’s parade.

Reacting to Clark’s use of his own theme song at the pay-per-view event, Michaels, a former WWE (World Wresling Entertainment) champion, described the move from Clark as “awesome”.

“Heck, I sat there and watched it,” Shawn Michaels told Ariel Helwani on the The MMA Hour. “I watched it and it’s like, oh my goodness, she (Jessica-Rose Clark) comes out – and then, of course, just like ‘HBK’ (‘Heartbreak Kid’) she gets tapped out. But it was still awesome.”

Later in the event, UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya made his walk in the style of fellow professional wrestler, ‘The Undertaker’ – himself earning props from Michaels.

“It was awesome, because look, they do it to ‘The Undertaker’s’ with Israel, he’s got cool music,” Shawn Michaels said. “A lot of people have had other performers do that. Not me. My song, it’s snappy, it’s cool, everybody loves it, but it isn’t really that machismo song. And so, to have a fighter come out to my music and go like, ‘Ok, they get it,’ it’s everything.”

Michaels recently made a return to professional wrestling with WWE Raw, featuring alongside long-time tag team partner and fellow D Generation X member, Triple H.

UFC bantamweight, Jessica-Rose Clark has claimed that Julija Stoliarenko held on to the armbar after Clark tapped. She also notes that she will now likely require surgery.

The first bout of UFC 276 saw Jessica-Rose Clark and Julija Stoliarenko square off in the early prelims in Las Vegas. Clark would find some success early on the feet, but Stoliarenko’s grappling was evidently superior, taking her down and quickly submitting Clark with an armbar.

The replay of the first-round finish would show a clear break or dislocation of Clark’s arm, with the Australian feeling her opponent had held on for the submission for too long.

“Well, that sucked. I just got back from the hospital,” Clark stated in an Instagram post. “I am probably going to need surgery on my elbow, she did a really good job of continuing to armbar me after I tapped, but that’s fine. It is what it is. I felt great.”

“I cried the entire time I was at the hospital, but I’m feeling all right. I’m understandably heartbroken, but I did everything right this camp. I’m going to have this surgery and heal up and then come back and be better – and that’s all I can do.”

Julija Stoliarenko Responds To Jessica-Rose Clark Injury

Last Saturday saw Stoliarenko earn her first UFC victory afte going 0-4 in the promotion and she did it using her signature armbar, a technique that has won her over half her fights.

During a post-fight press conference, Stoliarenko would react to the gruesome injury. “If I get a submission, I’m going to snap it until people stop it,” Stoliarenko said. “Of course, I don’t want to injure my opponents, but it’s up to them when to tap. If she’s not tapping, I’m going to do my work.”

Do you think that Stoliarenko held on to Jessica-Rose Clark’s arm for too long?

Landing her first promotional victory, Lithuanian bantamweight, Julija Stoliarenko manages to kick start UFC 276 with a brutal 42-second armbar win over popular Australian opponent, Jessica-Rose Clark — appearing to dislocate her challenger’s arm with the brutal submission attempt.

Receiving quite the pop to kick off tonight’s T-Mobile Arena card, Clark made her Octagon walk to the music of former WWE SuperStar, Shawn Michaels, leading to a wayward introduction and breakdown of her fight by UFC color commentator, Daniel Cormier.

Engaging in a firefight with Stoliarenko in the opening exchange, Clark wobbled the bantamweight, however, was forced to the canvas off the back of a power double leg takedown.

Quickly shifting her hips and moving to side control, Stoliarenko isolated Clark’s left arm, and hopped opposite sides, forcing the tap off the back of a slick 42-second armbar win — landing her first victory under the banner of the UFC.
